West Ham United have shown desire to bring Sparta Prague protoge Adam Hlozek to the London Stadium this month, Sparta are demanding £20 million for the 18 year old striker, although the initial fee would only be around £14 million with the rest as add ons.
On the one hand it is an extraordinary fee to pay for an 18 year old, but Hammers defacto Czech target agent, Tomas Soucek, has recommended the youngster most highly, rating him as the best young forward available in Europe at this time, an impressive accolade indeed.

It should be remembered that it was on Soucek's advice that David Moyes signed Vladimir Coufal, and we all know how successful that transfer has been. Moyes is renowned for giving youth a chance, IF they are good enough, with Wayne Rooney being a prime example, Moyes gave him his Everton debut in 2002 when Rooney was only 16 years old, Rooney spent two seasons at the Merseyside club, before moving to Manchester United for £25.6 Million in the 2004.

Hlozek has been on Hammers radar for quite a while now, and it is possible that he could be signed in addition to another striker in order to feed him in to the first team gradually, the other striker, again a player who has been closely monitored since last season, is Bournemouth's Josh King, who reminded people of his ability by scoring a brace during Saturday's FA Cup 3rd round game.

A move for Hlozek would also depend on 'sympathetic' financial terms being agreed with regards to the 'tranche' payments for what is potentially a very exciting signing, whether Sparta will be prepared to go along with Hammers' never never deal is up for debate.

In the short time between writing our first striker article and this, there have been even more developments, news of which we shall bring shortly.- Ed

Four Crying Out Loud Strikers!

Inevitably since the departure of Sebastien Haller from West Ham to Ajax, speculation has been rife with regards to who, or whom, would be replacing the catastrophically unsuited to the Barclays Premier League dud. There are as you would expect names a plenty being mentioned, so we have decided to list them in a two part article, the first list of which follows and is alphabetical:

Patson Daka is a 22 year old striker currently with Red Bull Salzburg, whose agent is ex-hammer Frederic Kanoute. It is claimed that West Ham are interested in the youngster who has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season and is keen to move to the Premier League, he would cost around £15 Million.

Real Madrid's out of favour striker Mariano Diaz is available and tentative negotiations for a loan deal have begun, the 27 year old has struggled since making his £23 million return to the Bernabeu from Lyon in the summer of 2018. At Real it hasn't worked out for the Dominican ace, however he proved during his time with the Ligue 1 outfit that he has what it takes to cut it at the top level as he scored 21 goals in 45 games for the French club. A loan deal for Diaz would be relatively inexpensive, and might suit all parties.

West Ham are also said to be interested in Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard but apparently the 22 year old has shown no interest in coming to the London Stadium, preferring to angle for a move to Hammers' more illustrious and wealthy Neighbors Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. Of course the opportunity of being in the starting line up regularly would appeal to the French Guianan, but perhaps David Moyes wouldn't want to sign a player who saw West Ham as his fourth choice of destination. A fee of £22 Million been mooted.

And finally, we usually like to save a 'whopper' for last, it is alphabetically last as well, apparently the Irons are going make a bid for Watford's £30 Million rated Senegalese flyer Ismaila Sarr, utter tosh, especially when it transpires the original source was those bastions of honesty 'Lady Muck's The Sun! - Ed

So That'll Be The Dia!

Among the horse riding fraternity there is a golden rule, if you fall off your horse, the first thing you do after having dusted yourself off is to get straight back on again, thus wiping out any fear you have of remounting while teaching the horse who is boss once and for all.

Having had an extremely poor 'Gallic' experience with 'Le lazy Sulk', AKA Sebastien Haller and prior to him 'Le Snake' AKA Dimitri Payet, the Hammers hierarchy will be more than wary of dipping their toes back in to the French market for players, however their previous recruitment was done without current manager David Moyes who has a much more hands on approach to transfers, the signings of Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma testify to that.

David Moyes has convinced the board that there are still good hard working young players available from acrosss the channel, and to that purpose he is actively pursuing a deal to bring 24 year old Boulaye Dia to the London Stadium from Stade Reims. Dia's agent, Frederic Guerra, suggested that West Ham have already made an approach to sign his client for a fee of around £10n Million rising to £14 Million.

The stumbling block for any deal involving the electric paced striker, who is in the final 18 months of his contract, is that club Reimes want to keep him, and they are able to offer Champions League football. The plusn points are that West Ham, despite being the Barclays Premier League's poorest members do have the funds to finance the deal, following the departure of Haller to Ajax for a £25 Million loss, and will move swiftly to get the deal over the line, possibly as soon as this evening .

