Relegation the only thing that saves us

Submitted by Betty Swollox on Wed, 22/01/2020 - 21:53

The only thing we can pray for is to go down. This constant insistence from out if touch pundits and commentators that relegation is bad and doom and gloom is nonsense. The perpetual clinging on by our fingertips is more doom and gloom in my book. The vast majority of West Ham seasons in the Prem that I can remember: Mid table bottom half finish, shit cup runs, might beat a big club at home but only a maximum of two, lose to the worst team in the league at home, maybe two, every 5 or so years a “cheap” maverick comes along and does a few step overs and rabonas. That’s it, that’s what we are, who we were and who we’ll always be. Embrace it fellow hammers. Average managers, owners and players. We couldn’t be any more mediocre than we are now under Moyes with the bird we have and the playing staff. So I do let’s forget about clinging on, only to cling on next year and the year after. Let’s take our medicine go down, cut the fat out of the team. We all know who they are. Use Noble, Snodgrass, Antonio to bring on some of our youth and go back to winning games. Playing some football. Let the fans have a season of joy. You never know a lot that have had enough might come back. Watch a bit of football, win most games and come back refreshed. The fans will be refreshed. You never know the owners might sell up and hand it on to someone else. Give a Gerard a chance to manage us in the Champs. Otherwise unfortunately all we are is the same as we were at UP but in a stadium we all hate.

I cant see us coming back for a long time.out of the premier league - then the tourists wont bother going anymore!! we will be half full with the dildos getting in the neck all the time unless hopefully they sell up.the chumps gets harder every season to get out of it.plus side it will be easier to get away tickets .

I agree but it’s never gonna happen. We’re stuck in a rut of mediocrity and then appointment of dinosaurs to get us out of trouble. Allardyce, Pulis, Moyes, Warnock they’re all the same beast. Remember Allardyce came as a result of relegation. Unless this board go, nothing will ever change. I wouldn’t mind a season of some winning football. Watch a few young players come though. This monotony of the premiership is so boring now. Unless you’re supporting a top 4 side it’s no fun for anyone else.

Betty, you're making it sound as if we'd be a shoe in for promotion with a radically changed squad and mindset. Remember we've been relegated before, had a mass clean out then bought a load of shit, struggled via play offs to get promoted and then given that same shit, new contracts on more money, and then tried the fancy Dan approach with buying foreigners. Your original post was more accurate in that we are a mediocre team, always have been with a sprinkle of fairy dust every now and then brightening the day. Until the evil trio at the top fuck off, that's our lot in life. I'll grant you it ain't what we want but I'd rather finish 17th every season than get relegated and have to face the shit that exists down there, playing more games, earlier cup exits and praying for a return to the big time

I think relegation gets rid of the owners. We need owners willing to invest in the infrastructure of the club. The training ground is like Sunday league, who wants to train there ?whilst they’re there I agree with how relegation looks. If they go it could oh so different. It’s sad you’d take 17th in the prem, because you get f all in return. Just more of the same next year.

Relegation could be the end of us though. Parachute payments would help but let's face it G&S would make sure they got their money back first if that was to happen, the then fire sale of players at significant loss would be a further hit, plus the reduction in revenue. We would literally have to rebuild and let's face it, every time we try that we somehow fuck it up. G&S know, or should unless they're totally retarded, that the fans have had a gutful of their bullshit and they will leave I believe within 3 years. New owners are the shot in the arm we need, not relegation again. It pains me to prefer 17th to relegation but let's be honest we're no nearer the top 6 than we were 10years ago. G&S have seen to that, can't even get a stadium sponsor FFS. How crap do you have to be for that to be the case? They "saved" us once before and they will do again by leaving, but that's only gonna happen with a Premier League team.

Problem is we cant attract decent young talent, only bargain basement has beens that might just keep us up dragging out the pain,if we do go for younger players, with no premier experience and build from there, which would be good, then we will go down,Sugo dont want that, they want Premier league at any cost, which in turn drags out years of pain and dross.

Yes i agree, buy decent young players, and build a team, and as you also say the backbone for years to come, but the answer is in the years to come, it will take time, and we will probably go down before we get better, but the higher echelons dont want that to happen. It is sound sense to get younger players, but success wont happen over night, and as i state if these youngsters are any good the chances are these so called bigger boys will get them first,as they seem to always do.

Payet rumours typify this Essex. Has been. It’s a token gesture. Keep the fans off my back for a few weeks. Nonsense

Dropping out the Prem will be catastrophic for West Ham. Whats more why should we even accept relegation? 18th most richest club in the world should be in its national top league. The problem is squarely on the shoulders of the shambles called owners who run the club like a circus!

I’m being realistic. The delusion that somehow these owners are going to change is what has let them control us into this necessity of staying in the prem for so long. Catastrophe, Armageddon, Disaster is all I hear. Well I already feel
Like Armageddon, Disaster, Catastrophe week in week out. So for the owners 17th year in year out is fine. Lovely jubbly all that Sky money rolling in. No cup run just dross for us fans. Your acceptance of this monotony is how these two divs get awa with it. Can’t wait to see 15000 in that shit stadium next year. Let’s see how long they stick around.

You’re mate. Particularly when the bailed the club out. But this move and the shit they fed us is too much. I know so many STH that don’t go. The same people who made up the 28000 STH when we were in the Champs last time. Moyes has no jurisdiction over transfers. He has said he had more control at Manu to an ex player I know. All I know is that if we stay up it’s another season like this till the owners go. We don’t know what will happen if we go down. But we do know what will happen if we stay up

Mate I sure as hell dont accept it! I drag my sorry arse to the Bowl of Misery to all home games bar yesterday, on biz in Ireland, and ive had a belly full of these clowns, as I said.. a circus! Now the circus is looking at more ageing overpaid mercenaries in the window for more panic buys to fit in with the rest of the Carlos Kickabouts that show less effort than I do to get to Stratford!

Whatever way you look at this, relegation,or just keeping in the premier league, something has got to be done.I understand the the two Davids owning the club, but its not on,them thinking just keep in the premier league,to make us richer. What about the fans that pay good money, especially the loyal season ticket holders year in year out that turn up and want to see success of some shape, thats showing no concern for us,and seriously taking the piss.

The thing is Dicksy,we moved grounds in the name of progression and thats what we were told would happen, and we havent,in comparison of the grounds revenue etc we are a damn site worse off.Im sure i read when we moved that at the point of a four year period, and beyond we would be a top 6 club,it certainly dosent apply to this league.Yes they have changed managers, but that has made no difference, and still struggling in the transfer market, just not appealing at all,to any so called top player,so where does the problem lie,it has to be the hierarchy, and the spin doctor lady Brady, that spun it all to us to leave the Boleyn.
