whats going on?

the christmas period is a time when managers love to moan about too many games, squads being too small or in the case of the 'Excuse One' - not being given enough cash to spend. so with this in mind, why why why does Moyes not play our youngsters? To add to the conundrum, our midfield is poor. We've got young, eager legs waiting for a chance and in Rice's case, he's played and proved hes good. we always hear this 'we're in a relegation battle so we can't blood youngsters' but why not? if what you are putting out is not playing well anyway, whats the argument? for me Obiang is a passenger. No energy, no drive, no quality. Why not play Rice instead? Declan can do the job and would add a lot more energy.

For me being in this position, I think it's ok to play 1 and maybe 1 on the bench. They have the enthusiasm the others don't. I'd place rice and obiang in a 2 pronged defensive midfield shield. There is a lot to be said about protecting our youngsters but maybe we over protect them? Surely rice in particular can fill in for noble until he gets fit again or we buy a replacement? It's only a small amount of games. He also should be used a lot more from the bench in 20-30 minute spells. Don't get me wrong I'd not be so keen if he was a keeper or the regular centre half, as its to much pressure too soon. However he should be regarded as a player that can do an important job for us.

Burkie 1

Martinez, a perfect example of just pulling names out of a hat football manager style. There has been nothing to really show he is yet worthy of place, apart from desperation of course. Didn't do much on loan, (1 goal in 15) so I'd say get him back out on loan to see if he does actually have much above playing against other boys. Really don't understand the fantasy that surrounds him at all until he proves a hell of a lot more than he has so far. Are we the only club that players get better when they DONT actually play?

I remembr the calls for Elliot Lee on here pretty much the same as the calls for Martinez now
A lots of us who had seen Martinez play knew that he wasn't ready nor was he ever likely to be ready and from what Ive seen from him including his loan out at Oxford im of the same opinion.
I think that Rice is ready for a run in the side for sure and Holland has promisse but to just play youngsters to see how they do in our present positon would be plain daft.
As for Oxford if he was anything like the player he looked like becoming hed be in the side now. Perhaps his attitude is poor and has stopped him progressing. Only 3 games at Moenchenglabach say enough I think.

I think the fact Oxford was working under Bilic went against him tbh that and injuries. He played 3 consecutive games for BMG before he was recalled and they want him permanantly. Now if Oxford is considered good enough for BMG and RBL in the bundesliga then he obviously is better then what we have. Especially with how terrible winston reid is.

Only a few seasons ago but that's an age thing. Giving youngsters (a word only old farts use) like fat Frank and Rio saved Arry way back in the mid 90's and at last we have some YOUNGSTERS that have potential that matches theirs at the time. I'd love to see Rice and Oxford be given the chance to sort out the middle. If they can what a budget for a RB.

Glad Moyes has stated he will take a look at what Reece Oxford can do before any offers are accepted for him. Our team had the 2nd oldest combined starting 11 for the Bournemouth game. Need to the youngsters every chance to find their feet and form before tossing them aside and buying older mercenaries.
