Formation for the coming season
Forums:
Well judging by the players signed and the players we have been linked with I think Slaven is going to utilize a diamond 442, the same formation that suited us so well at the start of last season. Considering our depth in the middle of the park and our complete lack of any decent wingers this seems like the most obvious and reasonable choice. This does represent a change from his trusted 4231 but he obviously feels that the movement of Sakho and Valencia up front, as well as the athletic ability of Jenkinson and Cresswell will make up for this. I expect to see another no. 10 come in as cover/competition for Payet. Maybe Cabaye or someone along those lines. I have read that the club are looking for offers for Jarvis and Nolan which can free up wages, and should we sell Downing, which I am not entirely for but if we can make a profit on a 31 year old then why not, Cabaye would be the best option. I think the club will also look to move out Collins. Again a good player but with rumors of a new cb signing and the depth we already have, as well as the youngsters coming through, Collins seems like the most likely candidate.
Ray Parlour
Forums:
Ray Parlour suggests that while west ham fans should not get ahead of themselves, the club could be ripe for a huge investment. My first thoughts were for the two David's. They have risked a lot of personal wealth and have done a good job at securing west hams future. If they make a bob or two should a big investor come in, I say good luck to them. They are not getting any younger, why have the stress at their age? I have a lot more to say but with my 11 year old in the keys camping and on my I phone so not easy to write a whole bunch- thoughts!

Which competition do you prioritise?
Forums:
An easy, glib answer is all competitions. But seriously, that isn't realistic this season. I loved seeing our youngsters on Thursday but now I've had time to calm down, it's time to think rationally. Once the preliminaries are out of the way, the EL is going to provide stiffer competition. Remember how Allardyce got slated when we went out of the Cup against Forest for fielding a team youngsters? Well that is going to be necessary this season again. I'm sure the fans will be more sympathetic to Slav, but, which competition do we field the youngsters in? The League Cup will come along, which is arguably out easiest route to silverware. For me, I love the F A Cup more than anything. However, we absolutely have to maintain Premier League status this season and getting off to a good start in the Premier League is critical. Come August and September, the matches begin to come think and fast. Our squad size isn't much bigger than last season. Hopefully Slav mixes it around in the EL and the LC, keeping our best team available for PL games and FA Cup games. But that's just my opinion. I have to say, it's great to have to worry about such things!
Euro win and what a difference a game makes!
Forums:
I only caught the second half of Thursdays encounter and it was good to see so many youngsters in the fray, even though the opposition was not quite like anything the club has faced before and were poor I wonder just how much of a positive effect the game had on our academy and fringe players? Of course it was all about winning and the result in the end was comfortable though in any situation you cannot be complacent. This must have made a refreshing change compared to the young guns 0-5 reverse at Forest 2 seasons ago, that game must have literally demoralised some of those lads, so despite it not being overly pretty and with a hint of luck could have been an even bigger victory I for one am pleased that the young lads especially got to taste a first team victory.

The New Shirt
Forums:
I got my fathers day prezzy yesterday, the new home shirt. At first I was really impressed, the design is traditional with respect to the first shirt seen at the Boleyn and I have always prefered the claret body and the blue sleeves. However, it just hit me that the Blue is totally different to the past shirts. It is in fact Turquoise! I guess I am just the typical West Ham fan.... never happy unless I am moaning :o) Good performance last night and a good result....COYI's!!!!
