Pundits Proclaim Ownership Thoughts

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sun, 24/08/2025 - 11:37

After West Ham's dreadful showing on Friday night, it caused the sports world to erupt with criticism from Hammers fans to pundits to players and even generic football fans.

Fans gathered on radio stations and talk shows to discuss the abysmal performance that we had just seen, and a wide ranging amount of criticism was made. Fans blaming the manager, pundits blaming the plays, but most admirably were Rob Green and Jamie Redknapp, who not only gave spot-on analysis, but criticised the owners and exclaimed how there are so many issues on the pitch and even more off the pitch.

Rob Green spoke about the issues at West Ham and the problems the club has always faced structurally "It all points to one direction - It's the board, the owners. It's been there since the get-go, since they took over the club, and it's been that pointer: "Let's come to a world-class stadium and build a world-class team." They've got the stadium - so they think - but they're a long way from having the side.

"You do wonder how someone like maybe Declan Rice papered over the cracks in the success of the European season, how much someone like Jarrod Bowen is papering over the cracks of having a successful season here.

You look at it all and think, 'There's never really been a coherent plan,' and that's what Graham Potter had at other clubs - at Brighton for example, that's what they all had: A coherent plan."

Every single word Rob Green uttered is completely and utterly true, and it's a breath of fresh air for many fans to hear an ex-player criticise the board to a level as such.

In light of Green's comments, Jamie Redknapp wasn't afraid to throw his own out there, "If I'm Sunderland, Burnley, Leeds, I'm looking at West Ham and thinking, 'they're the ones, they're the weakest team in the Premier League we're going to catch'. "That squad isn't good enough. They haven't got enough good players." As harsh as those comments are, 99% of the fanbase would agree with him.

And in regards to transfers, “They need four, five, six new signings. They haven't got the quality. I've seen some defending in my life... that was as bad as it gets."

The club have managed to put themselves in a situation where the squad is in need of another transfer window, and this summer window hasn't even finished yet.

A friendly reminder that the transfer window closes in EIGHT days...

Those comments will just make the dwarf dig his heels in even more instead of taking action.
Everyone and there dog new what was needed the one man who didn't is Sullivan and his ego will be stung more so now than when we the fans were making noise about how poorly run we are.

He has had his media buddies cover for him for so long but blood is in the water now and the media will go into a frenzy and that will hurt him more than an empty stadium ever will.

To change a manager is easier than changing the owner,so where does this leave us,basically this is a hopeless situation,Sullivan wont sell at this stage to get maximum back,we dont own the ground f*s,so what are we just a team on paper, business with a lease on a ground, dosent really sound solid we were beter off at Upton Park we all know that.Relegation seems inevitable, and yes we wont come back in a hurry,i know im not coming up with a solution,we need to stay in the Prem thats a must, and Sullivan isnt selling,we all know this, just venting it out......Its a proper f*ck up this, that just rips the heart out of us all

If the owners had built on moyes euro win, and made the club appealing we would be attracting players like elliot from Liverpool, mainoo from united etc. Young, hungry talent on the fringes of big clubs. Instead we are shopping for the likes of Wilson and walker Peters. I'm sorry, we can call Potter all the names we want, he's the target. But it's the owner who's put us here.

I'm not so sure the squad in its current form is premier league standard. Which will mean nothing short of a relegation dogfight. We are one of 4 in the mix for 3 to go down as things stand.

I am watching with interest the Forest situation. If Nuno goes as his wranglings with the owners continue. I'm pretty sure Sullivan will push the eject button on Potter and get Nuno in.

We have an International break about to come up and time for a change? I don't know about incoming transfers. Maybe Sullivan will be a bit more pro active with his back up Manager plan in the back of his twisted little mind.

The only certainty is more uncertainty. These are shit times and no mistake...

If we're gonna go down, at least do it in a way that's enjoyable.
On a more serious note there's not many managers available with a good track record of handling clubs deep in the brown stuff. Dyche maybe, Big Sam is happy with occasional punditry and Pulis is in Egypt in semi retirement.
Nuno hasn't got that much of a track record for the job and much as I'd like Big Ange, we ain't got the players for for him. Strangely enough, I think this could be a job for Fat Frank. He does give kids a chance.

We could become the 1st PL club to go through the entire season without a win, we are that bad! The poisonous dwarf has utterly fu**ed this club. Must be the most clueless football owner out there. Can't blame the manager. Sure we all think there's better players in the team that what he puts out but at the end of the day, we've been owned by a skin flint owner that does nothing to improve the situation. Pay day loans used to buy over the hill players. How many players have we made a profit on in the last decade. I read it was 7! 7!!! And sully calls himself a businessman. I hope the protests at the ground start really soon and don't stop until he realises he's one of, if not the most despised owner in football.

I think you can still blame the manager, Potter is equally clueless, the squad is not great but also not bad, this clown cant get a tune out of them.

Agree about Sullivan and he will be nervous about the protests, just look at the reaction last time!
