Nuno Espírito Santo Is Set To REMAIN West Ham Manager

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Tue, 26/05/2026 - 14:06

Nuno Espírito Santo is expected to remain at West Ham United after further talks have taken place.

Numerous sources yesterday suggested that Nuno was set to face the sack after a meeting with the club, but yesterday evening, it turned out to be inconclusive.

Daniel Kretinsky, who is rumoured to have levelled his stake with David Sullivan in the club, has been an advocate for Nuno to remain in his position. Meanwhile, David Sullivan wants to trigger the ‘free release clause’ West Ham placed in the Portuguese manager's contract and sign a manager on a free.

After further discussion today, the club are now more willing for Nuno Espírito Santo to stay in the Championship and believes he could be the right man for the rebuild that the Hammers are set to undergo, as well as most importantly, tackle the task of taking West Ham up at the first time of asking.

Other candidates are yet to be explored, but at this moment in time, the Hammers are likely to remain with Nuno.

It's not often a big club goes down and retains the manager. So Nuno doesn't want to walk then? That surprises me to be honest. I'm not questioning his integrity, or loyalty. It's the fact that he's prepared to put up with the poison dwarf still?

Plenty of mileage in this one yet I feel..

Ten men couldn't carry, couldn't carry Lampard.. Klint!!!

That's the sadder part for me, that this will endure and not be sorted quickly. I'm not for knee jerk rections but let's face it his tactics are questionable, and personnel selections equallly so at times. They'll be 23 clubs attacking us like a pack of wolves next season. We need a manager with backbone and a serious plan that doesn't change so drastically week to week

I'm sick and tired of these managerial changes which has resulted in a team this season relegated with a hotchpot of Moyes old boys, Lopetegui signings, Potter signings and finally a couple of Nuno buys, not to mention the questionable discardings of certain players who at least had another season left in them that could have done a decent job looking back with hindsight.
Yup. I'm ok with Nuno staying, certainly after reading some of the names beong touted around as replacements but I suspect there will be many fans who will be on his case from the word go just as Allardyce found out irrespective of whether the brief (promotion) is achieved.
Nuno started with us with one hand tied behind his back,he wasn't allowed to bring in any of his backroom boys, instead, was lumbered with a motley crew of youth and U21 team trainers who it would seem didn't have a scooby. I don't think it's any coincidence that things improved when Paco appeared and hopefully some of this protracted meeting with the owners was to confirm his appointment amd maybe a few more of his aides.
I fully expect a huge clearout this season and a few more incomings, hopefully without a Sulliven interference and a whole summer to put things together. In my opinion, only then can we judge whether he is good enough and I highly doubt it will be pretty.

You know it's funny. For once in Nuno we have, the most qualified, suitable and experienced Manager in the Championship. Lets not forget, he has experience with Wolves in this division also which is perfect. Whist also knowing the players and the set up.

I can only feel he and his agent are renegotiating a contract, With certain clauses and assurances.

If he was available, we'd be crying out for him. For all of those reasons. So it's a blessing in disguise I think. Would Orgers really want Parker, O'Neil, Bilic? Yes they could maybe get us up. But they'd be sacked after 6 games in the Premier League. For being out of their depth. As has been proven with Parker.

I know Nuno had his critics I was one of them. But this is the Championship remember. We're playing Charlton and Lincoln. Not Chelsea or Liverpool. Having a Manager who can adapt at a lower level. Should pay dividends?

For once I am optimistic going forward under him. Also I should point out, if it does go the way of the pear, he won't last the season that's for sure.

Will he have got assurances from Kretinsky that the 'Pint Sized' prick won't have any say in the players coming into the club other than their pay?
