Grounds for complaint?

On Saturday last week mate who is a big QPha fan invited me to go watch them i thought i needed a laugh:-) so why not and loftus road(no i am not giving it its ridiculous new name)is a ground i always enjoyed going to its small and compact yes but it is a proper football ground where you can get the mud off a players boot in your face and the atmosphere resonates well in the stadium the game was enjoyable and all in all it was a good day out.....Now heres what was interesting.

Talking to fans around me was about the new stadium and this has been rumbling on for few years now(sound familiar)many sites have been looked at and one known as the Linford Christie stadium holds real interest but now nothing happening...the club seem determined to move to at least a new 30thousand seater purpose built ground to help them compete at the next level(again sound familiar) but the fans are split and a few even mentioned how divided West Ham fans are over our move to the BOM and moving from Loftus Road will rip the heart out of there club(still sounds familiar)...thats when i mentioned i was a Hammer and we had a great discussion they asked what was the new ground like? was it everything promised! lol did it feel like home? all questions i honestly could not answer because as most know on here i will not set one foot in that ground it is my own personal choice and one i would never force onto anyone else.....those who go i hope they enjoy the times and create the atmosphere that was the old Boleyn and looking at Monday night i was so happy to see the crowd together singing and shouting for the team as one long may that continue so if you went did it feel like at last we have moved in? or was it just the fact not being able to go to football it was a relief to see our team play in the flesh again?.

and one final thing what grounds do you like visiting?any division any era

Mc, you and 65 are proper Hammers, the BoM is our home and its starting to feel that way. I have a spare ticket... You both would be welcome to join me!

A true gentleman & a loyal hammer! I did think the atmosphere was a lot better, but the place is not for me....if me & family could get tickets to the Bm lower or the corner of the west stand ( which is a the same lot who stood in the corner of the east stand next to away fans at UP) we would consider. They all stand & they all are as passionate as ever....But there lies my problem, even at the Boleyn in the last few years if we couldn't get tickets for those ends or Trev brooking lower anywhere else the atmosphere was pants!! So called westham fans, sitting bored,no passion & if we did get up & cheer some so called ST holder, who probably had just started supporting the hammers would tell you to sit down, many a time we just held our tongue cos it wasn't worth it!! But at least you had the buzz round the ground...But the L.S is worse imo,add 20,000 tourists who wouldn't know their declan rice from their billy bonds!! There's a massive East stand at the L.S holds 20,000 i believe & even on Monday its only the corners that actually get up & show some passion!! Said it before when fans are allowed back in the place would be better, but the proof that it's home is when we go behind & the tourists are still backing the side, something that hasn't happened yet at the L.S

I will keep trying 65 but do appreciate we are still apart on our views on the LS. I think the more successful we become more of the old school will return. I get all the points you make, UP has gone, the home is the LS and for that reason i will be there!

Ive just got on with it aswell Dartford,i was upset when we left the Boleyn, and the Queens Pub,but enjoy the pubs in Stratford, and Monday night was a brilliant atmosphere, being it was great to be back, but also the way we are playing,i think was the big reason.

The club has lost so many of the old school who were the life & blood of the club,New owners may get them back! For now we have a team & manager to be proud of & that certainly makes a change!;)

I was a die hard anti move fan and signed every protest plan going but as a season ticket holder at The Boleyn, I went along to the season ticket renewal sales patter at Stratford but after listening to all the bullshitting spiel they puked up I decided to hang fire on renewing at the Bowl of misery until I had at least seen it in real life and not on some computer generated screen image.
First impressions on my initial visit were not too favourable. No decent pubs, food stalls all gone and I had to trek halfway round the stadium for a burger instead of the limp overpriced hot dog. Entering the ground looked quite good until I looked down and saw all the scaffolding holding up the stand. I have ever since called it the Meccano Stadium. From then on it was all downhill. I was about 6 rows back from the pitch on the corner. Fuck me, it couldn't have been any further away could it? Second visit was in one of the 66 seats courtesy of a good mate who couldn't go and gave me his seat which would have been one of my seats had I renewed on a like for like seat. Oh boy, am I glad I saved my money after watching what was similar to a load of ants chasing after a pinhead.
Haven't been back since and it will take something extraordinary to make me part with my hard earned cash, especially with Moyes brand of football to boot. To be honest, I don't have a favourite other ground but if pushed would probably say Craven Cottage.

I sit in the front'ish of the top tier 227 and view I think is good, but, TG I have good eyesight. For the record, the "computer generated screen image" shown on the sales day was and is totally accurate to what I have so no complaints. It costs around £29 a game and its brilliant value. I get to see old mates and family and this season I hope good football. The Moyes brand is surprisingly working for me.

DH - sorry it doesnt work for you but its this or nothing for me. UP is gone and I dont look back with rose tinted glasses, I remember many a bad day and like Everton last week plenty of booing at half time. The BoM is West Ham... Why? Because in the main its the same people, THE FANS in all shapes and guises!

Because 3 plastic westham supporters bought our club & decided in their divine wisdom to sell our spiritual home for a money making exercise, good for you if you like it but for me westham as we used to know it pretty much died with the rubble at Upton Park I'm not fooled by those 3 shysters & I'm still deeply disappointed that most westham fans went so quietly!!

Being younger i enjoyed the nights under the lights at Upton park but my history with that ground will be outmatched by the years we will have at the BOM and so as a younger generation whilst far from perfect i have hope improvements can be made, i totally respect your POV 65 and of course i know mr bikeman feels the same way and so do many others but we have to move on it is all we can do now.

Spot on Essex, its still our club and if the played on either The Moon or a bomb site i would still support them because its our Club! The Unholy Trinty will be gone soon, Perhaps the new owners will be no better, either way its still my club!
