Plan Ahead Of Wolves Game

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Sat, 01/10/2022 - 08:21

Just in case you hadn't seen, the London Over Ground is NOT working in ANY capacity today ( 01.10.22) for at least 24 Hrs on what is a rarity, a Saturday kick off a the Queen Elizabeth 11 Stadium, albeit one that was moved from the traditional but never seen 3PM time slot!

Strange how there are NO disruption disputes when Major 'Sadist' Khan's Tottingham are playing at home isn't it? But you can guarantee that when West Ham are at home there will be all sorts of 'urgent' works that need to be carried out towards Hackney Wick and Stratford.

Being able to embark at Hackney Wick makes the arduous trek to the Stadium far more enjoyable WITHOUT the need for the dreaded traffic light systems so beloved of the combination of club and Westfield security services...there is also the safety issue involved of having SO MANY additional people attempting to 'filter' through what is already always a busy 'choke point' on match days.

The club were quick to ask fans to relist their tickets on ticket exchange, without a mention that we could see of ANYWHERE officially from the club mentioning the impending strike action! There are going to be a lot of disappointed and very late arrivals today. The situation is compounded next week with further action that will see the Overground suspended, the only slight advantage being that the game is being held on a Sunday, so it will be possible to join a nice THREE hour queue away from the Stadium! - Ed

Moyes Doesn't Want To Be In Top 6!

nevillenixon's picture

Having finished in the top six in the previous season and top seven in the last, David Moyes had his sights set on confirming the club's 'best of the rest' status this season, unfortunately instead of being in the top six of the Premier League he finds himself in a rather different top six, one which he would far rather be disassociated with, the tops six in the next manager to be sacked race!

David Moyes is currently actually FIFTH on the list, only Brendan Rodgers, Ralph Hasenhuttl, Steve Cooper and Bruno Lage are ahead of him on the chopping board! Hammers loss of form is NOT dramatic, it is a hang over from the end of last season that has not seen the 'hair of the dog' as yet, Moyes does actually look worried, and so he should be.

Having managed in excess of a staggering 1,000 games Moyes knows all about what a results driven game it is, had he not had such a huge amount of experience he would already have been dismissed from his role as West Ham manager, but there is a belief he CAN turn things around, but his time definitely IS running out.

A couple of wins and a draw with a defeat or two thrown in will probably be enough to earn 'Moysie' a reprieve, but even if he does hold on to his job, the likely hood of the Scot being at the helm next season is highly unlikely as Daniel Kretinsky's influence is felt more and more ahead of the departure of Messrs Gold and Sullivan once they are able to purchase the Queen Elizabeth Stadium at Stratford without having to pay ANY money back as a premium!

Expect the 'Kretin in the Sky' to install a 'trendy' young manager like Thomas Frank in the not too distant future. Here are the current sack race odds (not sponsored) :

Brendan Rodgers 1/1 Ralph Hasenhuttl 2/1 Steve Cooper 6/1 Bruno Lage 8/1 David Moyes 10/1 Steven Gerrard 12/1 Antonio Conte 20/1Frank Lampard 25/1 Jesse Marsh 25/1 Jurgen Klopp 25/1 Roberto De Zerbi 25/1 Marco Silva 33/1 Erik ten Hag 33/1 Graham Potter 33/1 Patrick Vieira 40/1 Eddie Howe 40/1Thomas Frank 50/1 Mikel Arteta 80/1 Pep Guardiola 150/1, No Manager To Leave 200/1

News:Injuries Avoided-For Once-But Is Davey In Danger?

nevillenixon's picture

With players off to all parts of the globe, including Michail Antonio's ludicrous crossing over to the Americas to play in a dead rubber defeat to Lionel Messi's Argentina, the club's medical staff feared the worst of what is the beginning of the deadly dozen of games ahead, NINE of which will occur between the beginning and end of October alone!

Manager David Moyes could be gone before November if results keep going against his relatively expensive but only recently acquired 'new squad' of players, such is the pressure of trying to feed at the top table, someone always takes a tumble in the rush for the remaining 'chair'.

To continue with the musical chairs analogy, Hammers have been 'lucky' for the last two seasons in that their close competitors ALL set about paths of self destruction in one way or another, unfortunately this season they ALL seem to have got their act together in unison, which leaves West Ham very exposed and with very little hope of emulating the last couple of season's high finishes.

Many are saying is that the best the club can hope for is a bit of mid table safety this season in anticipation of a successful following season once all the new players have bedded in, the problem is that by then Declan Rice will be off, as will Jarrod Bowen and one or two others!

