It has taken four days in order to be able to review the events of last Saturday with a clear mind, the day started well enough, there was a carnival atmosphere in the Olympic Park and along the canal banks where people picniced or were enjoying a drink or two either on the canal banks or on the floating barges. The sun was shining and all was set for a good day out, the previous three defeats Hammers had experienced were just a blip and put down to the fact that the players were just getting to know each other.

The clean sweep of players at West Ham has continued with the announcement that Josh Cullen is joining EFL League One club Charlton Athletic on a season's loan. Manuel Pellegrini is said to rate The Republic of Ireland U21 captain very highly but feels his progress would be better served by going out on loan where he will link up with former West Ham United player and current Charlton manager Lee Bowyer and his former Hammers teammate Lewis Page at The Valley.

Hammers fans will be relieved to hear the good news coming out of the Rush Green training ground with regards to the fitness of 'main man' Marko Arnoutovic, the striker pulled up short during the 3-1 loss at the Emirates and was taken off as a precautionary measure, the fact that West Ham's performance dipped markedly after his withdrawal has not gone unnoticed. It is therefore good news for Manuel Pellegrini as he looks to get his first points as Hammers manager in the bag as his team take on newly promoted and highly fancied Wolves at the London Stadium.

Ya Ya Toure's agent revealed on Tuesday night that the former Manchester City midfielder had passed a medical in London, inferring he was heading for a club in the capital as an 'out of contract' signing. His agent also took a swipe at West Ham and Fulham by saying that his client wouldn't drop down to the 'level' of either club!

Manuel Pellegrini was a happy and to some extent a relieved man as he saw his West Ham team overcome a stalwart and obdurate AFC Wimbledon side in a tense 2nd round Elk Cup tie, the relief element being the fact that Hammers conceded Wimbledon's goal from a set play within the first ninety seconds of the game. Even after going down to ten men the Don's didn't make it easy for their Premier League opponents in any way shape or form, some of their physical nature would not have been tolerated within the safe confines of the 'upper echelon' but this was a full blooded cup tie.
