Right Back Where We Belong-Vida 31

With most fans hoping and praying that the rumoured take over bid for West Ham has more legs on it than Hammers' troubled defence, there is one acutely 'painful' reality that has to be faced, namely that all the billy big bollocks clap trap about moving to another higher level has failed to materialise since leaving the Boleyn Ground four years ago, in fact in most observers opinions the only 'other' level the club is potentially going is down.

The move to the London Stadium was supposed to generate funds and was seen as an opportunity for the club to expand it's already large fan base, the shiny new stadium was supposed to attract talent from all over the world, drawn like moths to a light. Sadly none of the hopes but plenty of the fears have been realised, even ahead of the 'Diangana Gate' scandal it was obvious all was not well at 'Camp Misery', the Covid-19 pandemic giving the club's owners and hierarchy the excuse they needed to 'rein' back their spending.

It is one thing to rein back spending, it is another to totally halt all investment and then follow that up with the relatively wholesale departure of players and virtually a complete lack of new blood coming in. David Moyes' thoroughly justifiable mantra for the need to bring in young hungry players to the club looked like it was going to be upheld, especially judging by the arrivals of Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek, alas that was the sum total of the club's acquisitions.

The banality of pretending the club are just waiting to pull the trigger on the James Tarkowski deal is matched only by the hypocrisy of club statements, the grim reality is that the desperate need for two new full backs has not gone away and while 'bargains' from Wigan and other lower league teams have gone elsewhere West Ham are now left feeding on scraps, and to that purpose step forward 31-year old Croatian Domagoj Vida.

It is not that Vida isn't a decent player, but does he bring anything better to the club than the current incumbents? Not really, he probably represents a slight improvement, although that wouldn't be too hard, but at 31 years old he is the complete juxtaposition to the young hungry lean and mean template Moyes has set out.

Unfortunately this is what things have come to, and the more rumbling about a take over there is will only mean one thing, and that is the owners most definitely putting their hands in their pockets when it appears they are getting ready to jump ship. If and it is a big if, the club do bankroll David Moyes towards the end of this window it will be good, but the caveat would be if the board put further funding in they are highly unlikely to part with the club, in the short term at least.

So as has been said regarding West Ham on several occasions, "be careful what you wish for". - Ed

Smoke And Mirrors Irons Transfer Deja Vu

Yesterday we alluded to the fact that there are alarming similarities between this season and the seasons before regarding Hammers bidding low for 'unattainable' players for a protracted period of time before the owners turn round and say "We tried our best but couldn't get the deal over the line". At risk of sounding like a broken record, this 'tale' definitely strikes a chord of Deja vu among fans who have heard it all before, so the NEWS that the club have failed with their third bid for Burnley's James Tarkowski will come as no surprise to anyone who knows the club's recruitment history.

All this of course helps 'muddy the water' with regards to other aspects that will have a lasting effect on what has become a beleaguered club, transfer talk and take over talk are meat and drink to the 'Sultans of Spin', the more plates they have up in the air the harder it is to get any real information other than that which has been carefully spoon fed to the media, particularly their pets, Talkshite Radio and Claret and Not True!

There is truth in the take over rumours although the details, as one would imagine, are not in the public domain and why would they be? So any 'information' currently doing the rounds is purely here say and merely conjecture on behalf of the author depending on what their preferences are, unfortunately the smoke' created by the take over rumours helps obscure the truly awful state of affairs at the club with infighting beginning to filter through.

There is an almost surreal atmosphere surrounding West Ham United at the moment, with supporters willing a deal would get done yesterday! That's not going to happen, but what will happen is that the club are about to embark on a sequence of six tricky Barclays PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURES with a completely imbalanced squad, that is fact not fiction, and while fans are dreaming of a Sugo Free Christmas, the grim reality is that the only fare on offer over the festive period is more than likely going to be 'bare bones' and another relegation scrap, unless 'realistic' transfer targets arrive within the next fortnight.

Smoke and mirrors from the owners, you betcha! - Ed

Report: Something Fishy About Take Over 'Leaks'

Some people infer that we are over zealous in our criticism and overly sceptical when it comes to West Ham United's hierarchy, this may be explained by the fact that in the 20 years the Org has been running we have seen little evidence to convince us otherwise, and it is not only the unholy trinity currently in possession of the club, but the bunch of criminals who preceded them and in turn the bunch of cowboys who oversaw the pillaging of the club's assets back in the Brown and Cearns era!