The light at the end of the tunnel for David Moyes is that ALL of the players who have been away have reportedly returned without any major injury issues, it's about bloody time! That doesn't mean most of them won't be a bit cream crackered, but it is the price you pay for having top class players.

Word is that David Moyes has only been given FIVE more games to save his neck, we don't think so. Having bank rolled Moyes substantially during the summer window, the board will be most reluctant to pull the trigger now which would leave any incoming manager with players that were Moyes's choice and not theirs and we all know what incoming managers like to do don't we?

Until things virtually reach the point of no return the board will stick by Moyes, realistically they have no other option, they have made their bed with Moyes and are going to have to share it, like it or loathe it, at least until January by our reckoning.

How much it would cost to terminate David Moyes's contract isn't exactly known, but the cost of bringing in almost an entirely new first team a new manager would insist on could bankrupt the club. Moyes is very close to being at the top of the 'chop list'. - Ed

The Most Well-Known Gambling Companies That Have Sponsored English Football Clubs

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Wed, 28/09/2022 - 08:01

There's nothing like the buzz at an English football match. The atmosphere, the intensity: it's what makes the game special. And it turns out that betting companies and online casinos from aussielowdepositcasino have been sponsoring many of these teams for years now. English football clubs don't need to go looking for sponsors.

But it's not just big names like Nike and Adidas that are keen to sponsor sporting outfits. In fact, they're often approached by Australian gambling sites and casino brands who want to get their name out there by sponsoring a local team. Some of these companies have even found themselves promoted as the main sponsors of an English club for an entire season!

According to a recent study in The Daily Mail, bookmakers are financing over half of all Premier League teams' budgets through sponsorships and advertising deals. That figure jumps to nearly two-thirds for Championship clubs but drops off significantly for lower tiers such as League Two (just 7% of funding).

In fact, there have even been legal disputes over whether or not players should wear gambling logos during matches due to potential conflicts of interest with team officials who receive money from betting companies while also being responsible for player safety during games. So here are some of those most well-known brands:

Betway

Betway is a British-based online gambling company that sponsors West Ham United, the English football club based in London. Betway has also sponsored other sports teams, including the Northern Ireland national football team and Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

The Betway brand offers an online sportsbook service as well as a casino. The company was founded in 2008 by Tony McAlpine and Craig Paterson after they left Bwin Interactive Entertainment (now known as GVC Holdings). The company has its headquarters in Malta and is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. It also has a presence in Spain, Italy, and several other European countries. Betway’s sportsbook is licensed by the Government of Gibraltar.

It is a member of the Remote Gambling Association (RGA), the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), and the Interactive Gaming Council (IGC). The company also has content-sharing agreements with major sports organizations such as FIFA, UEFA, NASCAR, and F1.

The company has over 500 employees, including a team of in-house lawyers and accountants. It was named the “Best Online Sportsbook Operator” at the eGaming Review Awards in both 2016 and 2017. Betway also won an award for its mobile app in 2016. In addition to sports betting, Betway offers casino games such as roulette, blackjack, and slots.

William Hill

William Hill is a British bookmaker and betting shop operator founded in 1934. The company was first listed on the London Stock Exchange during the same year when it began to expand its operations. William Hill also sponsored Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

William Hill’s logo is instantly recognizable – it features an unmistakable black horse silhouette with a jockey cap on top of a white background which makes it stand out against other betting companies' logos that are often cluttered or difficult to read at speed.

William Hill is one of the most popular bookmakers in the UK and has over 3,000 betting shops. It is also one of the largest sports betting companies in Europe. The company is also licensed in Australia, Ireland, and Belgium, as well as being an online bookmaker. The company has over 15 million customers and is one of the most popular online bookmakers in the UK.

In 2010 SportPesa launched its first sponsorship deal with Scottish Premiership club Heart of Midlothian F.C., offering £1 million per year over three years.

In 2016, SportPesa signed a three-year deal with English Premier League club Everton FC. The sponsorship agreement included branding on the team’s jerseys and social media channels. This marked the first time an African company had been allowed to display its logo on a top-tier English football team’s kit. SportPesa also has sponsorship deals with several other European clubs.

In addition to sports betting, SportPesa offers online casino games and a mobile app. The company claims to have more than one million registered customers around the world.

The company was founded in 2001 by Denise Coates - its current CEO - whose family set up bookmaker William Hill back in 1934. Despite being relatively young compared to other gambling companies, it still manages hundreds of millions of pounds per day on its sportsbook alone!

