So we hear that the board wanted and were in a 'whisker' of signing benitez as manager. Not only is this statement unnecessary and disrespectful to Bilic but if true it reveals something else. Surely benitez would have 'demanded' substantial investment into the team, surely he would have been promised several players of quality otherwise he surely wouldn't have come near the club. With this in mind it appears that the board had the funds but are not spending to help Bilic instead. I'm guessing they got the 'cheaper' option in Bilic and splashed out on payet and ogbonna as a sign of their 'backing' and have since decided no more for him instead all the usual 'pretend' moves that fall through etc. There's simply no way benitez would take the job without transfer money guarantees so I suspect Bilic with his desire for the job was not given the same promises. The question is why? If they had it for benitez why not for Bilic? All sounds and smells of dirty tricks

Who ever is or was going to be the manger should be giving all the money the club can afford. This is the biggest season in the clubs history. The board are playing Russian roulette with the club at the moment , if we don't stay up this we hit all there plans hard. With all the sky money , money from the sale of Upton Park there own wealth surely we can muster more than 17 mill for players.

I agree. Hopefully these last few days will have taught Sullivan to keep his mouth shut about details that should remain confidential... but I'm not holding my breath! He needs to pull off 2 or 3 coups before the window closes and prove that those who think he's only here for what he can get are wrong... but again I'm not holding my breath. Jelavic and Adebayor!?? Gawd help us if those rumours are true!

What is going on at West Ham, this season we should've been full of hope in anticipation of the big move next season, the farewell season at The Boleyn, instead Delboy and Rodney have turned us into a circus again, Sullivan constantly giving the media something to print and both of them making empty promises about our progression as a club, I always knew they were in it for money only, selling the ground and putting us in rented accommodation, there's only one winner and it's not going to be us fans. I feel really sorry for Bilic because he seems very passionate about the club but they're treating him in a similar way to how they treated Zola, almost wanting him to fail

You're right, it's starting to resemble the treatment Zola got. They were relatively hands off with Sam, but seem to feel the need to shirk responsibility at the moment. Blaming others, making excuses for deals not happening. They would be better not commenting at all, instead the club website feed us with 'rumours' via the extremely misjudged Boleyn Insider.

It's a joke at the moment TVG, part of me is expecting them to pull off some spectacular signings before the window shuts but then again going by our success rate so far I'm becoming less confident

Shouldn't be fronting it? Understand people have success in what they do but that doesn't mean they will be good at everything else and could be the problem? Any club at any level needs people that can 'pull' decent players in, so surely we have to ask ourselves with a 54,000 seater stadium and loyal fan base in the capital City 'what are we doing wrong and how do we change it?'
