West Ham United have finally pulled out of signing Scott Hogan from Brentford, the asking price of £15 Million and a late bid from Aston Villa having put the mockers on the deal. It was a lot of money to ask for an injury prone and untried at the top level striker, West Ham are well experience in that area after all! Which inevitably brings up the question of why on transfer day the club are not looking to bolster their striking options?

The sordid saga that was of Dimitri Payet and his agent's making has finally and unedifyingly ground to it's inevitable conclusion, make no mistake the £25 Million Marseille have ended up paying for a player they 'tapped' up is an insult, but nowhere near the insult that Payet has inflicted on those who embraced and adored him in their thousands. Perhaps this over paid and currently over weight player might come down from his cloud and think about all the thousands of kids who had a Payet or number 27 shirt printed.

West Ham United have signed Southampton captain Jose Fonte for £8m on a two and a half year deal, the 33 year old Portugal centre back who spent seven years at Southampton made a transfer request with 18 months left to run on his current Saints deal, to some west ham fans this may seem an extortionate amount of money to pay for a player who is well past his sell by date, but those in the know seem to think differently. The transfer includes a possible £1m in add ons and gives Fonte the option to extend his contract for a further year.

Ex-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has upped the stakes in the Dimitri Payet transfer saga enormously by arranging for the Chinese super league club Hebei China Fortune that he now manages to offer Payet an 'insane' deal. The terms of which are off the scale, £500,000 per week on a three year deal! That equates to over £75 Million, and will be a test for his home sickness, it will also be a test for other parties involved, particularly Payet's agent and also West Ham's hierarchy. Imagine how Jacques-Olivier Auguste, Payet's agent, feels at the moment?
