Antonio - where does he play?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 19/07/2020 - 12:14

so he's been up front and scoring like crazy. But is this a flash in the pan or is he cut out to play this role? history shows us that hes o.k as a one up front in short periods, then he can look rather cumbersome and wasteful. if you were Moyes, what would the plan be? Make Antonio the main man and play Bowen and co around him? or look for an out and out striker (replace Haller)? but in so doing where does that leave the beastly Antonio?

its a dilemma because how many goals a season will Antonio likely get playing as the main striker? at the same time, hes too good to go to waste. Do we shift he out wide in a 3 and get a goal machine for the middle?

and i knew Antonio would make a great striker and i would keep him there he scares the crap out of centre backs with his speed and trickery he also never gives up on trying to retain the ball which defenders hate, and he is scoring goals in the last 3 games he has 6 and i'm sure more to come i would love to see him score against manure next week as for Haller i would make him Ants apprentice give the last 15minutes of a game and see if he improves next season if not sell to highest bidder C.O.Y.I

I would keep him up front,to power his way through,as he is a handful for any defense, but what does concern me is he has been crocked and was out a while, and without him it does show, and is very much relied on,and we dont have anyone to stand in,no one comes close, certainly not Haller especially not as a lone striker.

mmmm not so sure the board would be happy with that....i still think Antonio is best deployed wide and coming in from the flanks to terrorise the defence as i am not so certain he can keep playing a lone roll week in week out it will knacker him out and if he is out then whats plan B?...clearly Haller has to improve and understand what is required if Moyes is going to persist with this system going forward and if Haller is not happy or unable to do that roll then move him out and find a player(MITROVIC)who can

The man has legs like tree trunks and the groin and hamstrings seem to give a little too often. I've loved him up front these last few games but can he, a) do it over a full season, avoid long term injuries and do it when the game's are tight and half chances are all you get?

I wouldn't consider changing his position, big mick seems to be having the time of his life up top, seven goals since the restart, he's been the prems most prolific striker since restart, long may it continue.

I would keep on playing him up front next season and see how it pans out.
Antonio can play anywhere that is one of his strengths, at the back midfield or Striker. Keeping him fit is the main worry as he is both a non stop engine and a hard tackling freak, when he plays he plays from the heart.

Antonio has really surprised me since the restart. having watched him week in week out for the last few seasons he did not have consistency and a catalogue of hamstring injuries. A big risk to keep him as the main striker due to his injury record, I would keep Haller and hopefully we pick up a striker from one of the relegated teams.

Moyes is going to want a striker who will have to play up front alone for long sections of a game and season he is just that way inclined as a manager.
Haller in my mind is not that player, he is someone who needs another striker to play off of and would do better in an attacking team yes we as fans would all love an attacking team but we have to accept reality it ain't gonna happen with Moyes.
