Bring ALL Loanees Back!

Sunderland got tonked by Arsenal last night in the Elk Cup 1/4 final at the Emirates Stadium, one player who was conspicuous by his absence was Frederik Alves who is on loan from West Ham, the youngster having been dropped for having a poor attitude during training!

Well, correct us if we are wrong, but the whole point of sending players out on loan is generally to give them game time isn't it? So it is little wonder that Alves is a bit miffed at the miserly amount of playing time allocated to him while at the 'Black Cats'.

Alves is not alone in being sent out on loan and NOTgetting game time, NONE ofHammers young players who are currently loaned out are getting sufficient game time to justify their loan deals, the simple answer is to bring ALL of them back to the club.

Why on earth would you want to do anything else? It is not as if Hammers have a surfeit of players is it? With the unknown Omicron strain of Covid rampaging through teams it is in the club's best interest to have a 'pool' of players from which to select, the larger the pool, the better the club will be able to cope with what will inevitably be a raft of infections and its commensurate self isolations.

These are unique times, being back in the fold will HELP players and add to their happiness, so why not? - LN

100% Correct and I couldn't agree more. I usually pay attention to the clubs of our loaned out youngsters and their lineups. The common pattern that has emerged has been the serious lack of game time for these youngsters, which is not the reason why we sent them out, to begin with.

I can't criticise Frederik for being miffed as to why he hasn't been involved regularly by the very manager who requested him in the first place. The same goes for Odebeko and Coventry (to a lesser extent). All of these players will probably be watching their mates at West Ham getting game time and staking their claim with envy. Young players are fully aware that it is all about opportunity and taking your chance when you get it and back at West Ham, many youngsters have been getting their chance to impress and show that manager what they can do.

The last thing this club needs are these youngsters becoming adversely affected by their experience out on loan and I also happen to believe that these players should be recalled in January. Going forward I feel that as a club, we have to find a better way of guaranteeing our youngsters game time when out on loan as this will surely benefit the club long term.

100% Agree, loaning players is to give them game time and the match day surroundings. Getting them used and adjusted to the whole pre match and match day experience from start to finish. Not sitting on a team bus and a dugout with there finger up there arse.
