Better

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sat, 01/10/2016 - 18:54

we were better. we remembered how to defend it seemed, although there were some big scares. we looked a lot more solid with obiang adding some discipline in the midfield. the elephant on the pitch however was our glaring lack of firepower up front. it was bold for bilic to play antonio up there and credit to him for making the change but in all honesty it didnt work. i keep harping on about the signings we made but I'm convinced we made a massive error. i look at palace and i see a team transformed with three signings. if we had signed townsend and benteke i really think we would be looking good right now. instead we have tore and zaza both who look totally unfit for the prem league. they make no impact whatsoever. hindsight is great i agree but i just don't know why we didnt bring a couple of proven prem leaguers in instead of gambling. i even think if we had bought Remy we'd have a lot more punch up front. its a bit of a poor show moving into a big new stadium but not having a striker befitting of the arena. we were promised a 'top' striker but to be frank zaza is not it. i don't know how much longer we can persevere with him as its clearly making our plight worse. we better get sakho back soon.

So Will Slaven Ring The Changes And What Are His Options?

metbobby1's picture
Submitted by metbobby1 on Fri, 30/09/2016 - 19:10

Saying it like it is, Slaven Billic has been forthright in his appraisal of how things have panned out for West Ham thus far this season, although he did raise the 'new stadium move' factor he was also quick to point out that it was not the only reason for his team's dreadful start. The team much publicised, in the wrong way, bonding 'drink up' may yet prove to have been an inspired decision, but it may also provide further ammunition for his critics should things go wrong against Middlesborough on Saturday, of course in the past team drink up sessions were de riguer, particularly during the Tony Adams era at Arsenal!
Having been shorn of left backs and defenders at an alarming rate, the Hammers manager faces a selection headache for the impending crucial match against the Midlanders and will be forced to play several of his squad out of position. The attacking flair of Michail Antonio could be under threat if he has to fill in at right back, however as he is the club's top scorer that is unlikely, Arbeloa has performed relatively well at left back so maybe Sam Byram might start. Even more pressing than the defence is the mid field formation that the manager chooses, in the last few games the midfield has been bullied and over run by the opposition, perhaps a return to the hit them on the break approach that served so well last season, pack the middle have Feghouli on one wing and Lanzini on the other with Payet playing a more central role behind whichever striker is selected. It's not rocket science and Slaven Billic intimated changes were afoot, playing with less possession at home might upset the crowd but so does losing, so a bit of discontent would be a small price to pay if there was a positive result by the end of the match.
Stewart Downing will feature for the visitors and will no doubt seek to prove that he was and still is a class player, and to that end it would be churlish for fans to boo him rather than politely applaud him, especially as booing might inspire him to score against his former team.
Whatever the result tomorrow, Acca Tips has the odds as even, there follows a two week gap before the difficult tie away to Palace, time in order for the 'ship to be stabilised', which should see Aaron Cresswell, Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew return to the first team squad, they are all scheduled to be ready or there abouts. They cannot arrive soon enough! - Ed

Old Faces Returning

Some of you may have noticed a few of the old original Orgers who had disappeared now revisiting the site, this is due to the fact that we have finally (after 18 Months) been able to properly 'unlock' their memberships. The reason it has taken so long is because when we re-launched the site it was instantly attacked by DDoS hackers (they know who they are, and more importantly we know who they are now!) Consequently people never properly received their invites to the site, furthermore those that did found it hard to re-log in. Well, those problems are a thing of the past now and we look forward to some additional witty banter from the returnees! Welcome back Orgers - Ed

