Yeah I guess deep down I knew he was gonna get in but it doesn't make my despondency any better. Reading other forums and FB sites, Potter, like Jlo, is not a popular choice. The only difference being is that options during the summer were more plentiful whereas Potter is only the best of a bad bunch and his missus sips gin and tonics at Mr Foggs Gin Club with Brady.. I'd go so far as to say the only choice actually because not for one moment do I believe Moyes, Carrick or Cooper were realistically ever in contention.
Talking of social media it does make me wonder if the board ever read these forums such as this one, KUMB or even West Ham Till I Die. I believe Moyes' wife is on record as saying that David doesn't, but surely the board must at least have heard whispers that Lopetegui was not a popular choice. His managerial record is a bit hit and miss but has a bit more pedigree than either Moyes OR Potter to be honest.
Which brings me to the point where fans of Potter bring up HIS history. "OH, he was a success at Brighton? Was he really? Only finished above us once in his three years there and that was one place and two points. And that was on a team and basis built by Hughton. The first time Brighton finished above us, and by some hefty margin, was the season he bloody left midway through and oh yeah, mustn't mention Chelsea, because that was just a blip. Well excuse me but I'm gonna mention Chelsea because during his tenure there he had a squad far superior that he's taking on here at West Ham and just like Moyes at moneybags Man Utd, he couldn't hack it.
So yeah, what a season its been so far, at this moment up there with the Cubishley/ Avram Grant scenarios for embarrassment and in my opinion is heading only one way. Avoiding relegation is NOT a given at this point in time and with Potter in charge I do not expect it to improve. I don't see the football improving from the dark Moyesball days and I'm nailing my colours to the mast by saying well done Sully and Co, because you have well and truly screwed up this time.
Right, Rant over, I'm off to go and buy my Leyton Orient shirt.

Everyones opinion will be different no matter who you ask and do i expect miracles by the end of the season not really but again this is the fault of the board as in Sullivan bringing in the wrong man in the summer because he was cheap and his mate Salthouse told him it was a good move.

Chelski was a basket case much like Manure are so i do not blame Potter for taking a job that he may not have ever had the chance to have again and the players much like those at manure wanted the man out as they did not pick there mates or forced them to train twice a day etc so failure there was inevitable.

As a club we need to take a long hard look at ourselves and the way we(Sullivan)operate and the aura we give off because how would it have looked if he had said you no what i don't fancy it with all thats gone on in the media this week then what...oh Loppy look you no we are going to get shot of you shortly but until we do you have to continue training the players who have no respect for you or your tactics and keep doing that if you want paying until we get your replacement in.

So it is no the Question for me as to who could we get that is better than Potter the question is who in there right mind would want to work in such a crazy dysfunctional arena that is West Ham..... the special one? no thanks so lets see how in the coming weeks how we are set up to play and hopefully no more ignoring players or putting square pegs in round holes

I'm happy with Potter. He was my choice in the summer. He was a great manager at Brighton. Was unfortunate at Chelsea. He went to a bigger circus than here.
Unfortunately he has got some shit & Injuries. But enough to work with. Especially if he promotes youth.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Ultimately at this stage. Nobody is right and nobody is wrong.

Deluded and myself could not be further apart on this one. Personally I've not been as excited or pleased about a Manager coming here for as long as I can ever remember.

Bearing in mind that Potter has been out of the game for as long as he has and has ended up here. Is something I never would have expected. I think his stock is very high and their are a lot of teams who would welcome him, who will be looking at us now!

Potter is a disciple of the modern game. He gets it, plain and simple. He will invest in the youth policy we have. He will bring youth in to the side. He communicates excellently and will stabilize us in the short term. Then build in the long term.

I think his track record is excellent. Chelsea was the wrong fit for him 100 percent. That was never going to work. I have no idea what will happen tomorrow night against Villa. But I think this is the start of something very good for West Ham...!!

Up yer arse, up yer arse, stick yer blue flag up yer arse!!

I think 95% of football managers find a club that suits them and they succeed at, only the top 5% can achieve at most clubs that employ them, probably even fewer than that, and every manager has a lifespan at a club, normally within 2-3 seasons the team starts struggling and needs a fresh manager. Any manager is a gamble, look at Man Utd for evidence of that, and I don’t think that Potter is any less of a gamble for West Ham. I guess the rest of the season will be about consolidation in the league with a view for building for next season. I don’t think Lopetegui ever stood a chance, too many players looking for the next move and poor choices in the transfer window. On paper Lopetegui has more credentials and more experience at the top level than Potter, but nobody can predict if Potter will be a success or not, if he gets the right squad and he’s given time then possibly he will be but looking at West Ham they need a new goalkeeper, 2 new centre backs, at least 1 decent holding midfielder and a couple of strikers to start with, so my expectation levels are low.

Some people just like a moan. So who exactly should we have appointed? Mourinho? Howe? Conte?

A team built by Hughton? So how come he did way better? By your thinking, de zerbi inherited potters team then?

Like seriously, I know your tag is deluded but come on!
