i was reading on the official website about Bilic and his lineups. apparently he favours a back 4 with 2 holding mids 3 other mids and one up front. basically a form of 4-5-1 (yes burkie one up front). he used Ba as his lone striker. it will be interesting if he plans to implement the same or alter it depending on personel available. he likes his full backs to get forward too so Cresswell should suit him nicely. perhaps Kouyate and Obiang are the holding mids? Sakho up front or carroll if fit? does carroll fit in his plans? i wonder...
It won't be Allardyce's 4-5-1
He likes those two holding mids to be energetic, versatile, and fast-paced so that the fullbacks can get forward, as you say. That suits Cresswell and Jenkinson (if we sign him). The "3" will all be players with goals in them. I don't see Andy Carroll fitting very well into Super Slav's plans. There may be some long balls played to the wingers as outlets, but what you won't see is the hoof up to the lone centre forward who tries to knock it down for a chance goal by a poacher like Nolan. Bilic will require more creativity than that!

Carroll now linked with a move back to the Toon under McWally....................
there's a difference between
there's a difference between descent center forwards and carthorses , For me if you are going to play that system then there is no better than Carroll , he possess the skill necessary , he can make short work of the best defenders and score wonderful goals with the head or his feet , when he's under pressure he can knock it down , but its no good knocking it down to no one in particular you need a player who 's in tune with him , i know ive gone on and on about Cole over the years but i really do think he may have been the cause of our woe's , what manger after manger saw in him is beyond me , lets be honest in Carroll's first season he and Nolan were a formidable partnership then Nolan's legs went and he lost his mojo, i cant wait to see if Slav will include him from the start , if he comes out on the first day (never mind wearing the arm band ) then the manager will have me to answer to. lol
I don't think Carroll will be
I don't think Carroll will be the answer if I'm honest, he's good at knocking balls down or timing his jumps to get on the end of crosses but his technical ability on the floor is poor and he's not very mobile, I would hope for someone who had a turn of pace and looked to get in behind more than a statue of a target man, that's when he manages to be fit for a game of course!
Agreed I'd get rid and cash
Agreed I'd get rid and cash in whilst he still has some stock value. He can't make a full season and you therefore can't build a team around him
Completely agree that we can
Completely agree that we can't build a team around him, Sam should've realised that last year. Sully would probably get rid if he could not lose TOO much on him, but with his injury record I can't see us getting much for him. I think he'd have to prove his fitness (to some degree) and then go in the New Year window (giving us a bit of cash to bring a fresh face or 2 in then -- something the owners were heavily criticised for not doing last season). BUT he can terrorise defences when fit, and using him a super-sub battering ram has attractions. The trouble is his big salary: can we justify such a large wage for a guy who would have to be a bit part player?
Love him to bits but he's got
Love him to bits but he's got his own hospital parking space
I think Newcastle would
Watford ?
That's the trouble, we can't
That's the trouble, we can't even rely on Stoke anymore, West Brom maybe?
Rumours that it might be
Rumours that it might be Newcastle, 10-15 million pounds apparently, I'd be happy with that return on him
The one thing you can count on
as sure as you're born, if Newcastle sign him, he will score a hat trick against us.
Spot on ashes, and he'll
Spot on ashes, and he'll complete a full season without any injuries, that's the West Ham way
Big differences to Allardyce's 4-5-1
Bilic likes one holding and two attacking midfielders (with goals in them) plus the full backs to get forward. It is entirely different to Allardyc'e's version of hoof ball. His 4-5-1 does actually go to all out attack with support for the one up front and if you do see a longball it is tactical not hoofed up in hope. Cant see Collins, Noble or Nolan getting anywhere near the first team. I like Collins but at 32 Bilic is rumoured to want another central defender who thinks about who he is clearing the ball to!
Really looking forward to seeing how the team shapes up in the next couple of months :-)
Yeah, much as I like Ginge,
Yeah, much as I like Ginge, and he is the man I'd want in a backs to the wall defence, his creative skills are approximately zero. How many times does he pick up the ball, look towards the enemy box, and launch the 'hail Mary' pass?
Bilic knows what he is doing
My only worries is I am not sure about how he will be with players because the real nasties can actually be the ego trips the players have.