Manipulating the Press is a very cost effective way of 'floating ideas', and is a course of action championed by those currently in power at the London Stadium. Having seen their investments, mainly based in office and retail real estate, lose almost half their value since the Covid-19 pandemic, the owners are finally looking to jump ship, or are they?

The 'take over' rumours have been so expertly drip fed that the 'content' is more than a little bit suspicious, in fact it has all the hall mark of a concerted act of 'Sugoism', a term soon to be added to the English language which means if you make enough noise about a 'target' you might just find a mug to facilitate your plans. Step forward Jim White, or James Brown Nose' as he is wonderfully referred to by our own Flying Physio author Darren Harry, White and SUGO are a classic example of how the old boys network runs, owners tell 'mouth piece' what they want 'filtered' through and mouthpiece duly obliges on Talkshite!

The very consistency and regularity of the recently 'exposed' take over bid(s) information is more than a bit fishy and smacks of a back story that would not have looked out of place in the Sunday Sport, that astonishing publication owned originally by David Sullivan that gave Karren Brady her platform to 'greatness' (sic). So if you use the integrity of the Sunday Sport as a template, information released via the club mind you, has 'ratcheted' up the asking price from £350 Million to upwards of £400 Million. Co-incidentally 'Lady' B recently added a hiked up value of the club on her own website, claiming that with her help the club is now worth an eye watering and totally ludicrously high £800 Million!

By announcing the existence of so called potential suitors with a snippet here and a snippet there, the Hammers hierarchy are hoping to buy themselves time until just before the transfer window closes on October the 5th, at this point they will most likely sell Declan Rice, get a dodgy player in part exchange and then pocket the rest of the cash to 'fill the hole' in the club's finances caused by the Pandemic. By the club doing the transfer late, David Moyes will be deprived of the funds he could have used to strengthen the squad, instead the cupboard is going to be increasingly 'raided' until there is nothing left, at that point they may well decide to sell up, leaving any potential new owners with a club that has nothing except fond memories of what the club once was, although judging by the advertising content of their 'pet' website C&H, they seem more interested in 'mammaries' rather than memories.

Moyes "We'll Try To Win Cup"

nevillenixon's picture

Every one and his dog has been 'jumping on' the troubles currently being experienced by West Ham United, poor recruitment, stingy owners and a Stadium not fit to play in, Barclays Premier League survival is the best that fans can hope for, or is it? Firstly with the addition of a couple of full backs, a central defender and a spare striker David Moyes could have a very impressive first team, and more importantly strength in depth for crucial areas.

Having accepted that any aspirations of European football or a top six finish are fanciful to say the least, the spirit of most fans will however be lifted if the team can go on a decent cup run, and despite there being no 'chalice' at the end of the competition the EFL cup DOES represent a chance to bring a feel good factor that would go a long way to establishing a better atmosphere at the Bowl of Misery, AKA The London Stadium, when fans are eventually allowed to attend.

Like him or loathe him, David Moyes is no mug and he sees the 'Moose Cup' as an ideal opportunity to give several fringe players a run out, however he does seem to be taking the competition seriously judging by his comment on the club's official website www.whufc.com.

I’ve always tried to win every cup in which my club has been entered. Ultimately though, the Premier League will always be a priority for every member club because of the finances it generates, particularly during these times made more uncertain by the presence of COVID-19. Tonight’s game will provide me with a chance to give some players an opportunity to show me what they can do. I have always believed throughout my managerial career that success in any competition is a good thing.

Well if he does what he says he wants to do, he will be the first Hammers manager in an age to take the Cups seriously and to recognise a good cup run represents a win win situation, after all, the club doesn't have a European campaign to deal with and as such should be at an advantage over other club's who do have European commitments.

From the sixties and throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties and through to the new millennium West Ham has been a bit of a yo yo club, never staying in the lower leagues for long but also never being able to establish itself as a 'top club' in the top flight, good cup runs provided fans with the hope and happiness that saw them through the bad times, and there have been plenty of those!

Essentially a club in West Ham's current condition, ie broke, can only work towards Barclays Premier League survival at the best, but a good cup run would change the environment and emphasis of the players, winning breeds winning, and hopefully Moyes' desire to do well in the EfL Cup will be reflected by the team he selects tonight. - Ed
