What on earth is going on with todays supporters? a friend of mine is a big Wolves fan and his son is to well was..the boy was 14 couple years back and decided he had had enough of Wolves and decided Chelski was his side a team that wins things(i no)but now that they are going through a bad run he has decided that Arsenal are his team now.

We all are thinking it i no..he's not a fan he may like watching football but he does not support a club...his Dads upset that his son doesn't attend games with him anymore and despite trying to educate him that supporting a club is not always about winning things the Lad will not change.

Then my mate tells me his boys not the only one like this and a lot of his schoolmates were the same.....being old school as we are once you found your team you stuck with them through thick and thin accepting the bad with the good and you can never change no matter what as you will not be taken seriously as a supporter if you did.

Any of you come across the same? because to me/us chopping and changing your team is a complete and utter no no and something you cannot comprehend.

I couldn't ever fathom changing sides, no chance! Nev engrained the West Ham Way into me at the age of 2, I'm sure he tried sooner!

It'll always be West Ham for me, never a change, regardless of what League or situation.

Agreed Bikey, an utter no no

Yes its a sign of the times and symptomatic of the society that demands instant gratification but without the effort of work or time. Shallow and entitled, the age of immediate data from the internet and zero interpersonal skills.

The lad you mentioned Mac will miss out on so much that life throws at you and makes you stronger by following either your family or local club. Precious time with his Dad, building memories, becoming a man, making friendships with real people, take the rough and the smooth of life, experience the exhilaration of when your team does well and Wolves will come again I'm convinced, it might not be a cheating Chavski Euro win celebrating with a bunch of deluded tourists, more likely to be just returning to the Prem league, a cheeky beer with your Dad to celebrate with numerous Black Country locals, your neighbours, your people showing pride in their local club.

I know which one I prefer, took my grandson to Villa Park last week, fifth generation Hammer, I swore I could feel the spirits of my Dad and Granddad with us and he didnt give a fig about the score.. just time with his Dad and Gramps!

Its not just about the club its about the community you build with the people who surround you the friendships you make the memories you keep and special bonds that cannot be broken but it seems todays generation just want the highs and none of the lows and by doing that they are missing so much more.
Glad to here you have born a new generation to suffer Dartford lol and i am sure he had fun day out shouting with his gramps and singing songs there is still hope it seems.

The little fella had a great time and the memory will live on!

Friendships I have made by being a Hammer with other likeminded poor souls, three lads we ran into in a pub on the outskirts of Bristol when we were in the second league I think in 1979... been close friends ever since!!!

Back when I lived down south. We moved house in 1993. Next door one side were a family of spuds. The other side were Palace fans. My eldest lad was 7 at the time and the Palace kid was the same age. His dad was a big Palace fan and was a fireman in south London. He used to commute 15 or so miles a day up the A23. Anyway around the millennium I remember saying something to my lad about Palace. He replied with oh he doesn't support Palace anymore. He supports chelsea now. They'd have been around 15 by this time. I said what? Never understood it and I bet his dad was gutted.

Even if its Palace. That FA Cup win would have been soooo much better than all the bought trophies Chavski accumulated!

When my Son was about 9 he asked why we support West Ham. I told him we originate from East London and that his Grandpa and Great Grandpa were also West Ham. He said.. Arsenal are also from London... He now walks with a limp but he's still a Hammer!!!
