Informed rumour has it that Sam Allardyce's Sunderland are contemplating a massive £8.5 Million bid for West Ham defender James Tomkins when the January transfer window opens. Allardyce has long been an admirer of Tomkins and feels that the 'Toon' can offer the Hammers Academy graduate a lucrative role that includes the Sunderland captaincy, such is his appraisal and admiration of the Clark Gable look alike, that in fact after the Hammers victorious play off final at Wembley against Blackpool FC, Allardyce declared " This is the most handsome centre back you will ever see!" They were all supposed to look like Steve Bruce!
But what value can be placed on an Academy graduate who has come through the ranks and ticks all the right boxes for an inspirational home grown English player? Priceless! Tell Big Sam and the Mackams to sling their hook with their cash! - Ed

Just like with Ginge no way we'd let anyone of our center halves go. Tomka has been a loyal servant and a pretty decent defender on his day. Sorry big Sam you can't have anyone of our players.

There is no way Tomkins is going especially for only 8mill. As for collins he is worth more to us than we would get for him.

I'm with RNI 8m if Arsenal think Jenks is worth 15m then Tomkins is worth more.

Obviously it depends on Bilic's plans and the player himself.Tomkins is a solid proven premiership defender who I thought would go for at least £10m if he was sold.Bilic might have other irons in the fire in his squad rebuilding ,so it's a case of wait and see.

£8.5 million is about the going rate for an average centre half these days, and that's what Tomkins is.
I've never been his greatest fan but I'd be more inclined to offload Ogbonna than him purely because Tomkins is more versatile. But money talks and if £8.5 million is considered sound financial business then he could well be on his way.
