ok this could be interesting after Saturday and carrolls wonder goal is that the best you have ever seen by a west ham player? better than di canio against Wimbledon? better than ashtons overhead against manure...I loved devonshires run and shot into top corner against chelski way back and mcavennies in same match for the fourth when he managed to get his leg up over the ball to keep it down when he hit it..there are many more of course the two sir trev got against chelski who had barota in goal one on the right side of the box curling in with his left foot the other on the left side curling in on his right foot that was in the space of 5 mins.... anyway I have to admit to not being able to separate the di canio goal and carrolls to me they stand out and are as good as each other.
The more I see it the more I
The more I see it the more I am taken away by the sheer power and technique of the goal... he nearly rips the netting! Anyone who has played pro evolution soccer will know the following commentary - THE POWER OF ANDY CARROLL!!!
The timing also makes this
The timing also makes this goal great... off the back of Payet sulk and that 5-0 drubbing, what a rallying cry!
Both are two great goals
Both are two great goals, different in style, but two excellent prowess. Carroll was perfect in timing and coordination and power. It was not easy to hit the ball to one of his stature being high
Wouldn't it just be West Ham
Wouldn't it just be West Ham for Andy Carroll to play like he hasn't seen a football before against boro. Or even worse, get inj...... Not I can't tempt fate.
di Canio's goal was voted
di Canio's goal was voted best premiership goal of all time so we know where that is ranked . Carroll's goal had me jumping out of my seat shouting WHAT A GOAL.....that doesn't happen too often. It will take an exceptional goal to beat it for goal of the season, Giroud maybe. When you talk about executing a bicycle kick to perfection THAT was 100% .
Difficult one
There are many, watch this clip from 1968, this won the ITV Golden Goal competiton. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRwXaSihpms
I can also recall a Paul Goddard goal against Stoke in 1981. A one two on the halfway line and a great run holding off 2 defenders with a great finish into the top corner and a great finish by Goddard again after a 9 pass move against Southampton a week or so later. Tony Cottee against Chelsea in 86-87, Stuart Slater v Sunderland in '89, so so many,
Yes, the one that so many hark back to is Di Canio vs Wimbledon so looking at it I have to say that PDC was able to see the ball all the way and had time to adjust his angle, having said that he showed great technique to make such a clean and controlled strike.
Andy Carroll had slightly less time, had to completely adjust his body shape and having done that then made the cleanest and as powerful a strike as you are ever likely to see.
I couldn't choose which of all the great goals I've seen scored by West Ham which was the best, but of those two, Andy Carroll get's the nod from me.
Ticker
How about Ronnie Boyce in the mud v Joe Corrigan? Fantastic.
Like I said, there are so
Like I said, there are so many. Martin Allen's 2 thunderbolts against Charlton around 1990 come to mind too.
