Did anyone else notice that the Ladies team beat their Spuds counterparts 1-0 this week. Excellent, two 1-0 wins against the North London wannabes in a week. COYI.

Submitted by chrislea19 on Wed, 09/03/2016 - 11:04

Morning Everyone,

not been on here for a long time partially as I forgot my log on and never got round to resetting the password.

But any way... I know its a long shot but I don't suppose anyone knows or has a spare ticket for Sundays big game (preferably 2)?
Thanks

I was just wondering your thoughts on this scenario. Should we get to the final of the FA Cup (please God), would Bilic keep with Randolph or play Adrian? Personally I think it would be shame if Randolph was dropped as he has proven to be a decent keeper who has played his part.

Your 3 to go down?

As we enter the home stretch, it's probably fair to say that in this topsy turvy unheralded season nothing should be taken for granted. Leicester's unbelievable run at the end of last season, saving themselves from what seemed certain doom gives the bottom teams something to cling to and emulate.
Now with WH needing to overhaul 11 points to win the league, there's an 8 point gap between the 16th and 17th league positions. With 1 pt separating 17th-19th it looks like 2 from those 3 to join a doomed Aston Villa who find themselves 9pts from safety and playing like a League 1 side.
So who's your 2 to join AV? Sunderland managed by the never been relegated SA, Norwich in a wretched run of form, or Newcastle managed by the Wally with a brolly? Or do you see 1 or 2 of those managing to drag someone else into the mix?
Me I'm hoping for Sunderland, Newcastle, Villa, but I see Norwich struggling to drag themselves out of the drop zone which will probably save one of the North East's finest's blushes.

Did Benteke Dive?

Pardew was incensed with the decision to give a penalty to Benteke in the CP/Pooh gave the other day, and despite his rambling interview post match where he didn't cover himself in glory was honest enough that his substitutions had zero effect on the game.
Despite his protestations about the timing of the penalty, doesn't matter if it's 1st or 91st, I personally thought Benteke dived. If the player had missed him, I reckon he still would have hit the deck looking for it, but despite the minimal contact (I know, the payer is entitled to go down from the contact), to me it really showed poor sportsmanship yet again. Must be a Scouse thing, cheating, after Besic' s dive in the WH match. So I guess after that I have 2 questions
1, Did he dive?
2, Is minimal contact sufficient to award a pen?

That Was The Week That Was

Three games, nine points, the burying of a hoodoo and a plethora of players returning from injuries, that was the remarkable week that was for West Ham United! For Hammers fans used to a diet of crash and burn during the latter part of the season, this one is uniquely different. The early season involvement in the Europa Cup was a bit of a poisoned chalice for Slaven Billic and his team, but with players now returning from injury with abundance there are those who are beginning to seriously believe this Hammers side can achieve virtually anything, in fact the bookies have been taking unprecedented amounts of bets on West Ham WINNING the Barclays Premier League! There is a slight caveat, namely most of the bets are each way, with the understanding that nothing short of a miracle will prevent Leicester City from winning, however, they do have to play a rejuvenated West Ham side again. The stunning comeback against Bogey team Everton will have empowered the players, but Slaven Billic will be quick to bring them back to reality, because if he doesn't there could be the risk of complacency, and Premier League opposition take no prisoners, however the feel good factor surrounding the club is infectious and success has a habit of breeding success, so why not dream, it's been a god awful long time since West Ham fans have been able to hold their heads up high going in to work with their 'big club' supporting colleagues and long may it continue.
West Ham 1 - 0 Sunderland
West Ham 1 - 0 Tottenham
Everton 2 - 3 West Ham
and the Sakman is back!
That certainly was the week that was! - Ed

Goal No. 3

Not sure if I'm seeing this through C&B tinted specs, but I seem to have a different take from every pundit and report I'm reading on it.
'Long ball punted up field, headed down back of the net', seems to be the view on it but for me it was a beautifully executed move.
Now Cresswell's cross field ball was inch perfect and the pass you look for if you have a big target man. He looked up, and put it on his head. Feck, if that had been Beckham a few years back, the commentators would all be blowing their wads and patting each other on the back as if the messiah had parted the red sea. But it's West Ham and Cresswell's not an England international for some unknown reason, so it's a hopeful punt up field right off page 1 of BFS's football tactics. (That's a 1 pg book btw)

The knockdown from Carroll is outstanding, beating 2 defender's to the ball, a lovely flick from Sakho, that again, if Messi had done, you'd think they'd been a stag party in the commentary box judging by the wads of kleenex. Payet is right on hand as all top quality players are and slots it beyond the keeper.
I sat and watched the goal about 50 times last night (kept rewinding it) and fail to see how it's a route 1, hopeful punt. Looks wonderfully crafted to me.
Anyone else?

what a day

Now Plaistow has done this far more justice than I. He was there for starters. But he also nailed the build up. The atmosphere, quirks of the boozer, charity funding, opinions of the side etc. I've been there too and and it's a tough gig sometimes, accepting strange fans opions noons about our beloveds, but hey, shit happens.
Where did I watch it?
Ahem.
With my 7&5 year old.
Jesus what have I created?
The other half was out pre planned family stuff. What was I to do? Weather was foul, homework was done, it seemed innocent enough to set them up with their drawing paraphanelia as I found www.hammerstv.com.
It's not all swings and biscuits. I had to fetch the sick bucket as "Keys and Gray" appeared on some bizzare forum.
Seriously, looking back (hindsight is interesting) but they are major c*nt gravy of the highest order. Their pomposity is beyond belief.
I digress.
I would say the whistle went, but for West Ham it didn't.
Now here's where you don't like me.
We were fucking shit for 77 minutes.
Slow, boring, predictable, and here's the crux, lucky to have 11 men!!
Why? Well we started like we normally do....comatose.
I don't get it? Our passing is sluggish, tempo non existent...why?
I know we have to earn the right, but laying down and sucking Lukakus cock will not help(what we basically did)
I almost switched my laptop off at HT but for my eldest who said "we've got Payet Dad" (he's always been my favourite)
And so the second half.
Andy lumbers on. I'm not thrilled.
Neither is he team.
2-0
Fuck them it's going off "no Dad you always say it's not over till the fat lady sings" (eldest) I've bred an intelligent git......
Ref decides to count his pubes as another cheating fuckwit blue nose dives, "penalty!"
I'm now in the kitchen and pacing the table wondering how many times well be torn open in the shitty north west.
5 year old chirps up "Dad, Adrian is brilliant at penalties! He'll save it!"
I barely acknowledged until they both shouted "yes!"
I ran in
He'd only saved it.....
My boys were jumping and shouting Adrian's name....and it was that moment ladies and gentlemen, that I remembered why.....
It matters not about the result, game, outcome...
It's those moments. Those times.
Like a camera flash.
For them it snapped it, and they adore Adrian (not least because he is a star and embraces the fans)
I'm not going to mention those last 3 goals. I'm not good enough to capture my boys celebrations.
Suffice to say we kissed, cuddled and bundled to the extent I've done something to my back that's not good, but I'll take it, and the pain.
We shouted, screamed, caused mayhem and delirium.
After calming down we had pizza, ice cream and fell asleep before match of the day on the sofa.
A tangled mass of West Ham shirts.
My boys now lead me.
Together. Always.
Beautiful.
