New Blood Or Same Old?

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Thu, 08/02/2024 - 09:59

The above is just one of the questions season ticket holders will be asking themselves when it comes to renewal time. On the face of it, renewing is a no brainer, serial Euro contenders and a squad to die for, albeit painfully thin!

The problem is football ISN'T PLAYED ON PAPER! Statistically, fans have never had it so good, but the manner in which results have been achieved is painful, terrible on the eye and hard to be enthusiastic about.

There are many who say the atmosphere in Stratford is dreadful, but that is NOT because of the stadium lay out, everyone knows it needs improving, it is because of the utter dross being served out as 'entertaining' football.

'Goofball' more like, even Moyes' most ardent supporters must admit that his particular 'brand' of football can be unpalatable at times, but that the results justify his team's cautious style of play, but how many of them make the trek across London to the Stadium itself?

Of course there have been highlights under the lights, particularly against European opposition who have not researched how single minded Moyes is! The fact is while the team DOES spring the odd surprise result, it spends the rest of the time making teams like Bournemouth and Brighton look like Barcelona in their pomp.

IF there were a fresh crop of youngsters being 'bloodied' for future campaigns then perhaps fans would be more forgiving, but as it is Moyes appears more intent on keeping his job by pointing to the data achieved under his stewardship than working towards the future.

A future that involves bringing youth through early, not just when there is a crisis, what ever happened to the 'Academy of Football'? Furthermore Moyes' propensity for buying old has beens has really hurt the club and is directly at odds with the remit Tim Steidten was given when he was brought in to over see transfers.

Moyes appears to be doing his absolute damnedest to obstruct Steidten and is blatantly trying, to shove Steidten to Hammers rivals Liverpool who DO recognise the German's brilliance.
If Moyes stays then Steidten will end up at Anfield, and why wouldn't he?

Are Irons A One Trick Pony?

It sounds like a simple enough question but it is one of great significance! By hook or by crook the club has assembled a pretty decent albeit painfully light in back up squad, with the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and James Ward-Prowse.

However the player who makes EVERTHING tick is Lucas Paqueta, without him the team seem devoid of creativity, with him they can be good enough to take on anyone! So has the team become a 'one trick pony' relying on our Brazilian maestro?

In a word, Yes would have to be the answer, we have also not mentioned Emerson yet who suddenly plays at another level when 'Pacman' is on the pitch pulling the strings. David Moyes or whoever is in charge come the summer had better find a way, because as soon as the betting scandal cloud is lifted from the Brazilian he will be off for massive money to City or Real or even Dortmund or PSG!

A path has to be found if the club is to progress, but it isn't going to be easy. Just look at City without De Bruyne, as soon as he came back from his long term injury their results have transformed and it would take a brace man to bet against them overhauling Liverpool to win the title yet again!

Someone has to find a way. It couldn't be from within the current squad or from the youth players could it? - Ed

Moyes' 'Love Child' Retires!

Submitted by nevillenixon on Sat, 03/02/2024 - 14:21

Former Everton and Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has announced his retirement from playing. The 36-year-old, won 87 caps for Belgium and appeared at two World Cups, he ended his international career in 2019.

Fellaini joined Everton from Standard Liege in 2008 and moved to United in 2013 before signing for Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng in 2019.He made 141 Premier League appearances for Everton, scoring 25 goals and registering 14 assists for them.

Fellani was 'adored' by Hammers boss David Moyes who brought him to Everton initially before taking him to Manchester United

Fellani was allegedly a Moyes target during virtually EVERY transfer window but their 'reconnection' was unrequited.

Fellaini scored 22 goals in 177 appearances in all competitions for United, who he helped win the 2016 FA Cup as well as the Europa League and EFL Cup in 2017.

Where Do Irons Stand?

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sat, 03/02/2024 - 06:21

After a virtual 'status quo' of a transfer window, an archaic Luddite of a manager looking to have his contract renewed and the scousers looking to steal the hubcaps of the only genuine staffing asset Hammers have, where does the club find itself at this snapshot of time?

Well a hell of a lot better off than some clubs, but well behind those who have left Hammers in their wake, such as Brighton and Villa. Is the problem aa lack of vision? Or is just a lack of desire to go all guns blazing into the future at risk of upsetting the apple cart?

With regards to the notoriously difficult winter transfer window, two out and one in doesn't seem that tragic, especially as both leaving players had to go, albeit for different reasons. Said Benrahma had to go because he was getting progressively worse if that was possible and Pablo Fornals wanted to go 'back home' to Spain to raise his young family.

If Kalvin Phillips hadn't had such a howler of a debut most fans would have been relatively pleased with the window, although Fulham's late move for Broja did hurt more than a little! Phillips will more than likely come good after his 'ring rusty' dreadful debut, it should also be remembered that iwas 'Zooooouma' who sold Phillips a 'pup of a pass' in the first instance, would Zou have been able to get the ball in similar circumstances? Possibly because of his guile, but definitely not because of his pace!

In a way Thursday's events were made just that more annoying because the team's incoherent performance meant the chance of putting clear air between the club and its immediate competitors was wasted, that is FOUR points dropped in the last two games!

Hopefully when the dust has settled Moyes will be 'offered a sniff' but nothing concrete, whereas extra security will ensure agents of the red variety are kept well away from Tim Steidten! - LN

Not Happy with this Window

Tim Steiden had a really good summer with Kudos and Alviarez but this winter has been really pants, Lost Pabs and Beni so to my thinking we are really light and in the Bournmouth game he had Mubama on the bench we all knew that was a token player because he played in the U-21's the night b4 so the only option was Granni Dings, and I think this is going to be like this for the rest of the season-match and patch, players out of position. Steiden Knows that we are going to be very lucky to stay in Europe made himsef look a pillock dealing with the wrong agent for Osman and he has'nt landed 1 player this saeson cos Moyes has been after Philips for Yonks, so its Liverpool here we come They will deffo be in Europe, Will he missed Jurys out for me after this window

The Morning After The Night Before!!

Well, where to start! Such a lot to unpack here.

Firstly, the game. Was absolutely shocking, how bad were we? Moyes got it 100% wrong from the start. Zouma, well, I'm not going to give the clown column space. Phillips had an assured game and should not have come off.

The change should have happened at half time. Soucek should have been given the hook. Cornet should have come on. Seeing as how he had scored in the last game and the system that was tweaked could have remained the same with genuine balance.

Luckily JWP was there when we needed him again. But surely with a rejuvenated Rashford Man U could tear us a new one on Sunday? Thank God for a point in the end.

Now then. The transfer window. We couldn't even get that right. We now have 2 seriously dischuffed players on our books. Benrahma, God knows how me managed to get that one fvcked up. Fornals, I thought he was going to wave goodbye at the end. Otherwise why was he there? Wasn't on the bench. You couldn't make it up.

I think they were vetoed, because we could not get anyone in. Complete Fred Carnos Circus. Cowboy Outfit call it what you want. Sullivan is a klint and that passes all the way down to Moyes. I'm seriously unhappy!!!
