Bollocks At The Bridge

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Mon, 03/02/2025 - 22:55

It was a Monday night ruined by the officials; it appears to be a running theme under Potter.

1 bad loss, 1 win, 1 draw and 2 games that the officials have done us over, first the ridiculous corner at Villa Park, which sparked the momentum for them to go on and win the game, followed by the ludicrousy at the Bridge with the foul on Jarrod Bowen not being taken into account for the first goal, along with the offside decision for the first which supposedly didn't take a touch of Marc Guiu, therefore allowing Cucurella's pass into the box to stand which resulted in there first.

The second was unfortunate and came through Wan-Bissaka's deflection, as soon as the first one went in, it felt that we were destined to lose the match.

It's extremely tough to keep a high head after the last two matches have had performances that should've landed us 6 points, and we've walked away with a lonely 1.

Fortunately, we aren't exactly fighting for anything this season, but it feels utterly miserable to have great performances and end up empty-handed.

Potter decided to keep the four wingbacks in the starting team, and it's no surprise that Mavropanos wasn't reintroduced despite being back from suspension.

The loss of Edson Alvarez and Lucas Paqueta tonight affected us in the midfield department too. Replaced by Andy Irving, the Scotsman filled his shoes quite well, having a few shots here and there, along with the crowd chanting him on all game. Soler also had his moment turning into Gareth Bale in the Copa Del Ray while running past Recce James off the pitch.

Jarrod came back and continued on doing Jarrod things, capitalising on a Chelsea mistake and had us leading into the break.

It's all doom and gloom for the remainder of tonight, though, with a suspicion of a PGMOL response in the coming days announcing how they made an incorrect decision, as PER! That'll make everything better, won't it?

A great performance from Potters lads tonight if we look past the tragic decisions, we set out with the right team and the right tactics, and we fought for the badge tonight all in all.

There's not much to say apart from 'Onwards and Upwards' after that match, a disheartening one for the fans at home and at the Bridge itself.

JWP is back you for or against it?

I welcome him back because hopefully Potter wont try and get him to do stupid things like Moyes did and Loppy preferred an old south american relic in his place.
After tonight we have two weeks before the Brentford game and that will give Potter plenty of time to reintergrate him and the new signings(he says holding his breath) before we take on Brentford. So i will be interested to see how Potter sets the team up.

That's why JWP wears 2 pairs of pants when playing golf. In case he gets a hole in, well you get where I'm going

JWP must be feeling like he's hit an ace as he comes back to West Ham. At last a proper Manager. Who can get the best out of him. Moyes bottled it with him, leaving him out eventually. In favour of more less mobile types.

The Spanish Donkey clearly did not have a clue as we now know! JWP should be a starter every game now and get back to his best. Box to box, up and down. He will thrive under Potter and I predict he will win the fans over pronto!

Not that many need winning over. Those with half a brain will have worked it out already.

Welcome back JWP...

A ‘Yes!’ From The Coast But Not One To Boast

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sun, 02/02/2025 - 10:05

It has been revealed this morning that West Ham United have managed to sign Evan Ferguson.

We’ve been competing for the Brighton player’s signature all window and have finally managed to strike a deal; however, it will come at a cost.

The club have agreed on a deal which is a straight loan and there will be NO OPTION to buy.

Having a no-option clause in a deal like this really isn’t ideal for the Hammers.

If you’d like to look at the positives, you could say that Potter and Kyle have done this because they need more time to identify targets yet still need someone this season so a straight six-month loan would be good enough.

A straight six-month loan on an injury-prone player is better than striking a deal of a six-month loan with a £40,000,000 obligation.

Along with that, it was probably the only way they could get dismal Dave to agree to any signing, so we’d have to settle with a loan.

However, the Hammers now run the risk of another Lingard situation or another Kalvin Phillips.

There’s a chance we get him in and he does brilliantly for us, instead of the £40,000,000 fee Brighton was demanding, they’ll suddenly be asking for 60m+ because he found a bit of form.

Or, we've dodged a bullet in the case that he gets injured straight away, and he's ruled out for a long time.

Evan Ferguson’s loan deal is set to be agreed and his medical is expected to be completed within the next 24/48hrs.

The loan fee is anticipated to be between £1,000,000 to £5,000,000.

West Ham will cover his wages entirely and bonuses are expected to be included too.

