Clueless! Where those around him were failing and not fit to wear the shirt he pulled his sleeves up and never gave up, so wtf are you talking about? Short memories and poor form as I will never forget and will always appreciate his service to the club. He wasn't a Gerard or a Lampard ability wise, but he was dedicated the same as both to giving 100%.
Well said ANTKB there comes a time when nonsense talked about football in the shape of analysis has to stop ,the guy was an out and out grafted who gave everything to this club
A grafter, a worker, 90 minutes week in and week out. A decent honest player who made the best of what he had, did well for us but was surrounded by dross during his time at the club.
Ok, so let's look at what I mean by "overrated".
One footed and often one dimensional and therefore often very predictable, one paced too.
He would not be in my top 10 midfielders that I've seen play for us and would not be in my top 30 or even possibly my top 40 Hammers.
He was a player who's career was blighted by injury and that wasn't his fault. It was a great shame as due to that I feel he never reached his full potential, but I say that he was overrated due to the era in which he played for us and the way he was lauded as a result.
The difference between you and I is that I look at the whole picture, not just the bits that I want to see, so whilst I will always acknowledge the great attitude he showed and the service he gave, overall I maintain that based purely on his ability, as a player he is/was overrated by many of our fans and I'll back my judgement on that 100%, as you will no doubt back yours.
Clueless? no pal, just honest and when I feel it necessary, brutally frank.
Extremely one dimensional. Lost count of the amount of goals we would concede from stupid free kicks he would give away or him running down blind alleys or trying his pirouette constantly. Then theres the fact he refused to play in our last 2 or 3 games when we needed him most. Handed in a transfer request aswell. 100% Commitment yes, hard worker yes. But which ever way you look at it he is as much to blame for us going down as any other player in the squad. In fact had we stayed up it wouldve been more Demba Ba then Parker.
Players differ in class but some give the shirt off there back for the cause and the fans. Parker was this kind of player and this can be very valuable to nearly all sides. I respect him for what he offered week in week out and 'overrated?', when he played for West Ham, Spuds, Newcastle, England, Chelsea? I get your point that he wasn't your ideal player but by looking 'for' the whole picture you seem to miss the fact that the best teams have elements from each player that make the Team? Maybe not clueless but expectations need to be lowered mate

If you judge a player by that
