Lets not beat about the bush
It's a tin pot trophy playing against mostly unheard of teams who would struggle to beat some of our National League teams. Yes, it was nice to win a trophy although I'm inclined to say we nicked it more than won it. Declan Rice apart that team was already on the way out and Moyes didn't really improve on it. And you'd need a darn sight more than the piddly £15 million prize money commensurate withe a piddly competition.
?
If you win it don't you get into the Europa?
Yep... agree DH
I always called it The Euro Disney Thursday League Cup.
The League Cup is a much bigger competition for two reasons, one the calibre of opposition much higher, you could argue the top six don't take it seriously playing reserves, well most of our squad wouldn't make their reserve team and should they progress to semi or final out comes the big guns. Two, the English clubs enter as favourites because they play at a higher level (the prem) and the opposition are frankly.............. Crap!
Well i enjoyed it Dartford
Well i enjoyed it Dartford, had some good nights on the piss.
I agree Essex
and my comments were defo not a pop at you or anyone else who enjoyed the ride. Its also fair to say you can only beat what's put in front of you and we certainly did that!!!
However, at the beginning of that season Moyes will have known that of the four competitions we started in the Conf was defo the most likely to win.
Lets not knock that cup win
Lets not knock that cup win,it was good to win it,and we had a couple of good years in Europe, there was alot of moaning then, but wouldnt we all like those times now....This is a terrible time, even to throwing in my Season Ticket,i know you wont want to hear it,but Moyes would of kept us up,it may not of always looked good, but im afraid to say,and i didnt think this of Potter in the beginning, but this bloke will take us down.
To be honest when I was
To be honest when I was growing up supporting West Ham we won 2 FA Cups in 5 years. I was 17 by 1980 and a seasoned supporter at the Boleyn. I thought this was the norm!!
Fast forward to 2023 I have 2 sons one 29 and one 39 now. As lifelong Hammers, this was the first thing they had ever seen us win. So I for one am not knocking it.
Old cvnts like Deluded and myself can recall cup wins. But even people approaching 40 cannot say they have ever seen success.
We have to remember it's not always about us old fvckers!!!!
Yep...go along with that
My Son is 36 and he tells people "Ive supported West Ham all my life... Through thin and thin" :o)
Im 60,and been through it all
Im 60,and been through it all aswell, but it was still pleasing to win it.