Reasons To Be Cheerful As Cresswell Sakho & Ayew Near Returns

Submitted by nevillenixon on Thu, 29/09/2016 - 11:26

Having endured endless negative press and been the cause of massive schadenfreude for opposition fans around the country, West Ham fans may finally have some 'reasons to be cheerful'. Hammers head of medical and sports science Stijn Vandenbroucke confirmed the positive news about the progress of Aaron Cresswell, Andre Ayew, and Diafra Sakho's return from long term injury.
He told www.whufc.com "First, Aaron trained very well with the Under-23s on Wednesday. The Academy kindly put on a very hard session, which Aaron took part in under the supervision of Eamon Swift, our rehab-fitness coach. He will take part in another training session with the Under-23s on Friday and join the first team next week. Andre returned to France as planned to continue his rehab. He will return to Rush Green at the weekend. He has been working very hard on the pitch and is ready for the next stage in the rehab, introducing the ball, passing, kicking and faster running. Andre will continue working on improving his fitness levels for the next few weeks before he will join controlled introduction sessions with the Under-23s. Diafra is progressing well after a week on the training pitch running and working with the ball. He has to build up a lot of fitness after three months out, but the encouraging thing is that he has had no adverse reaction in his back to the hard work he has been putting in. Diafra is working very hard and there is light at the end of the tunnel".
Good news indeed, the prospect of the Sakman getting on the end of crosses accurately pinged in by Aaron Cresswell will definitely be a sight to behold for fans who have experienced recent games, because despite having thrown his toys out the pram, Diafra Sakho is capable of kick starting West Ham's stilted forward line, his energy and running off the ball makes him almost impossible to defend against. It appears that Slaven Bilic, who at one time was favourite with monsterbet to be the first Premier League manager to get the chop, and Sakho have 'kissed and made up'. They may not be best the best of buddies now but that is irrelevant, the team has sorely missed Sakho and we cannot wait to see him back in the claret & blue, of WEST HAM!
Cresswell, Sakho and Ayew could represent 30% of the outfield when they have returned from injury, they would be a big miss for any Barclay's Premier League club. And don't forget, the 'Big Man' will be back for a few matches (before picking up another injury) soon.
There are some reasons to be cheerful. - Ed

Hammer Bashers! Randolph And Carroll Pished?

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 27/09/2016 - 15:40

Apparently it is now open season for 'Hammer bashing' by all and sundry including West Ham fans, with the opportunities for getting a 'dig in' currently very plentiful it is hard to fathom out why two high profile West Ham United players apparently chose to go out on the razz, ending up in a couple of boozers "gurning and off their nuts" (gurning is not usually attributed to alcohol consumption, it is usually associated with other unhealthy activities). The inference is obvious from the 'twatterers' accounts that such alleged behaviour is not condonable in any way, and rightly so, however it would be far too easy to condemn Andy Carroll and Darren Randloph before investigating the matter further and before the players themselves have had a chance to explain their actions.
Keen eyed viewers will have noticed the lack of glasses or bottles in front of the pair, and whilst the players look as if they are sharing a joke or perhaps they were wary of someone taking their picture, they don't look particularly 'off their heads'. At the moment the alleged behaviour is purely a matter of conjecture, the wisdom of going out in public while the team that pays their wages flounders is questionable, although there will be some that say "in the old days when a club was in trouble the players would go for a right good piss up and sort things out" The only problem with that line of thought is that Randolph is currently warming the bench as N0 2 to Adrian San Miguel and that Carroll ahem, is currently working his way back to fitness! Resignation

