West Ham's first game at the Olympic Stadium will be a pre season friendly against the Old lady 'La Vecchia Signora' as they are known, or Juventus to most people, on Sunday the 7th of August. Two time European champions Juventus are one game away from winning their fifth consecutive Italian title and It will be the first time the two sides have played each other. Slaven Bilic said: "It will be a privilege to face one of the biggest clubs in the world in our opening game at the new stadium. Like us, they are a club steeped in tradition, so it is fitting that together we will create history with this match."We hope this will be the first of many games against Europe's top sides at our new home as we begin the journey of turning West Ham United into a team capable of competing with the best teams from across the continent.
This is not the high profile Barcelona match that some media outlets had predicted but none the less not bad for starters, there will be plenty of time for Barca and the others once Super Slav has his team playing the way he wants, and realistically it is probably better to not get 'nuked' by Barcelona as a first game at the new stadium. - Ed
