West Ham United were well and truly shafted at the London Stadium, not by opponents Manchester United but by that tour de force of refereeing known as Mike Dean! Not only did he incorrectly issue a straight red card to Sofiane Feghouli within the first quarter hour for an innocuous but commited tackle that Phil Jones milked from here to closing time, but he compounded the injustice by allowing Manchester Utd's second goal to stand despite scorer Ibrahimovic being clearly offside. The old adage of there being no smoke without fire might be applied to the increasing speculation that 34 year old striker Jermaine Defoe could return to West Ham United, a club who many believed that he let down badly by 'jumping ship' following relegation many many years ago.