Why Do Companies Sponsor Football Clubs?

To many people, the idea of a company sponsoring a football club seems like a strange one. Why would they do it?

In simple terms, companies sponsor football clubs because they want to be associated with them and increase awareness of their brand. In some cases, it might also be about getting access to new markets or trying out new technologies. However, there are other reasons why companies decide to get involved in this type of advertising.

Companies that sponsor football clubs are hoping to make a profit. They’re looking for ways to reach new audiences through their association with a team, and they want people to remember them when they do so. For example, if you see the name of one company plastered across the front of a stadium where your favorite football club plays, you may suddenly become aware of this company. It’s likely that you’ll either think about buying products from them or buying something similar in the future.

Another reason companies sponsor football clubs is that it’s a way to get around restrictions on advertising. In some countries, companies are not allowed to advertise on television or radio, but they can advertise in public places like stadiums.

This is especially true in countries where there are strict rules about advertising alcohol. For example, in the United Kingdom, companies are not allowed to advertise on television or radio during certain hours of the day. However, they can place advertisements at football matches and other sporting events.

Summing It Up

The benefits of gambling sponsorship for both the industry and football clubs are many. The list of companies that sponsor English football clubs is one of the most comprehensive in world football. The sport has grown exponentially since its inception, and with this growth comes more opportunities for commercial sponsorship deals. At the end of the day betting has been with us virtually since time began, people win and people more often than not lose, you rarely see a poor bookie! But if you keep a lid on it betting CAN be fun...just make sure it's for fun only...stick to what older fans would know as 'five bob yankees' or accumulators as they are now known. - Ed

Right Back To The Start Again!

Thilo Kehrer's 'bargain' transfer from PSG is starting to look like one of the deals of the window, at just £10 Million Kehrer, already a fan favourite is destined for great things at the club, the only issue for David Moyes is keeping a centre back happy while playing him as a right back!

Thilo Kehrer’s game by numbers vs England were impressive: 100% long passes completed- 82 total touches - 77.8% pass accuracy- 4/6 tackles won-4 ball recoveries 4- clearances, all these stats are from Thilo playing in the 'unfamiliar' right back role.

David Moyes currently has the incredibly out of form Vlad 'the impaled' Coufal and injury prone Ben Johnson who also has to cover the left back berth as well as centre back. The less said about his centre back performances the better! Which only leaves Harrison Ashby as the other alternative, Ashby himself has only just recovered from a niggling groin strain but surely now MUST be the time to give him valuable minutes on the pitch as well as re-enfranchising his interest in the club, there are several Premier League clubs who cannot wait to get their greedy little mits on the Scottish U-21 International.

Left back is also a position that creates much concern, Aaron Cresswell has been an incredibly loyal and most able holder of the position but he is getting noticeably older of late and lacks the pace required of a modern day left back. Max Cornet is NOT a proper left back but his pace means he can compensate for errors he makes further up the pitch which alas Cresswell isn't able to do anymore. If Moyes doesn't utilise Cornet as a left back then apart from Johnson Kehrer is the obvious choice, unless Moyes tries to deploy Emerson in that role, but a 'proper' defender Emerson is not!

The team is currently in the bottom three of the Premier League for a reason, it cannot score enough goals and has been conceding too many, players who were metaphorically on fire last season have now become damp squibs. The reasons are fairly obvious to the distant observer, so they must be blatant to those really in the know.

Jarrod Bowen came back at the start of last season having spent the summer break humping tyres behind him on his parents' farm to get his fitness levels up and it showed, his preparations for this summer involved a different type of humping and it shows!

A footballer's career can be cut short painfully, just ask Dean Ashton and therefore it should be their prerogative to maximise every minute of their playing time, Jarrod has definitely taken his eye of the ball in the last 18 months, perhaps it is time for daddy Dani to have a word in his shell like? - Ed

NL Side Show Over-Music Facing Next!

Once Hammers fans gazed enviously at how many International players their competitors had away representing their countries, now they are experiencing the feeling for themselves, with mixed emotions. Be careful what you wish for is an expression remorselesly rolled out regarding the aspirations of the supporters of 'elite level' football clubs and it rings as true today as it has in the past!

West Ham regularly play in front of over 60,000 fans, have a team and a manager that have overperformed two years in a row and a relatively minted new board member who has helped bankroll a raft of desirable upper echelon signings from successful European and domestic sides.