Although Moyes currently has only the one established striker at his disposal, Michail Antonio with his temperamental hamstrings, Moyes will already have established his 'hit list' of potential recruits, he will also be aware of some of the U-23 and youth players who could feature in the FA Cup 3rd televised fixture against Stockport on Monday evening.

Josh King has been the bookies favourite to join West Ham due to the fact that his contract with Bournemouth expires in June, but it appears Moyes would prefer the more athletic Dia over the more ponderous King, that said they both look like greyhounds compared with the player they are being lined up to replace.

A front man who can actually run who isn't named Antonio? That'll be the Dia!- Ed

Hammers Demand Massive Sell On Fee For Haller

Hot on the heals of the Haller 'loss bombshell' incurred by the striker's move to Ajax, word has reached us from a disgruntled member of staff that the 'deal' wasn't quite as straight forward as it first seems. The world and his brother have 'lumped on' about the huge financial loss, including ourselves, however it now transpires that West Ham insisted on a 'massive' sell on clause, rumoured to be 20% but it could possibly be as much as 25%, in order to sanction the deal.

Of course there will still be a massive loss, but eventually it may be mitigated should the Irons receive the 'brucey bonus' from a sell on, provided Haller doesn't continue to play with the lack of passion while he was at the London Stadium. The club have been rather coy with regards to the exact details of Haller's transfer, with the official statement being surprisingly short. "West Ham United can confirm Sébastien Haller has joined Ajax on a permanent basis. The Ivory Coast international centre-forward ends his stay with the Hammers after making 54 appearances in all competitions and scoring 14 goals across 18 months, following his summer 2019 arrival from German club Eintrecht Frankfurt. The 26-year-old returns to the Netherlands, where he previously spent two-and-a-half seasons with Utrecht. West Ham United would like to thank Sébastien for his contribution to the Club and wish him all the best for his future career.

It should be noted that there is no mention of the fee, how it will be paid, and what sell on details if any. Usually clubs hide behind the 'undisclosed fee' statement when the details of 'sensitive' transfers are made available, but there wasn't even a mention of that. We have even heard that Ajax are going to pay the transfer fee in instalments! Albeit over a twelve month period, as opposed to the up to three year period involved in many European transfers.

The club statement regarding the departure of Haller is hardly a shining accolade, possibly one of the reasons for which being Haller's first interview following his move to Ajax, during which he made it plainly obvious that the move had been in the offing for some considerable time. “To be honest it’s already a few months, a few months that I knew it (about the move to Ajax). So I always stay in contact with the coach, we spoke because we know we had a good relation before in Utrecht. We always spoke between each other so of course when I knew that the deal was possible, I was happy. I just had to be patient with the situation, then things were possible so they made the move.”

These words will not go down well with Hammers fans, many of which questioned whether the player wanted to be at the club, well they have their answer now, his lackadaisical approach always looked as if he wasn't interested in playing the lone striker rule, and apart from the odd spectacular goal, fans were more used to seeing the big Ivorian fall over on his backside after hardly being touched.

Haller will probably be a success in the less demanding Dutch League, his value will more than likely go up again, and Hammers might just recoup a further £10 Million in sell on fees, that is of course assuming that the information we received was correct and they DID have the good sense to insist on a healthy sell on Premium, they wouldn't be so stupid as to not, would they? - Ed

NB: Andy Carroll cost the Irons £236,440 per match to appear over the course of seven injury plagued seasons, with each of his goals costing £1.5 Million, total cost, a staggering £54 Million in wages and transfer fee of £15 Million! Haller's brief spell cost the club £550,000 per appearance, each of his goals costing just under £2 Million! Fortunately Haller wasn't at the club for a lengthy spell, otherwise the figures could have been even more damaging.

Half Price Haller Horror

Half Price Horror Sale! Pellegrini Signed Us For Over £100 Million, We Are Worth Less Than Half Now
Some might say losing £25 Million in order to sell your record signing is atrocious business, which it is, whereas others might say that West Ham were extremely fortunate in achieving even £20 Million for misfit striker Sebastien Haller. It should be remembered that prior to his 2019 arrival at the club, Haller was NOT Manuel Pellegrini's first choice as striker, Maxi Gomez was the player sought by the Chilean ex-manager of West Ham but a deal could not be put together.