One Step Forward, A Further Step Back

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sat, 01/02/2025 - 13:28

West Ham United were encouraged by the latest news from Graham Potter's words along with training photos showing Jarrod Bowen back in training, along with a video about Summerville which saw the likes of Todibo in.

Jean-Clair Todibo is currently targeting a return for the home match against Brentford on the 15th of February.

It is also to be said that Nicholas Fulkrug’s return will be quicker than expected, however… take of that what you will with that news because it came from dithering Dave upstairs not Potter.

It all just seems like a preemptive excuse for not signing a striker this window.

Despite the good news of Todibo and Bowen, the step back comes from the news that Lucas Paqueta is currently suffering a suspected groin injury, it isn’t expected to be a long one but it is most likely set to keep him out for the game against Chelsea.

Not only is this reinforced by the fact that he hasn’t trained this week, but along with our limited numbers, it’d be almost foolish to play the Brazilian.

Our Brazilian Magnifico has recently been the chosen one to play in the false 9 position, our doubts about Uncle Ingy have forced us to play Paqueta out of position, but it seems to be working, and under new management, you just end up admiring what a player he is and the dexterity he has.

On Monday night, not only would a result here boost the team’s morale even further, but it would be the sweetest of revenge for Graham Potter as he would love to return to the bridge and come back with 3 points.

Our backline receives a small boost with Mavropanos back from suspension after his red card against Crystal Palace, but after Potter’s intriguing four-wingback starting eleven against Aston Villa which saw us dominate, will we see Mavro back? Or will we be surprised again by another youth introduction?

Kaelan Casey has reportedly trained with the first team in these past few days, so perhaps he could see his first well-deserved start under Potter.

It was rumoured and spotted that a total of EIGHT youth players were involved in first-team training, the big question is, how many are involved in the matchday squad?

Has Football finally fallen on it's sword

Submitted by Enfieldhammer on Fri, 31/01/2025 - 18:35

As one does this time of year. I find myself looking for tit-bits or crumbs on potential transfer movement in and out of West Ham.
It has been very uninspiring. A bit off a damp squib. Nothing from the great & good transfer experts on Sky. Just will he won't he regarding Ferguson. At this stage of the game we are likely to end up with Sir Alex rather than Evan.
But not only us. The whole window has been a farce. Maybe it's time to do away with these windows?

Hammers To Strike Or Hike?

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Tue, 28/01/2025 - 14:33

With an extended winter window is it West Ham’s chance to finally bring in another striker, or is it time to give the rumours a rest and accept the inevitable feeling that no signings will be incoming?

Under Potters reign so far we’ve seen the boss utilise the youth academy but the majority of our promising attacking youth are practically all out on loan!

George Earthy alongside Callum Marshall are both currently out on loan and the Hammers sealed their own fate through negotiations due to not having a recall option.

So with the use of youth out the window regarding the attacking options, our hope is left to Uncle Ingy, or dithering Dave upstairs.

The latest news is disappointing, to say the least.

‘Still Looking FC’ has struck again with Taiwo Awoniyi being ruled out due to Nottingham Forest’s vast price point, along with RB Leipzig’s Andre Silva starting to run out of patience with us as we’ve been delaying for a couple of weeks now.

The latest rumour to spark up and crash down would be Bryan Brobbey, the young Dutch international who had reportedly flown to London in an attempt to force a move to us.

Ajax stated that it would take a 6-month loan with an obligation to buy of €30,000,000.

However, a reoccurring theme of the club ‘not having enough money’ keeps coming up, despite our supposed £57,000,000 bid for Jhon Duran, which was rejected earlier this month.

The club is still weighing up the decision to go for Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton, with the Seagulls now open to the idea of a loan deal which earlier on the window they refused to accept.

Ferguson is said to be Potters’ number-one choice, yet his injury record is causing us a headache in deciding whether to go for him or not.

So, with all our current striker targets seemingly ruled out and with a week left in the transfer window, should we attempt to scramble a striker in and bite the bullet on another potential failure of a striker?

Or should we learn our lesson, attempt to wait and let Kyle work with Potter to come up with some targets.

The only downside to this would be that we obviously wouldn’t have anyone for the remainder of the season due to Fulkrug’s lengthy spell-out.

Swings and roundabouts for West Ham at the minute…
