Fixtures Elsewhere - Who’s Challenging Who Come Crunch Time

The Hammers have recently stepped up their efforts to make this Premier League relegation fight interesting, as with 13 matches to go, the gap has closed down to three points, meaning across the remaining fixtures, anything is able to happen.

Across the Hammers’ remaining 13, we find ourselves playing five of the current Top 6 and then just three relegation candidates, which include Leeds United on the final day of the season.

Manchester United (H), Liverpool (A), Manchester City (H), Aston Villa (A), Arsenal (H) + Wolves (H), Crystal Palace (A), Leeds (H).

Unfortunately for the Hammers, it appears certain ‘relegation’ candidates have begun to pull away and full attention has to now be turned towards Leeds and Nottingham Forest.

Leeds are set to face four of the top 6, but they’re also facing four of the teams around the Hammers, which could be to great effect. Chelsea (A), Aston Villa (A), followed by Manchester City (H) is a miserable three fixtures in a row to have, but in order for it to go from bad to worse for Leeds, West Ham need to make the most of that period, in which Nuno’s side will face United, Bournemouth and Liverpool across that same upcoming period.

Nottingham Forest, who are West Ham’s closest relegation rivals, with being just three points ahead, have the easiest set of fixtures remaining of all the candidates to go down. On Wednesday night, they face Wolves at home… in which the result seems inevitable. With a tough game against Liverpool to follow, but then a game against the struggling Seagulls at the AMEX.

On paper, Nottingham Forest may be out of the FA Cup and therefore have fewer games than both West Ham and Leeds, but seeing as they’re still in the Europa League, that’s a guarantee of two extra games, giving them the dreaded schedule which Hammers fans know all too well.

Games can be predicted, tables can be made, but at the end of the day, anything can happen in Football and we’ve seen some unexpected results from all sides this season, Nottingham Forest beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield, while Leeds beat Chelsea 3-1. All candidates have got a fight ready, it’s just a question of who will be the last standing in the cage. - LN

Apparently we have some injuries tomorrow, but Nuno is not saying who. I noticed Pablo limping after the Burnley game, after his brief cameo!
