The weird part about the Daily Express’ claim that Tottenham want to sign Declan Rice is that they suggest he will be a replacement for the outgoing Christian Eriksen.

They tell us ‘Spurs are preparing for the possible exit’ of the Dane, and that ‘Rice has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time’. Yeah, but not as a creative midfielder.

Anyway, West Ham apparently ‘face a battle’ to keep Rice despite him signing a five-and-a-half-year contract at the club two months ago. Liverpool want him and Manchester United have previously been linked, but it is Spurs who are ready to firm up their interest with a £35m offer.

As an aside, that bid is mentioned only in the headline, not in the actual story body. Seems legit.

I can't see Rice going anywhere funny we had John Terry as a kid and he went to the Bridge and Decs has come the other way, if he helps us gain half the success of JT then I will be chuffed to bits but he seems level headed and the attention through performances has of course brought him to the attention of more affluent clubs, Rice could have walked away when contract talks stalled but he stayed put City, Utd, Pool would easily cough up the cash so I am confident that the club that gave him his break is the club he will remain at for a long time to come.

But not to the spuds even the two daves are not that stupid...I'm more worried about Anderson going in the summer because i reckon apart from citeh one of the other big clubs(spuds not included obviously)will be in for someone who now has got to grips with footy in this country and makes it look easy...the way he moves and glides past players sees the pass early and scores as well...not many like him outside the top 6 so i think we will do well to keep him this summer.

We will be lucky imo to hold on to him past the summer..as for Rice I'm sure he knows that if he went to one of the big boys this early in his career it could ruin him,in the sense he might not get much playing time..

but would Anderson and lanzini be able to play in the same midfield ?

Sounds like a dream dicksy, will we ever have such luck to have em on the pitch at the same time.there could and should be plenty of goals out of them 3,let alone a decent striker.

They say that Pep Guardiola has three Premier League stars ‘at the top of his list’ for transfers in the summer. Declan Rice, ‘seen as Fernandinho’s replacement’, is the first and ‘would cost around £70m’.

I'm afraid that's exactly what's going on dicksy, we spend a 100 mill on 6 or 7 players ,they can spend that on one player ,football has succumbed to capitalism

To clubs like citeh we are just a nursery looking after players for the likes of them they see something they want they will get it but for £70million i do not think so look at how old he is the club would struggle too turn down a huge bid but the bidding must start at £100million for the simple reason if he signed say a 5 year contract then for those 5 years if he stayed he would of just cost them £10million which is chickenfeed in todays world so too double it to £20million a year is still nothing to clubs like that how many have players never making the first team costing more than £20million in there squads as it is.

I'll probably get shot down for saying it but so be it!!
These owners who have orchestrated this move will never be able to compete financially with the big club's & the chances are we will always be a mid - table side at best...