Submitted by Betty Swollox on Tue, 27/09/2016 - 11:12
A few things in one thread, apologies but don't have as much time these days.
Firstly just a point about the "New Stadium", for me this has now become a red herring for our crap performances, A nice easy fall back. We didn't take the "New Stadium" to West Brom did we? We still managed to get tonked by a crap Pulis side. We played the same there a couple of seasons ago under the corrupt one and had 4 put past us then. It's not the pitch, everyone else is scoring goals there even crap Romanian teams. I heard on the radio after travelling back on Sunday, some geezer called Jethro from Torquay, and a Liverpool fan! Criticising us that we got too big for our boots and the atmosphere at the OS is rubbish. When asked had he been there he replied no. End of discussion. So if you are going to harp on about the OS and blame it, at least get off your arse go there and then tell us what you heard, experienced etc.. It's not the stadium, it's not the fans standing or sitting, it's the players. You know the ones that kick the f'ing ball!!! We've been made to feel by outside forces and I have to say a lot of the armchairs on here, that we are somehow part of the problem. Like we aren't doing our job properly, by not creating the right atmosphere. Let alone the fact we have to pay ,make the journey to and fro and watch our team get demolished by mediocre opposition, we have to keep singing our hearts out? Oh and we can't leave early, coz proper fans don't do that. We have to stay till the end, for what? I've left early nearly every game this season, which I've never done in 35 years of supporting home and away. The reason? The team leaves the game after about 30 mins so why shouldn't I go home early too? I've got to get home with my son, on public transport, they jump in their flash motors parked in the ground and are home in about 20 mins.,
Secondly, the solution, the worst thing and most worrying is I don't think anyone knows what that is. Oxford apparently is this super defender sitting on the bench, top teams allegedly want him. Says who? His agent?. Well I saw him taken apart at UP last season and against Donzale, he made a few mistakes that would have been punished in the Prem. Byram has been found out against canny attackers like Ighalo. Obiang is just another average midfielder IMPO. Fletcher is seen as a hope because he adds a spark, but can he mentally handle the pressure of our struggle at the moment from the start? I suppose we will only know if he plays. I just don't see the players on the bench making a difference. I also see players on the pitch that aren't up for it. Payet, Kouyate and Reid especially. Whether they've got complacent, wanted a move away, I don't know. They look disinterested. Its' so bad that I'm getting embarrassed at the "we've got Payet" song. Last season feels like a long time ago now. Worse still I'm counting the days the great white hope Carroll comes back for about four or five games and gets injured again, or the wrong-un Sakho plays. I'm totally pinning my hope on the belief that they will change things, and I'm probably wrong. I'm dreading going on Saturday, another half a day of mine and my son's life wasted on those w*nkers. Not since the corrupt one have I dreaded going to West Ham so much.
Lastly if we got rid of Bilic as some have said already on here, what's going to change? Look at Chelsea they've still got the same problems under Conte as they had under Mourinho. Both managers we'd have given our right arm for BTW. Bilic can be criticised for picking round pegs in square hoes, but he works with these players every day and must know their mental state better than we do. If he thinks Kouyate isn't a centre back but a central midfielder and we accept that, then surely, we accept his obvious judgement that Oxford isn't up to it or ready? If they don't want to play for the club and it's fans, get rid I say. I'd rather go down and start agin than be embarrassed week in week out. Our claret and blue colours aren not the only similarity with Villa from last season. We would get rid of the tourists and build again. So I'm resigned to defeat already, so early and am looking at the next three games as make or break.

Bruce Being Lined Up As Billic Successor?

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 27/09/2016 - 10:47

West Ham United co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan are renowned for the loyalty they show to their managers, some would say too loyal, and so it comes as no surprise that they have released a 'statement' to disaffected fans with regards to the club's current dire situation NOT blaming Slaven Billic, the communique went on to highlight injuries and poor decisions as a reason for the disastrous start to the season which has seen a return of only three points from six games, relegation form to anyone not viewing the situation with claret & blue spectacles on!
Despite showing commendable loyalty to their manager, an aspect of the modern game that is now becoming extinct given the fiscal demands that are part and parcel of being in the Barclays Premier League, the Hammers hierarchy have subtly been in touch with ex - Hull City manager Steve Bruce who they know well from when he managed Birmingham City whilst the club was under their ownership. Bruce, who resigned from being the manager of Hull due to the lack of investment in the team, had hinted that he was ready to 'hang up his boots' in order to spent more 'quality time' with his family, however the opportunity to manage West Ham United is the sort of option that would "get my juices going" and would reunite him with some 'old faces', sometimes it is better the devil you know than the devil you don't!
In the short term nothing radical is planned, but like all astute business people, those in control at West Ham United have to have a contingency plan in place should the current sequence of poor results continue unabated. The move to the London Stadium was always going to be difficult, but it seems the magnitude of the change had not been fully anticipated, especially the width of the pitch. The extra metreage is what opposing teams are exploiting when they visit, hitting teams on the break is what West Ham perfected last season, so it is rather ironic that the club has now fallen victim to what was once their successful template.
Of course any team devoid of Andy Carroll, Andre Agnew and Diafra Sakho would find scoring goals challenging and the hope is when the trio have returned things will start looking up, add the returning Aaron Cresswell when he has reached fitness and the future could and should be rosy, the only problem is the negative mind set that has crept insidiously throughout the team. Slaven Billic may have to make a few harsh decisions with regards to his team selections in the next few matches, there are certain players who need to be dropped, they know who they are, but does Slaven? Talk of his dismissal is a bit premature, but at the end of the day football is a results driven business, and the current poor run of results are unsustainable, something has to happen and quickly otherwise Slaven Billic will become the first managerial casualty from this season's top flight. - Ed
