There’s only one man for the job...

....I never ever thought I’d say this but it’s time for Di Canio. The team has become too big for the manager. There are players there that simply don’t care, are on too much money and slowly winding down. The crowd has lost heart. I like many many stalwart supporters I know, find excuses not to go to games. If we’re all honest, the ground is shit. A ball ache to get in and out of, overpriced and a long way from a football stadium. The crowd aren’t behind Bilic because they know he’s gone either Saturday, the week after or at the end of the season. The players play like they feel the same too. Only PDC would have the fans rocking again. Only he could unite the ground and show the players what playing for us supporters is about. Only he would make them fit, cut out the drinking and bingeing that goes on with so called senior players. On,y he would have the balls to get rid of a so called senior player for a youth player, deserving of a chance. Let’s be honest if we stay as we are, the board will alienate many paying fans and likely get us relegated. Yes PDC can be crazy and is a big risk, but week by week we have less to lose. Get Rio to come in for the defensive side and give it a go. I know I’d be more interested. I know I’d have a bit mor motivation to be there.

Is the end nigh for super Slav, cometh the International break, cometh the sack? From the 5th to the 18th Nov 13 days for someone to come in, get some time with the squad? I fear a thumping from the bin dippers will put the final nail in Slavs coffin and Fireworks will start. Personally I hope we give them a right East End thumping and Super Slav will get the boost he needs!!!

I think Slav could go on Saturday

G&S gave him 2 matches but I'm wondering if they meant 2 premier matches still I don't think this will matter we wont win on Sat and if we get battered on Sat night I can see Slav going on Monday. Funny thing 2 weeks ago we had a full squad but with Collins Fonte Byram Reed and Zabaleta suspended it don't look too good for us or Billick. It would be the perfect time for this with the International break coming up it would give a new manager to coach his players

yeah i new that would get the blood pressure rising in a fair few of you...now i am not asking for his return as a permanent thing but as the caretaker role which seems the route we will have to go down as the club don't want to be paying out compensation for managers they clearly like....now i do not want H anywhere near the money side of things just as team manager...he clearly knows how to get players playing(i dont count brum i mean they are worse than us)and get the best out of a clearly underachieving team..bring in Rio as a defensive coach he has offered and clearly its needed...rmbr the season H saved the spuds from certain relegation they were playing like we are now and like all hammers fans we were loving it until they sacked the manager and installed H you new they would be safe and sure enough he did it...we have some very good players we just need a manager who can do something with them....controversial devisive maybe but if as has been muted they are looking at bfs again i would take Twitch in the short term....ok going to get some ice ready for the bruises coming my way!

Declan Rice - The Rising Star

Submitted by alex norwood on Wed, 01/11/2017 - 17:02

Football is one sports exercise that has successfully achieved a very firm grip on our lives. Present day society cannot complete its narrative without explaining the effects of sports and the most popular sports in the world at present is football. This sport has given the world a lot in entertainment, and has made a lot of financial inroads into people’s lives and in building great business empires.

One other good thing about football is that it keeps creating and throwing heroes at people who love and follow it. These heroes are people who achieve exceptional feats in the field of football based hugely on their God given talents or through the results of sheer hard work.

One of the potential heroes of the football world is the kid named Declan Rice. Many people have not heard his name before and actually did not know his history until his performance at the Wembley Stadium. West Ham did yet another big one against their perennial city rivals, and he contributed hugely. The Hammers have never won the Carabao Cup, since it was established. Since their resurgence as a strong mid-table team in England, they have been struggling to achieve such feat. However, the morale booster came when they defeated their city rivals that have spent more money than them over the past years to progress to the next round of the cup competition. More significant about this victory over their age long foes is the fact that they were 2-0 before halftime, only to produce three amazing goals during the second half to win Spurs on their home ground.

One man stood out in the game, not because he got the goals that sealed their victory. He stood out because he is one of the youngest lads in the team and he held down his defensive position without any errors all through the game.
After the game, the 18 year old Declan, who was given the rare opportunity to play at one of the most prestigious stadiums in the entire world, commended the experience. He told the official website of the club of how amazing it feels to come to the Wembley Stadium and beat Tottenham. This is his first game as a football player here, though he has previously visited the stadium on many occasions as a fan. He spoke of how majority of the fans believed that they were down and out after the first half of the game, and how their half time meeting helped to prop them into action. They actually showed what they are made of after that. He could not hide his excitement at the outcome of the game. So, he posited that he had never been in such a situation before and that he sees the night as the best night of his life so far.

Rice was born in London on the 14th of January, 1999, but his parents are of Irish roots from the city of Cork. He started his footballing career with the Chelsea youth team, but later moved to West Ham where he has been the captain of the under 23 squad. However, in April 2017, he was called up to the man team in games against Sunderland and Everton. But his senior debut was in the game against Burnley on the last day of 2016–17 Premier League season. He was also called up by the republic of Ireland on the 23rd of May 2017 for their games against Mexico, Uruguay and Austria, though he did not play in any of those.
However, it should be noted that his heroics started when the West Ham under 23 Captain was handed a substitute position in the center of midfield alongside the more experienced Pedro Obiang in a match against Manchester united. When he came in to replace the current captain of West Ham, it did not take up to 10 minutes before his brilliance shined bright. The 18 year old has an amazing positional sense that will take him places in football. He also has a knack for
organizing the people around him, and this is very imperative for central midfielders like him.

