What Has happened To West Ham’s Reece Oxford?

When West Ham defender Reece Oxford debuted for the club at the age of 16, big things were expected from him. However, subsequent loans have sent Oxford to three different clubs including Reading, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Augsburg. Whether its Premier League or Bundesliga football, fans can use the William Hill promo code on the weekend games, to back their favourite teams to win.
The centre-back has featured in just 802 minutes for the Hammers in his career, but he has played far less for his other clubs. Oxford recently endured a horrific match with his on-loan club Augsburg. The German side were thrashed 5-1 with Oxford being given a red card.
Augsburg are mired in a Bundesliga relegation fight and Oxford is in the thick of it. Now 20-years old, West Ham are not missing the former teen sensation and there are expectations that Oxford won’t be back in the Hammers first-team next term.
Reece Oxford – Hero to Zero

Oxford was loaned to Borussia Monchengladbach for the 2017-18 season. The Bundesliga club, like others in the German top-flight, was eager to bring over a young English player. Although Oxford didn’t make his Gladbach debut until late October, he impressed greatly when he broke into the team’s starting XI.
The centre-back's play and development were so impressive that Monchengladbach began talking to West Ham about a permanent transfer. The discussions influenced West Ham to end the loan and bring the defender back to East London. Due to his success in German, Oxford was expected to get a shot with West Ham’s first-team.
But West Ham were fighting relegation and David Moyes had no intention of handing the 20-year-old a significant role. Oxford wasn’t helped by an ankle injury following his return and he played just four minutes under Moyes. West Ham shipped him back to ‘Gladbach just one month after being re-called.
Back at Borussia Park, Oxford was in the team throughout February and early March until a torn muscle limited him to one more appearance for Monchengladbach.
Reece Oxford – A Season to Forget

The 2018-19 season started with plenty of hope, but so far, has ultimately turned sour. Oxford spent much of the season’s first half playing for West Ham’s Premier League 2 squad. He did feature in two Carabao Cup matches, but in January, West Ham sent him back to Germany.
Borussia Monchengladbach passed on him with the team fighting for a top four place in the Bundesliga. A move to relegation fighters Augsburg came to fruition. Until his red card against Freiburg, Oxford had played in four straight games.
Although Oxford’s red card was reported on negatively by the English media, it did come in second half stoppage-time. Sure, that lessens the fact the defender was sent off. However, it doesn’t take away from the five goals he and his teammates shipped.
Reece Oxford – Peaked too Soon?

There is every reason to believe Oxford peaked way too soon. He was ushered into the West Ham first-team at 16 and expectations were then placed upon his shoulders to become a top-notch player.
The move may have led Oxford to believe he had already made it as a professional, harming further development. At 18, he signed a contract worth £20,000-a-week – or £1.04m a year. Few teens make that kind of money and it could be a factor in his career trajectory.
Can Oxford recover? Yes, absolutely, but there is a long list of teen sensations that were out of the professional game after burning brightly only to fizzle out.

Felipe Anderson has been called-up to the senior Brazil squad. With nine goals and four assists, the 25-year-old has been one of West Ham United’s standout outfield players this season – his first in English football following a club-record move from Italian side Lazio last summer. The winger’s fine form for the Hammers has been rewarded with a place in Tite’s selection for two friendly international matches in March. Brazil will take on Panama in Portugal on 23 March before heading to Prague to tackle Czech Republic three days later. Felipe Anderson will hope to impress and establish himself in the squad for this summer’s Copa America, which will see Brazil host the tournament and take on Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru in the group-stage. Previously, the No8 was placed on standby for the 2015 version of the same competition, making his debut in a warm-up match against Mexico in Sao Paolo on 7 June of that year. The following summer, Felipe Anderson was part of the Brazil squad which participated in the 2016 Olympic Games, defeating Germany in a penalty shootout to win the first men’s football Gold in the country’s history. Should he feature, Felipe Anderson would become the first Brazil international in West Ham United history. Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate Felipe on his inclusion and wish him all the best on his return to the international stage.

Rice wins Young Player of the Year accolade at London Football Awards
Declan Rice has scooped the Young Player of the Year Award at the London Football Awards 2019. Presented to the defensive midfielder by fellow West Ham Academy graduate and Club legend Tony Cottee, the 20-year-old saw off competition from Crystal Palace's Aaron-Wan Bisska, Arsenal's Matteo Guendouzi, Karlan Grant of Charlton Athletic and Eberechi Eze of Queens Park Rangers to lift the accolade at Battersea Evolution on Thursday evening. "It's a huge honour to be here tonight and it's very special for me to have this award in my hands," Rice said upon receiving the honour. "I want to say thank you to my manager, Manuel Pellegrini, for believing in me and trusting me this season, and giving me the opportunity. "I also want to thank my teammates and my family; my mum, dad, brothers, and girlfriend, because without them I wouldn't be here today."