All of the above mentioned are a source of great pleasure, particularly the younger generation of fans who have not had their spirits broken by years of no investment and repeated lies, compared with the decade on decade 'abuses' of the various owning 'families' of the club over most fan's lifetime's.

Unfortunately all of these reasons to be cheerful are masking what has been a catastrophic drop of form at the club that can be traced back to the initial departure of Alan Irvine as Moyes's No2 coach, the situation being compounded by Stuart Pearce's decision to 'seek pastures new'.

As if that wasn't enough, the retirement of 'Mr West Ham' Mark Noble has probably come at exactly the WRONG time given the vast amount of quailty players rocking up at the QE Stadium. Noble's down to earth 'honest' approach empowered and endeered new players in equal measure, his return to the club CANNOT come soon enough!

Louis Nixon's article covered much of this topic but he was perhaps too kind in his appraisal, the club's form over the last TWENTY FIVE games is the stuff of relegation, make no mistake. Of course the bulk of the deals that were done were completed right near the end of the window and as such the players have hardly had any time at all to get to know their new team mates, but the clock is ticking and they really HAVE to hit the ground running when the domestic season restarts.

David Moyes has nowhere to hide now, it is up to him to prove he really can mix it with the big boys, the squad he now has is moulded in his image and it is up to him to adapt to working with the higher level of talent he now has at his disposal. You can run but you canee hide Davie Boy, or should we call you Moysie? - Ed

Time To Put The Boot In Moysie!

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sun, 25/09/2022 - 21:58

The International break used to be a time when West Ham managers historically were able to work with their squad in order to 'catch' some teams by surprise when the domestic games returned, well that is all a thing of the past now with virtually ALL of Hammers first team or there abouts being called up to represent their countries.

So David Moyes will have very few players to work with in training while he keeps a cautious eye out for those who are away, the last thing the beleaguered Irons manager needs is yet more injuries! We have hesitated from jumping on to the Czech boys are no good anymore bandwagon, but realistically both Tomas Soucek AND Vladimir Coufal are shadows of the players they once more and deserve to be dropped from the team's starting line up.

Young Harrison Ashby should replace Coufal as soon as possible and young Flynn Downes needs to take over from Tomas Soucek in midfield, Moyes CANNOT in anyway be accused of not standing by his players but surely now is the time for him to utilise what he has at his disposal to the max!

All managers have their 'favourites' but Moyes needs to act now before he uses up too much of the credit he has accumulated over the last couple of years. In reality the writing was on the wall towards the end of last season, there has been absolutely NO improvement in form this season and something has to be done!

Why buy players you don't play and why disenfranchise the promising youth players by not selecting them? Bring back Irvine and Pearce along with Marky Noble, they would put fire back in the bellies! - LN

Just a week to go boys before the rubbish internatinoals are over soooo i'd thought i would put this little topic up.

who are the two greatest male singers/showmen of all time? young i maybe but i think you would be hard pushed to beat Freddie Mercury and Meatloaf.

I am sure Nev you will have your thoughts on this topic but i just think for vocal ability and sheer presence on stage neither can be beaten sadly i never got to see either of these two artists live but through watching film etc of them both in action i have yet to see another artist who comes close to what they did true god given talent and thankfully generations to come who have yet to discover them have a treat instore.

So any other contenders boys?

One Step Forward

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Thu, 22/09/2022 - 21:47

News that Mark Noble will be returning to the club as 'sporting director' has generally been greeted with joy and enthusiasm by most Hammers fans, it is clearly obvious that his presence has been missing since he retired at the end of last season, but what can he bring to the club in his new role?

Appointing Noble is seen by many as a constructive step forward, but like many new appointments there is no guarantee things will work out as planned and that what will be a step forward may well end up as being two steps back! This is in no way intended as a criticism of Nobes' ability, realistically it is a more balanced view of how events might unfold.

One thing that is for sure is that Mark Noble is NO MUG, he will not be rejoining the club to be a yes man. Through diligent investments made during his playing career Mark Noble is financially secure for the rest of his life, so he has no need to work ever again if he so wishes, but he does have a deep rooted love of the club that will give him the impetus to make his Mark, excuse the pun.

In the short term it would do absolutely no harm whatsoever if he did a bit of occasional coaching and was able to make himself available for certain match days as an additional voice in the players' ears, the dressing room is surely missing him and the team's results since he has not been there have been poor to say the least.

Bringing Nobes back into the fold will be a welcome fillip, but don't expect any short term miracles, because as in many things in life, sometimes you have to take two steps backward after one forward step!- Ed