It did not take up to 30 minutes in the pitch before the kid completed 22 out of the 23 passes he made. That was his second appearance in the English premier league and he ended it with a rating of 95.7% in terms of passes completed. Of course, the chief attribute of any good central midfielder involves passes, because the midfield is the area from where the game is normally built. It was after this game that many people started taking interest in the lad. You cannot possibly put up the level of composed performance he did at the Old Trafford at his age and not be a huge star in the making. When you to play in a midfield against huge names like Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba as opposing numbers, and make 28 amazing touches within a short duration of time, you are good. There is another thing that makes people fall in love with this young star. While he is waxing strong with those skills that Pogba and Konte are known for up front, he combines it with the defensive prowess of Mikel Obi. He was always seen in the game going back to cover for Arthur Masuaku and Pablo Zabaleta whenever they move out or overlap.

He is also not the Fabregas type of fearful play, as he always asserts his presence and is never afraid of going in for those tackles. You should get a view of his challenge of Eric Bailly, his stoppage of Marcus Rashford at the penalty area after a clearance and his interception of Pogba’s pass. They are all testament to his diverse skills and versatility.

The teenager will only turn 19 in January next year, but he is doing great things already. He is bringing those attributes that position people for a great career in the game to the table. They include the right attitude and character, the right stature and physique and the right skills and intelligence. However, he has to add humility and hard work to these, and he will get to a place where the football world will chant his name. He is already the Irish under 17 player of the year and many top clubs are monitoring his progress for a potential deal, what are the odds on him being snapped up by a 'bigger' club?

Crisis, What Crisis? No Zabaleta, No Reid, No Hope?

The last time West Ham United faced this Saturday's visitors Liverpool was on the final home game of last season, the drubbing left a very poor taste in the mouth! Fresh on the heels of nearly snatching defeat from victory at Palace, Slaven Billic's team is going to have to be completely re-jigged at the back with the news that Jose Font has joined James Collins and Winston Reid on the injury list, ally that to Pablo Zabaleta's suspension for having reached his yellow card limit and things look pretty bleak!

Aaron Cresswell had to go off at half time during the match at Selhurst Park so even he is doubtful for the Liverpool clash, Authur Masuaku is a fine replacement but does lack the defensive qualities of Cresswell. Sam Byram is a shoe in for Zabaleta and deserves his chance, hopefully some of the 'old master's' magic will have worn off on to him, match day cover for both Masuaku and Byram could be provided by Nathan Holland and Declan Rice, Rice can also cover for Font or Reid as he is a natural centre back. With Edimilson Fernandez looking strong in midfield the 'Academy' finally seems to be producing players that are up to scratch, the under -23's are doing particularly well which beggars the question of "when will Tony Martinez get his chance?" This lad bangs goals in for fun and he is most definitely NOT another Freddie Sears!

Mark Noble lacks pace and in certain circumstances vision, but he kind of makes up for those shortcomings with his endevour and passion which cannot be doubted. For the Liverpool match Noble might be first choice in midfield, but there are others who are much more mobile, a quality that might well be needed against a very mobile Liverpool team whose only weakness is in defence. Slaven Billic should be able to call upon all of his strikers for the match, it will be interesting to see if he will be prepared to take the plunge with Martinez, but previous experience shows that for some reason Billic lacks faith in his youth players and only uses them when he is forced to due to injuries, perhaps he sees the Liverpool match as a game too far for youngsters!

West Ham fans can take a defeat if their team has given their all, what cannot be tolerated is a lack of energy, displays like the one against Brighton turn the London Stadium in to the Toxic Drome Stadium very swiftly, Saturday's impending game is not a season changer, but a good result would turn the atmosphere around very quickly for Billic and his squad of players who would not be human if they were not affected by their fans negativity. Booing your own players if they make a back pass is a human emotion, but it doesn't help the players and hinders the overall result! - Ed

Slaven Bilic

Slaven Bilic says his team’s performances against Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace last week show how strong the Hammers’ spirit is – even if a late blow at Selhurst Park meant two points slipped through their grasp.

The Hammers looked set for a second away win in four days as goals from Chicharito and Andre Ayew put them 2-0 up at Crystal Palace, but a second half fightback – with Wilfried Zaha’s leveller coming from the final kick of the game – left a sour taste in the visitors’ mouths.

However, with a home match against Liverpool to focus on now, Bilic is keen to dwell on the positive aspects of the team’s response to that defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out in E20.

The manager said: "Joe Hart was excellent, he was great on Saturday, so we had a great goalkeeper, we had a 2-0 lead with the two strikers scoring very beautiful goals.

The team is giving its best, it has showed a lot of energy, spirit and togetherness

Slaven