Rice's recognition as the best player under 21-years-old in London continues a fantastic run for the Hammer, who has made 29 appearances for West Ham in all competitions this campaign.. Rice's incredible form saw him rewarded with a new contract, until 2024, at the end of 2018, while the in-form talent marked his 20th birthday with a first goal in Claret and Blue, netting a brilliant strike in the 1-0 victory over Arsenal. In receiving the honour, Rice is the first West Ham player to win at the London Football Awards after Dimitri Payet was named the Premier League Player of the Year in 2016. That same season, the Moore Family Foundation was honoured as the Community Project of the Year. In its fifth year, the London Football Awards, sponsored by Toscafund, raises funds for former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson OBE and his wife, Megs’ charity, Willow - the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.

I know its only one game but I was quite impressed with Ben Johnson and games like this he can only improve he did Quite well against Riyad Mahraz and he is no mug lost him a couple of times at the beginning of the game but once he settled down thought he did quite well which resulted in Mahraz having a frustrating game and substituted. Who knows could be another Declan in the making as long as he is coached properly and doesn't end up like Oxford did

Tempuri Or Battered Pundits Predict Hammers At The Etihad

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Wed, 27/02/2019 - 12:19

Last time we at the Org remembered, Barclays Premier league football was a game played between two teams each comprising of eleven players with three substitutes available to be used from the bench, the game is played on a pitch, not paper and usually the visitors supporters out sing the home crowd for much of the match. To read some of the pundits and fans comments there seems little point in West Ham even turning up to play all conquering Manchester City at the Etihad for this evening's fixture.

The prognosis being that City, despite having a mini injury crisis, have such strength in depth and will blow the Hammers away with their slick football. That may eventually be the case, but to down tools before the match is disgraceful both for the other teams in the Premier League and the fans who will have travelled a fair old distance for this rearranged fixture, many of which will be heavily out of pocket having originally booked travel and in some cases accommodation for Tuesday night when the match was originally going to be played.

Much in the same way as Mike tyson in his prime or the West Indies cricket team in their pomp in the seventies, many opponents were beaten before they even started, and it wasn't until Lennox Lewis and the Aussies changed peoples' perception about the 'unbeatable'. Sure enough the once indestructibles began to get beaten, after all they were only mere human beings who were perceived to be better than they actually were, and it is this mind set that the West Ham players need to be aware of.

City have already had their 'mini wobble' suffering three defeats to lowly opposition, but the fact that they did lose a string of games with virtually a full squad available proves that even Pep's men can be vulnerable to teams that refuse to bow to their superiority. It all comes back to perception and intent, if Hammers go out to press City they will get punished, but for once Manuel Pellegrini, who will be returning to the Etihad for the first time as an opposing manager, has a surfeit of attacking options. If City are to be given a good game it is vital that Marko Arnautovic starts up top as he has the physicality to 'bully' City's defence, and although Samir Nasri might play against his former club it is highly likely that Pablo Zabaleta will be rested and that Ryan Fredericks will start due to his lightening pace that he possesses.

City need to win this game in order to maintain their title challenge and the possibility of doing the 'quadruple', Hammers need it to chase a Europa League Cup spot, Huddersfield's victory over Wolves will have definitely provided an added incentive for the pursuit of seventh spot. Manuel Pellegrini has talked about rotating the teams to play against City and then against Newcastle just three days later, but at least he now has what is beginning to resemble a squad as opposed to a M.A.S.H unit! The pundits reckon Hammers will be battered, or could that be tempuried? - Ed

Player power

After seeing yesterdays farcical situation when chelskis GK refused too be subbed and the manager exploding with rage you have to ask has player power gone too far? of course it has with players holding clubs to ransom and then refusing to play if they dont believe in the managers philosophy which normally means they aint getting picked so they spit the dummy...Sarri has had his legs chopped off yesterday by backing down and letting the player stay on the pitch...how can he continue after the world saw that...moanrino has form for it but players shown they are prepared too down tools unless they get there way Puel by dropping vardy was only going to end one way with the player openly questioning the manager and he too has paid the price with a string of bad results and the players again not buying into what the manager wants.
Sarri by letting the GK stay on undermined his own position he is the Boss what he says goes and any respect players may of had for him is gone....
