West Ham have appointed Michael Doherty as the clubs International/UK Emerging Talent scout.

Doherty recently left Celtic after 5 years in a similar role. He has also worked with David Moyes before at both Everton & Sunderland as a first team and academy scout.

Not sure we need an emerging talent scout. Not as if Moyes will ever play them

The Moyesosaurus would never risk a young talent unless its a very safe game in The Euro Disney league.

Thing is Dartford there is no word risk in football now. As I said on a previous thread there is no time, hit the ground running or you’re out. Like in another thread, apparently Paqueta is a flop, so maybe we should sell him in January and cut our losses. As he’s flopped that means all Brazilians will flop, so what’s the point in buying this young guy? You catch my drift? So no matter who’s in charge, whoever plays they better play well and we should win 70% of our games at least ( bit like last few seasons) or they’ll be out in a few weeks too. I suppose we could see how many managers we could get in one season? That would be funny.

What you're saying is stick with moyes & he will turn it around? In the last year the win rate percentage rather than 70% has been more like 30%!! Watch this space,I certainly will

I suppose there’s a position in between yours and mine. I could say if we don’t win x% of games out of 20 do we change manager and sell all the players? The problem for me is yes I’d love Pochettino and Tuchel but not much else out there. Maybe Gerrard at a push but I think he’s got one eye on England. I just think he deserves a season after the last two. At the end of the season if it’s not improved he should go. He deserves a chance imo

You're right,he surpassed everyones expectations in 2 seasons.Im also not into the revolving door of managers, growing up in an era when Westham were renowned for keeping managers!I liked Pardew & Slav but for one reason or another they had to go in the end.Im basing moyes on the last year, relegation form, his sides have been found out & he's not getting anything out of players that we could only dream of buying years ago!! Or are these luxury players not cut out for a prem relegation battle! We shall see

Maybe he should’ve stuck with the Bowens, Dawsons and Souceks of this world. It seems that anyone with a reputation these days, doesn’t live up to it and anyone with no reputation surpasses expectation. Football has become very sterile, it’s why only two players have dominated for so long at the top in this generation. Where’s the next Gazza, Bergkamp, Di Canio, Brooking, Hoddle, Cantona, Le Tiissier, I could go on and on. This current crop are nowhere near as good as them, they entertained got bums off seats that’s what football was about. We now watch football played with fear of losing. Do we think Maradona ever went on a pitch with the idea he would lose? Money, sustainability, control have taken over football, so Moyes will probably go soon, and the board will appoint someone else and then they’ll go soon and so on and so on. My biggest fear is that Nobes and Nolan take it on, that’s one way to kill your legend status

Nolan and legend in the same sentence. How his status has risen since he was Big Sams "bum boy"

They all must hit the tarmac running hence the typical safer option of buying experienced and hopefully for WH... Cheap.

typical example being Johnson who by media accounts will not sign a new better contract. He was "OK" but as in the case of Grady Diangana didnt pull up trees like Dec so he's seen by the powers as surplus to requirement. Its also back to the old lack of loyalty, none by the club, none by players etc etc you have heard it all in the past and where the record stops... With us!!!

But it all boils down to the move imo.the dildos & bonus with they're BS convinced tens of thousands of westham fans that we would be dining at the top table with the big boys.Hence the expectation all the time,I'm not talking about the 25 thousand tourists that rock up,but the proper westham fans! That's why I admire the likes of palace, still got they're own ground, got a solid entertaining team & apart from their "ultras' there's always a good atmosphere there, leeds as well springs to mind! This board have turned us into some sort of poncey reality show that is definitely a turn off!!

I still feel your pain, and a turning point was the new stadium but in the right hands could have been handled a lot better referring to the treatment of fans and not making outlandish unrealistic promises, and, thats what they were, no realism. We already had 6 big spending clubs and at best would win The Everton Cup (7th), that is now in danger with the arrival of the New Rich Kids on the block, The Barcodes!

I think like you and many West Ham fans we are realists. Our expectations humble, 7th position, a run in a cup, beat the odd top six and generally we are satisfied. For me Moyes fits that bill, deserves a longer chance. I have lots of family and friends who think differently.

Leeds and Palace are interesting examples. Leeds is a one city team in a county known for sport (England Footballers, rugby, cricket and athletes... got more gold medals in 2012 than Germany!!!) and aching for the success seen in the 60s, 70's and 80's. But again very badly managed by the board and the fans were in the wilderness for decades wandering the streets of Hunslet, Headingley,Kirkstall, Pudsey and Moortown (Cracking golf club) seeing the next generation wearing City, Manc U and Liverpool shirts! Thats not for me, a bit of realism is the way forward. BTW... nothing more sickening to see an East London or Essex kid in an Arse shirt! As for Palace, totally agree, they will yoyo through the leagues but... well managed and cracking support...Still no where near as good as ours...Come on you massive Irons!!!

Was so spot on. Then you went and ruined it by saying that Moyes fits the bill. When have you ever seen an entertaining, attacking, exciting, David Moyes team?

as always you make a very good point.

I'm probably a bit sentimental in that I feel Everyone, including the Moyesasaurus, deserves a longer than typical chance to prove themselves. His track record in the past few seasons has been better than that seen in recent years from others. Imagine, had we made the Final, and god knows we even won it, of the Euro Disney Thursday League he would have moved up considerably in the eyes of most WH fans. I think that with that under his belt we would have seen this season a much more Entertaining Attacking approach playing with Freedom in the knowledge that the sack is not just around the corner opting for a safe defence approach.

I do get your point. The three terms you make with Moyes are never in place. Even when we are winning we NEVER look comfortable, squeaky bum time if you are watching in the BoM or hiding behind the settee if on TV.
