spending big and quality coming in

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 05/01/2017 - 06:36

i posted about spending on quality before. i wasn't implying we necessarily had to spend huge amounts although i do think its time we started to do so if required with the guaranteed new income of the new stadium etc. however defoe and johnson are being mentioned. to me, these two would be good signings. both are proven premier league players, both will not need anytime to settle either into the football or the country. defoe will slot in upfront and would be great to see feeding off the service from payet and lanzini. johnson is a no brainer, no nonsense solid right back who provides good attacking service too. we also linked with hogan. tbh i personally know nothing about him or how brentford are playing. however i do like the sound of a lower league english striker as opposed to someone from overseas. i think dembele is a non starter. if I'm not mistaken he's only recently signed at celtic and is in their first team? i simply don't think the owners would offer nearly enough. so in my view if you tell me that we will sign three players: defoe, johnson and hogan id be well pleased with those who i think would add to the first team and hogan being the wild card.

sell payet

would it be such a disaster? on this seasons performances I would have to say know...clearly he is not enjoying his football whether that's down to our league position or whispers of glory and riches elsewhere I cannot say but I am getting frustrated at his below par performances (not the only player I know that)and players being subbed when clearly he should be...yes he was subbed on Monday but IMO that only happened because he was on a yellow card and was clearly getting more agitated as to what had gone on in the match and with that ref a second yellow highly likely....so would it be a disaster if we sold him for £30million+?...Lanzini always seems to have to make way for payet but again IMO he has more to his game and given the chance could develop further...take away payets free kicks has he really contributed much this season so far?

well I guess it was only a matter of time before one of the leagues powerhouses cast there gaze in the direction of Antonio and any rumour has to be snuffed out immediately...£30/40 million know thanks would rather keep the player who is probably the key member of our squad...no swap deals either....but hey what do I know I am only a fan after all and our thoughts don't matter when it comes down to cold hard cash.....

the managerial messiah

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 03/01/2017 - 07:39

so we all were told to get down on our knees and welcome the messiah of footballing management Mr Pep Gourdiola. the question I'm asking now is is he really what he's been billed up to be? granted he's good but i do feel he's been vastly overrated and its gone to his head. lets look at his c.v. he's won buckets of stuff…but at two clubs that allardyce would win buckets with. yes barcelona played such wonderful tippy tappy stuff…but is that it? is pep a man who could take over at hull city and get them playing and winning? for me the jury is now out on him. he came with a big reputation and no doubt earns multi millions a day. but man city on the field look no better than under the rubbish and weak pelligrini. he tries his 'system' of passing it around from the goalkeeper, the defence etc but this causes him more problems than it solves. he sacks hart and brings in a 'footballing goalkeeper'…in all seriousness who needs a footballing goalkeeper? for me its all gimmicks and silly tricks…a lot of hot air and needless fluff when in fact he is overlooking the basics of motivating the players, tightening the team defensively and using the 'better' players to outplay the opposition. his press conferences are bordering on disgraceful. are they supposed to be a joke? if Bilic came out and started the petulant little girl talk id be embarrassed that this was the face of our club. whats this all about? he's a grown man, highly paid pro is what we were told…yet his cry baby antics with the press is disgraceful imo. the man was asking him direct footballing questions and pep went completely defensive like how dare he be asked questions about his genius…well i had a lot of time for him before he arrived but not anymore…i hope he fails. he can take his 'we won't tackle' to wenger and the two of them can have a love fest of failure.

WE NEED TO SPEND ON QUALITY

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 03/01/2017 - 07:24

we were cheated yesterday, there is no doubt. the game was over after 15 mins when man u then had the freedom of the pitch to tire us out. however when i saw the lineup v man u it struck me that actually we had little chance to be honest. man u are not great, mourinho overrates the side in the press after every match. going on and on about how great they are but soooo unlucky. truth is pogba isn't that good, ibrahimovic is old and rooney is dead to football. but when we lined up with antonio up front i just thought …we're finished. as a prem league side who is supposed to be established and with the move to a new massive stadium that promised us riches i find it embarrassing that we have to start a big match against Man U at home with a winger as our main striker. no disrespect to antonio at all…he's a darn good player but its clear why our season has fizzled out into a nothingness. our squad is just not good in a lot of areas. how long are we going to go without having some quality striking options? even if sakho was fit….sakho and carroll is still not enough. we have to buy and not zaza's brother…we need some quality that is proven in the english game. forget the youngsters…I'm talking of here and now goalscorers. they will now cost a fortune and will be thin on the ground…and i suppose this will be the noise from the owners again….so and so is in talks…oh its fallen through but don't worry we've got Jesus Gonzalez from south america who is a massive coup….hes on loan blah blah. No no no. If defoe can be prized away from sunderland great although i really doubt it as that will simply sign sunderlands death certificate. its not down to us to find the players…its down to the board and Bilic so they need to go out and get it done. no nonsense on twitter please we've had enough. send zaza back and sign some quality prem league players. cheers.

West Ham United 0 - 2 Mike Dean

West Ham United were well and truly shafted at the London Stadium, not by opponents Manchester United but by that tour de force of refereeing known as Mike Dean! Not only did he incorrectly issue a straight red card to Sofiane Feghouli within the first quarter hour for an innocuous but commited tackle that Phil Jones milked from here to closing time, but he compounded the injustice by allowing Manchester Utd's second goal to stand despite scorer Ibrahimovic being clearly offside. An irate Slaven Bilic: "I was pleased with the performance, we fought hard and gave everything. I told my players that if we did this we will be all right in the table."Ten men against a team like this is very hard - but we had chances."I am disappointed with the result and frustrated by how we lost it, but I am proud of my players."
The ten men of West Ham fought bravely but ultimately failed against the TWELVE men of the visitors, Manchester United manager Mourinho said: "It was hard for us to think well with one more man - and it was very hard for them physically. "I don't feel sorry for West Ham - I didn't watch the decisions. I think if you talk about decisions, we are the champions of bad decisions."
Feghouli's red card will probably be rescinded but it won't change the result! The player would be available for the FA Cup tie this friday against Manchester City if the appeal is successful, this is just as well because Hammers will be without Ayew and Kouyate as they begin their ACON International duties.
This evening's result was a travesty, but West Ham fans leaving the stadium were not moaning about their team's performance which was encouraging, instead they had a trumped up egoist's actions to vent their frustrations towards! Ed
PS: Apologies for no team sheets earlier today, this was due to Ed Junior (after an excessive new year celebration) sleeping through the two alarms that were set in order to remind him to upload the data when it became available.

Just got up to watch the game and what a start for the Hammers, Carroll and Noble on the bench. West Hams team is Randolph, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Nordvielt, Obiang, Kouyate, Lanzini, Payet, Feghouli and Antonio. The team look lively at the start but the ref Mike Dean has made a very controversial decision against Feghouli's tackle on Jones and given a straight red.
By the way Manchester United team is who cares.

No match thread on the main page, Mike Dean just sent off Feghouli for a bad challenge with a straight red card for a 50-50 against Phil Jones... never a sending off he has ruined the game, we looked good in the first 15 mins too

Well the merry go round is about to start

Will we be mentioned with 20 or more players this window, it seems like we want two sets of players with the amount we get linked with but I would settle for a decent striker, a decent right back and a good midfielder. Feel free to put any players we get mentioned with on here and we will see how we go starting from today.