The naivety of the Hammers board was exposed and exploited by the wily Pellegrini who recognised the apparent desire to spend big in order to justify the move from the much revered Boleyn Ground to the White Elephant that is the as yet still unbranded London Stadium.

There must be several despot states that would love to be able to relieve people of their funds with the efficiency of the 'Pellegrinophile'! £45 Million for Seb Haller, £36 Million for Felipe Anderson and £22 Million for Issa Diop represents an outlay of over £100 Million, where did it all go wrong?

Haller has joined Ajax, where he will probably bang goals in for fun, Anderson is bench warming while on an unsuccessful loan at Porto, and Diop's form has dropped off the cliff to such an extent that he finds himself behind Watford's Craig Dawson in the starting line up!

So there we have it, for an outlay of £103 Million the club has now lost £25 Million on Haller, while Anderson's value has halved meaning an £18 Million loss, Diop has not gone down in value, but he certainly hasn't gone up, despite being young and previously superb at the back.

Of course West Ham do not have the monopoly for signing over priced heavy loss making players, that honour is shared jointly by London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, particularly the latter. The signings of Anderson, Diop and Haller were a classic example of a narcissistic manager who was obsessed with his 'big club mentality' ethos, but was actually in complete denial, the result was a totally imbalanced squad which had gaping holes in it that needed addressing but they weren't.

The grim reality is West Ham could not afford to lose £50 Million before the Covid-19 epidemic, let alone now, however there is hope that David Moyes if given the proceeds of the Haller sales might just be able to work his magic in the transfer market, with the Czech Republic being his primary 'honey hole'.

If used wisely, the Ajax money can fund the arrival of a much needed 'proper striker' who doesn't fall on his backside at the slightest of touches, a left back and an additional midfielder as cover for Rice and Soucek. It is rather ironic that the only signing Pellegrini and his director of football Mario Husillos made was that of Pablo Fornals, who was the least 'fancied' of the influx of players but has turned out to be the best, and the only one that David Moyes appears to trust.

A European place is tantalisingly close for the Irons, this season more than ever, but having been 'torched' by Pellegrini, the Hammers hierarchy will be loathe to go down that road again, however if they don't back Moyes they may well regret not taking the genuine opportunity, one that they must have dreamt of in the past, of finally reaching the 'next level', a promise they made in order to justify the move from the 'hallowed' ground that was the Boleyn. - Ed.

Moyes Has To Make 'Painful' Decision

Without a pot to proverbially fill, David Moyes embarks on his January transfer window with some amount of trepidation, he knows he has to sell to buy, his problem is who to sell, and equally as important, who would want to buy them? There are a number of players whose contracts expire at the end of the season, thus rendering them financially valueless once the window has closed, the club has to either extend their contracts or sell them on while their sales can still generate funds, albeit in a limited capacity.

Lukasz Fabianski, Fabian Balbuena, Mark Noble and Robert Snodgrass are all those moving in to the final stage of their contracts which will expire in June, Fabianski and Balbuena are 'nailed on' for renewals as they are both performing well and playing regularly for the first team. Noble and Snodgrass are in a different category, Noble will more than likely NOT have his current contract renewed, any offer would be to become a member of the back room staff, an offer he would probably gladly accept even if he takes a 'gap year' to be with his family, the thought of 'Marky' plying his trade at a different club is unimaginable!

This leaves us Robert Snodgrass, a player who has earned the right to play having established himself as solid and reliable. Having been sent out on loan during his early time with the club, 'Snoddy' returned and fought his way back in to the first team and was one of Moyes' 'golden boys' during his first tenure as manager.

Despite being more than capable, Snoddy has found himself at the back of a very long first team queue, his opportunities having dried up due to the presence of Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek and the re-emergence of Manu Lanzini among others.

Apparently Big Sam wants the 33 year old Scot to join him for West Brom's relegation fight, it is a challenge that the player would relish, because despite being very fond of West Ham and being incredibly popular at the club he is after all a footballer approaching the end of his career, and as such needs to play every minute he can for his own well being.

No one could possibly begrudge Robert Snodgrass a move that would ensure him game time in the Barclays Premier League, even if it is only for the rest of this season. West Ham could receive a 'decent' fee of around £2 Million for a player who can leave for free in six months, and the player himself would be able to do what he likes best, play football!

If Snoddy does move on during this window, everyone will wish him well, as he has been a good servant to the club. Best of luck Snoddy - Ed
