Bryan(pop)Robson...David Cross...Paul Goddard...Frank McAvennie...Tony Cottee...Dean Ashton...Freddie Kanoute....just naming a few here who most West ham fans will have fond memories of along with the many nightmares such players as Frédéric Piquionne... Jonathan Calleri...Modibo Maïga...Nikica Jelavić...Marouane Chamakh...Benni McCarthy...Mido.
Just reading those names sends you into a cold sweat...but for me having seen all these players play and the T.C. Mcavennie double act that was without doubt the best strike force we have ever had in my lifetime i have to say Dean Ashton is my Favourite striker and the big What if comes about following that career ending injury on England duty...for a big fella he could score all kinds of goals and if he had kept playing and scoring as i don't doubt he would of then in true west ham traditions we would of promptly sold him and for peanuts to!...so who is your favourite striker? does not have to be any listed above could be any striker thats played for us the only condition here is you have to of seen them play.
I think you've probably
Named em all there mac!Agree tottally about Deano what a bloody pity he had everything going for him,the curse of the england training session, only at westham

Classic
Bobby Zamora,lets not forget
Bobby Zamora, lets not forget him,he put in many a shift, especially the playoffs,i do feel that Dean Ashton was cut short in his prime, and could of been a legend for us,but the Cottee and Mcavennie partnership was a force......David Cross though back in the day of standing in the North Bank, was a bit of a goal hanger wouldnt you all say,he did tuck a few away i give him that.
Bobby z
In row z!!;) cottee & mcavennie were some partnership.david cross now he was like marmite,he was a goalhanger & had plenty of off games but would also pop in a few.
i must be getting old
Geof Hurst but did enjoy Tony Cottee and Frank Mcavennie
Di canio not long signed for
Di canio not long signed for us and wiped the floor with the arsewipes , tail of the 2 Italians zaza ;)
ok ok mr moore thats a yellow card
if i get threatened with mentioning A**********a's name DITM will be on his way round now you mentioned Zaza
lol,i suppose you can say he
lol,i suppose you can say he was offish game dicksy.
Fisherman's friend
Isnt that for a minor irritation
Remember his shot
In a game, not sure who against but he actually managed to hit the corner flag when through on goal.didnt know it was humanly possible!!
months and months of watching
Carlton Cole how to shoot videos refined his technique
I salute Carlton Cole Mac,he
I salute Carlton Cole Mac,he may not of been all that clinical, but he turned out game after game, hardly ever crocked, would usually make double figures, did his best for us.
O/T re - runs of the sweeney
On the telly last night, classic 70s cop shop!!get the mattress out...your nicked son!!;)
Also caught up on the original mad max the other day what a raving nutter that bloke is in it,his veins popping out of his head must have been having a mare of a day when they filmed that..
just a playful dig
like you say at least he tried and injury wise he was ok
Agree essex
Gave his all Carlton & a pretty good chant for him too,Christian daileys one used to make me laughalso
Oh Christian Daily you are
Oh Christian Daily you are the love of my life, love it 65,thats set me up for the day now.
Dean Ashton would have got my
Dean Ashton would have got my vote if he'd managed to avoid that horrific injury and played for a few years. At 7.5mill he would have proved to have been a steal. So him aside, DiCanio for me. Also a soft spot for Samassi Abooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Sir Geoff Hurst
Sir Geoff Hurst and Frankie Mac. Saw Sir Geoff Hurst play a few times, John McGrath tried to take him out of the game in his usual manor, Mmmm don't think so matey boy. April '71 Southampton (Ron Davies) 1-2 West Ham (Tommy Taylor) and wait for it......GEOFF HURST)
Frankie was also my favourite.
Budgie Burn
Would be my bruvs choice :o)
For me... Frankie Mac or Cottee
Budge burn
Now that was some player!!
All the favourites already
All the favourites already been mentioned apart from Tevez - great player, dodgy circumstances... Think Vaz Te deserves a mention - was great for us in the Champs and did his job well, scored some good goals for us
How come none of you have
How come none of you have mentioned the great Sir Geoff? For a few seasons after 1966 he was a truly World Class player in that he would have got into any squad in the world. So many of those names posted here are not on the same planet as him.
Also, no one has mentioned Budgie Byrne either. 108 goals in 206 appearances.
Good conclusion
Geoff Hurst main man,pop Robson, mac & t.c in that order
Pop Robson for me.
Andy Carroll and Deano are my "if only". Can't believe we kept Carlton Cole on for so long. Dickens was shit too
Mac
Mac
mcbikeman
Maybe start another thread looking at the worst striker?
Sandy Clarke for me... what a plum!
To many Dartford
Do rmbr Sandy scoring against manure in a 3-1 win......Raducioiu now he was a piece of work
