Mark's 1st Day Dilemma

Mark Noble officially rejoins West Ham today as director of football, as he takes up his new role 'Mr West Ham' must be thinking what he has let himself in for. Noble's love of the club is well known, but even he must be slightly overawed by the task ahead of him.

With the exception of results in European competitions Hammers results have been appalling and worryingly are on a downward spiral that seems to have no end, injuries and loss of form have contributed the dire situation the club now finds itself in, with relegation looking a real possibility unless things change very quickly.

The problem is how can things be turned around? In the past the answer to a poor run of form was that there were insufficient 'quality' players available to choose from, that cannot be said of the current squad who for various reasons are not the sum of their total, in other words the club HAS SOME TRULY SUPERB PLAYERS IN IT'S RANKS, BUT THEY JUST AREN'T PERFORMING!

Whether he likes it or not David Moyes IS to blame, it seems he is unable to work with top players and is more used to making the best out of a bad lot, as previously mentioned that may have been the case in the past but NOT now Moyes' inability to adapt has been exposed, no longer can he lament what might have been, instead he is busy blaming everyone and everything except himself.

Given the results of the last 18 months, with the exception of the European Cup games, it is surprising Moyes didn't get the bullet ages ago. He is surviving on goodwill from David Sullivan who still feels a little guilty for 'bouncing' Moyes after his first spell as manager by appointing Manuel Pellegrini in Moyes' stead.

Defeat at Leeds will surely see the 59 year old Scot given the heave ho with Mark Warburton taking the reins most likely assisted by Mark Noble, a role he would be reluctant to take but would for the good of the club. The hunt for a new manager began BEFORE the World Cup, but those candidates who were available were not convinced that the London Stadium is the place to be, especially Pochetino and Tuchel.

David Moyes transformed the club's fortunes, but it is time for someone with renewed energy to take over. If Moyes is kept on there is a distinct possibility the club would lose it's Premier Leaguer status, that would have a knock on effect that could take YEARS to redress.

Our message to David Moyes is: You have done brilliantly, but bow is the time to move on before your legacy is destroyed, it is not as if you need the money is it?

I've a feeling Marky Mark won't get involved with the running of the 1st team and will already be aware of an impending announcement. I have an incling something radical and totally leftfield will come out in the next few days around the Leeds game.

A new primed manager straight out of leftfield ready with a new backroom team installed.

As for who that will be, I have not got a clue, but I suspect he will be foreign!

Young, hungry managers who know some young, hungry, English players with a work ethic not tainted by overinflated wages. They ARE out there. Worked well for us in the past and apart from a few rare examples, better than hyped up foreign players of no loyalty apart from £££ signs.

We need to clear out the deadwood. 2 new fullbacks is a must. Diaz from Blackburn would hopefully give us an option up front. As for manager? Apart from the obvious teo I think we are screwed. Personally, I would ask Tuchel to come in for 6 months to sort the team out and if he fits offer him the job. Sort of try before you buy lol

A mate of mine mentioned Harry Newell the other day, assistant to Ange up at Celtic...another one in the mix, but hey, has to be better than the dross being served up presently.

HNY everyone...

but he won’t leave Celtic until the end of the season so I have a feeling unless someone from left field comes in I think Moyes will still be here until the end of the season. The problem with Moyes is he has the players to get us out of trouble but has to harden up and drop players that aren’t performing and play younger players that have a bit of pace.
