ayew

So looks like he will be signing. Decent player but what's the plan? Does he replace sakho as a striker or Is he joining to play on the wing? His natural position seems to be a winger. With sakho gone I think we need someone who is an outt and out striker

Seen a lot of talk about hIs not good enough and his not a 20 goal a season striker but I think it will work well, his a class player he can do the job sakho was doing upfront (when fit) running in the channels creating space and scoreing more goals than sakho IMO. Plus from what Bilić has said he wants a versitile forward and an out and out striker, how many times were our strikers played wide? I'm pretty sure even if ayew can only match Valencia/sakho up front he will still prove worth the extra £5 ish million (after selling sakho or Valencia) when played wide.

If the reports of £20m+ for his signing are true though I would have to say 'Ayew' serious?? I dont think he is worth that amount. Really frustrating as Enner cost us a good wedge for a player who didnt really cut it and Sakho was a bargain buy that turned out to be decent. Now we are losing both and splashing out on one player who is okay

we were matched with names of great attancani and now we're spender £ 20m for Ayew? It seems a little excessive as a digit

and if we get £16m for Sakho and about £12m for Valencia, in comparison it's not too bad. Better than £30m for Benteke. Ayew ran the game for Swansea when they beat us at UP and was playing the No.10 role. Him behind Carroll like that would be great and an obvious replacement in the No.10/CAM role whilst Lanzini is injured. And yes, he can play on the wing too, and would be better suited there than either Sakho or Valencia.
In terms of out and out strikers, we have Fletcher, Martinez and hopefully Calleri. On top of that, if Slav ever wanted to risk it we could always play the ex-Forest top striker called Michail Antonio upfront sometimes!

If we do get £15m for Sakho as sources are touting and recoup the majority of Enners fee then thats not a bad bit of business... but I'm still not reassured by us relying on currently injured Carroll and unproven Fletcher to score the goals... Martinez and Calleri I dont know enough of and Ayew isnt an out and out striker. We are still in largely the same situation as last season attack wise - we need a proven goalscorer to lead the line!

I agree Dicks ..if the end we have to spend £ 20m to Ayew, an exchange with Berahino would be more convenient for us

I would rather go for Bony for £20. In the right set up would score goals. He won't get much game time at City.

I hope you are right! Perhaps its the cost of Ayew compared to the bargain we paid for Payet thats making me sceptical, but then thats football. Look forward to seeing him in the team
