For the record I think Nuno is a better fit than Potter for West Ham but I can’t get my head around the recent team selection. Playing Scarles at right back and Walker Peters at left back is a strange one but to then have a midfield of Soucek and Irving is even stranger, especially with Potts and Magassa sat on the bench who offer so much more. I was impressed with the team selection and effort against Everton but very dubious about the starting eleven and performances since, I think there’s a big job ahead to avoid relegation, hopefully he can strengthen January.

good post Chippy!
First of all the selection of managers by BS has been appalling.
I / we wanted Moyes out, he set up to play ugly football which in the end wasn't working as we were also losing.
BS brought in Loppy , he was worse than Moyes. Brought in Potter, he was worse than Loppy, brought in NES.......... ?
Not sure he's worse than Potter, but he clearly its not an obvious improve just by the same lack of organisation, same lack of fight / spirit, players out of position, NO striker and mostly for me, just having in the same team SlowCzech and Irving.
For me, I'm not sure he's serious and see's WH as a long term project? He's not brought his preferred back room staff, has a very passive attitude and wouldn't be surprised if he has very short rental agreement on a property in the London area.
Its time to realise, in the words of Jeremy Irons in Margin call..."This is it, I'm telling you .. This is it!" (great film........). Its now Pass the Parcel and the music for West Ham hasn't quite stopped but its sure slowing down. Time to act and be different.
Its clear we can't defend so lets go down fighting and entertaining. We might lose 5-4 but my God it will be worth the entrance money and will bring the fans back the next game!!
Where is Ange when you need him? :o)
Yeah I thought not bringing
Yeah I thought not bringing in his own back room staff was a strange one, as much as it’s good to see people promoted to the first team coaching set up the truth of the matter is West Ham are in a relegation fight so if I was NES I would want people around me that knew how I worked and were on the same page instantly. In desperate need of a striker that’s for sure, Fullkrug has been a poor signing, I’m not convinced with Kilman or Todibo, and I don’t think Irving should be anywhere near the starting eleven, he must see something very different in the training sessions!
Not being a football Manager
Not being a football Manager I don't know how they think. But the alarming thing for me so far has been team selection. Everything listed above is correct. Is it just because we are die hard fans, who in the main have seen just about everything, on a weekly basis over decades?
As has been mentioned, I think NES stumbled across his ideal starting 11 towards the end of the Leeds debacle. Problem is, we've got Newcastle next. I purposely watched them yesterday courtesy of Heir Dodgee Stich and they are sharp, fast and technically good.
Organised square pegs in square holes. Eddie Howe has got them finely tuned. Which is probably an ominous sign for us. Interesting to see how NES sets up and what he's learnt so far. He cant swap the full backs. He cant start Irving. Fernandes has to start with Mangassa. We cant play with Pacqueta as a false 9. His mate Bruno Guimarres will piss all over him I've no doubt of that. Trouble is we'll be trying so hard not to give a goal away in the 1st 10 mins. I cant see us starting on the front foot.
If we get tonked and NES puts out a crap starting 11 - questions must surely be asked??!!
I have one of those dodgy sticks myself
And i spent yesterday scouting possible opposition for next season and thoroughly enjoyed watching two sides going at it in a no holds barred match that ended 1-1 and if we draw either of these sides in the cup well we'd be in trouble....the game? Stevenage v Bradford....could be playing both next season a first if its Stevenage and Bradford well not since the days of Wanchope and Di Canio.....thanks for this potential gift Lady Buttplug and the poison dwarf
I think the problem is there
I think the problem is there are no easy games, I would say the Brentford and Leeds fixtures were games West Ham needed to take some points from, if Leeds can keep picking up points like they have been then that’s a relegation spot up for grabs and look at how well Sunderland have started, even Burnley is looking like a difficult fixture the way West Ham are playing.
On the plus side I don’t think NES will carry any passengers, I don’t think he’s afraid of making decisions, I just can’t fathom out the logic to the ones he’s made for the past 2 games!
Think Ange is the the only
one we haven't tried as was said you don't know what's going on in their heads (bit like my Mrs) you have give Nuno time and start panicking in February after the transfer window that when we will know for sure but I think Nuno got a pointer on Friday night at the end of the Leeds game to what his best X1 is But look at Stevie Potts he had a great game against Everton didn't see him again. Watched Kante against Villa U21's (Its on the whufc web site on you YouTube if you feel like a bit more pain he didn't put a foot wrong) deserves a run out off the bench. There's plenty of talent there before we start getting Endrick who is supposed to be the next best thing unproven, no prem experience and 18years old why go abroad, when you've got talent in our academy all the die hards have seen this, as well. still unsure about Guilerme. One things for sure we cant keep forking out for managers
I agree, I don’t see the
I agree, I don’t see the point in taking a punt on a striker like Endrick, I guess the issue is the prices are so inflated in the January transfer window that loans are probably going to be the only option considering West Ham are allegedly already struggling financially.
Paqueta as a false 9 is definitely not the way forward!
Baffling
Is he trying to show sully how bad his squad is and how few options he has?
Only defence I'd give is that he's just joined, has no pre season etc and is simply going through options till he finds something that works
Yes it’s too early to judge
Yes it’s too early to judge him but it definitely highlights how poor the squad is, I guess we all knew that Wilson wasn’t the answer to the striker issue and defensively West Ham look poor through the middle.
Its becoming clear to me
How important Antonio was to the team
I said in a previous post the
I said in a previous post the other day to get him back,he will make a complete nuisance of himself, even if he isnt as sharp,he could hold the ball, while Bowen or Summerville run in,just training at Brentford is wasting time, for him and us,its anything goes time now.
