Forums:
Just seen a video blog Claret and Booze, dont normally venture on this YouTube blog, the guy really laces into both Moyes and JWP.
I think we all have very strong opinions on Moyes but until now JWP has had a fantastic start to the season, having maybe still a honeymoon period but looks like people are now taking a closer look.
I have said with family and friends that he is "special" with a dead ball but his effect on open play is IMO lacking. Even against Everton even this element of his game was lacking. I dont see too many tackles or inceptions, lacks pace and the forward passes, particularly when we have a high percentage of possession, is lacking, its sideways or back. This puts more pressure on Alverez and god forbid more opportunities for Zouma to be caught out with the ball. If ever there was a footballer who looks less in control of a ball than that guy!
Maybe its also timing, I just saw on Facebook the stats for Flynn Downes, appears to be doing well at Saints.
So I ask the question... JWP, passenger or integral part of the chemistry of our style of play?
I saw that rant Dartford
and i have to say i am not in agreement mainly because Moyes has now decided he is a more defensive midfielder than an attacking one which in this girls eyes is ridiculous.
Downes did nothing wrong for me but never given a proper run and that is as we all know Moyes has his favourites and it is no surprise that he is doing well at the Saints.
I agree with the Girls eyes
Moyes trying to make him a defensive player, just doesn't suit this guy. I think at Saints he had a more roaming roll which is quite a luxury.
The point I raised about Downs is that JWP was seen as a "step up" , that Im still not sure about. I thought in Downs we also had a lad that was a Hammer through and through and would leave nothing on the pitch, Im not seeing that in too many of the current crop.
Dartford everyone knows here HG's eyes are focused
LOL better go get the ointment for those claws coming my way
LOL!!
Get ready Mac!!!
ohhhh you can run
well maybe not so much at your age:-) but see how good you can hide just off to get my claws polished! and make it a big bottle of ointment you cheeky sod lol.
Honestly a girl can watch a game of football you know its not all about men in shorts sweating and working those leg muscles hard errr i think its getting a bit hot in here just going to open a window.
getting all flustered HG
I'll lend you my frame so you can stay upright
Think it is Moyes
He just sucks the fun out of football and the players clearly not up for playing the way he wants....find it funny that if he loses 6 games on the bounce then its rumoured he will be sacked....what a club he will not get a new contract next summer he is destroying the players we have with his style of play week in week out for Gods sake just bin the man before the seasons a total shit show.
Villa did it to Gerrard this time last year now look at them and Spuds did the same with Conte and look at them now playing on the front foot confidence high players happy.....Come on Sullivan you no it makes sense
feel your pain Mc!
Good point about Aston Vanilla booting out Slippy. I worry that Suli would eventually, end of season, just bring in another Marquee Manager like El Pel. Villa found a real gem!
Whilst Moyes is in charge
It's really pointless debating the merits of any player. I don't mind JWP ( wanted Maddison personally), but just like many other players before him, Moyes has taken the creativity out of him and quite frankly, JWP is no Payet at the dead ball situations.
With Ogbonna now no longer a starter and Dawson gone, we've lost the trick of scoring from corners, the JWP deliveries into the box from corners either aren't working and it's pretty clear (well to most of us anyway) that Ants and Ings aren't going to set the goalscoring records on fire.
PS. Have read that Mubama has refused to signed a pretty decent contract offered to him.
Yep, go a longer with all that DH
When Maddison was up for grabs lots of clubs were scratching at the door... not so with JWP, like you said, hes no Payet but there again.. who is? hated by most but defo makes my all time Hammers side!
Good point about aerial threat, add to that Slowczech loss of form.
Antonio is off the biol, Ings is wasted if you play Moyesball, everyone bar Bugeyes can see that.
P.S. Mubama has a new agent, I think he's flexing his muscles.
I'm in agreement. JWP is a
I'm in agreement. JWP is a class act and in my opinion a box to box midfielder and central playmaker. Not solely a defensive midfielder, Moyes idea of tactics is beyond trying to work out.
It's true he seems to demoralise players by playing them out of position and his Jurassic approach to the modern game. I'm sure that much is evident, fans aren't stupid...
Giving him the hook against Everton was not a show of I got it wrong as far as Moyes goes. It was sheer bloody mindedness. Moyes is on a power trip!!
Boogers,
i think in the right set up this lad has class. Its still only a matter of weeks ago that every pundit was crying out for him to be in the England set up, he didnt become a poor player in that time.
Summary...
I think we still believe in JWP, the consensus of opinion is no faith in the manager... there's a surprise :o)
IMO, Moyes is with us until the end of the season. Suli is a horrible individual but does try to show some loyalty, he will only fire a manager when the relationship is broken. He knows we are not going to be relegated as there are definitely three other clubs that are worse than us.
Three clubs worse than us
Where have I heard that before?
I think this year there
I think this year there really is three teams worse than us!
Just Darford
Only Just.
JWP Over-reaction
Whoa! Slow down guys.
OK, so the recent performances have been below expectation, but let's not start singling out individual players, it's a team game.
JWP made a great start to his West Ham career and it just isn't sustainable, averaging a 'goal involvement' every game only applies to the likes of Messi/Ronaldo.
IMHO, JWP is playing an important and effective role in a squad of players in a busy schedule of games and continues to be rotated to keep fit and we'll see in May where we're at.
Blimey
Your HO is welcomed.
I think in fairness most folk believe he is a good footballer but the blame sits with Moyes for not allowing him (and others) the role they really expect.
Im certainly throwing him under the bus yet but as Hammer Girl said she also saw the rant from the guy on Claret & Booze and he's not the only one to voice unrest.
Playing out of position or taking on a role for the good of the team / the end result. I was surprised to learn that Bobby Charlton, probably the most gifted player in the 66 squad was instructed by Sir Alf to man mark der Kaiser Franz Beckenbauer in the Final. He did, and did a great job but many would have been shocked by such a tactic expecting him to have a free reign roam the attacking options. If you are ever as sad as me, watch the 66 final from start to finish with this in mind... its amazing!
JWP is mustard. You don't go
JWP is mustard. You don't go from being mustard every season to being horseradish. A couple of games where he hasn't scored or assisted and suddenly he's no good. No sir, take your JWP whiff outta the room pronto.
Not sure VAR...
... just a couple of games? Doesn't have a big effect in open play, did make a few more forward passes last night (great assist tonight) but even the dead ball / corners had Kudus getting involved to make a short corner which I thought was stupid given that Twizzle Slowczech had just come on! Im not knocking the lad I just want to see more than just a dead ball specialist and for the record.. He's no Payet.... but who is!!!
Think he played further up
Think he played further up the pitch for the saints.
