Another International Break Out of the Way

moore2come's picture
Submitted by moore2come on Fri, 14/10/2016 - 03:24

Now that the completely pointless International break is out of the way, I can actually look forward to some football again. Of course the way WH are playing atm it's tough to look forward to another 90mins of the same, but that's what we do and it'll never change.
So looking back at my July predictions, I had us down to lose this 2-1. Now considering I tipped us to have 5 wins out of 7 by now ( we have the total opposite), this could be seen as a good omen. Unfortunately the pessimist in me see's no change to that result. Anyone else got a more positive outlook for the game?

Growing Confusion Over Details Of Simone ZaZa Deal

Submitted by nevillenixon on Thu, 13/10/2016 - 12:11

If Simone Zaza had been banging goals in since his arrival at West Ham on loan from Juventus, the move would not have received anywhere near the amount of intense scrutiny it has, and if Hammers weren't hovering dangerously within the relegation zone of the Barclays Premier League his lack of form would not necessarily be a huge topic. However, 'Gabor' has not scored and Hammers are mired in the drop zone, consequently the details of the strikers move are becoming increasingly pertinent because a termination of his loan deal once the January transfer window opens is becoming more and more likely.
As with all things West Ham there is a certain amount of confusion as to the minuni of the detail, does a permanent £20 Million plus deal kick in after 10. 15 or 20 games? Does the club even have an option to cancel the loan? Having paid an initial £4 Million loan fee for the misfiring strikers services, the West Ham United hierarchy might decide to cut their losses and send Zaza back to Juve if they can activate an exit clause, failing that option the club would have to negotiate a special arrangement with his parent club.
It appears that the panic and fervour to land a 'marquee signing' seriously impaired the judgement of those responsible for bringing ZaZa to the club, and it is to be hoped that his exit doesn't have serious financial implications. As it is the acquisition of Zaza has already cost £4 Million in loan fees and by January will have cost over £1 Million in wages!
Most West Ham fans agree it is time to cut and run, but can the club do so without massive financial penalties? The position is unclear, even well placed sources within the club are not entirely sure of all the stipulations that are associated with Zaza's move from Juventus, so how is anyone else supposed to know? - Ed

England team under Southgate

Bondsy's picture

At long last Rooney has been dropped for tonight's game against Slovenia. England may not win it tonight though (probable draw imo)
I have always said England had a bright future with the U21's (they have qualified for the European U21 championships already under Southgate)
Gareth Southgate ensures his teams retain possesion and counter attack which they were unable to do against minnows Malta due in my mind to the reliance on Rooney who slowed the game down far too much and for that reason he has been relegated to the bench and rightly so, he is not good enough..........end of.
Deli Ali is far better and will take players on as do most of the midfield players under Southgate
Is he good enough as England senior manager??? only time will tell over the next three games! For me he fits the bill knowing and working with all the bright young players who are now coming through to the senior squad.

Tore Injury A Blessing In Disguise As Cresswell Eyes Return?

Gokhan Tore's loan move from Besiktas to West Ham has been fraught with difficulties and niggling injuries, so news that the 24 year old has suffered a quadriceps muscle problem and won’t be back for at least next month shouldn't really be that much of a surprise. Hammers are not able to send him back to his parent club in January despite the Turkish International player's poor start to the season, Tore has played five times so far this campaign, but has made no real impact and has exhibited all the traits of a player who is either too confident or too circumspect, classic behaviour associated with a footballer who is completely out of sorts. Tore's recent performances have divided opinion among the Hammers faithful with some willing to give him more time to 'bed in' while others think he is a waste of space! Such considerations are academic now given the player's current injury and recent poor showing, but it may well turn out to be a blessing in disguise for a couple of reasons. Namely the enforced break will open up a place in the team for Sofianne Feghouli who is only just returning from injury himself, but more importantly Aaron Cresswell's impending return means that West Ham fans will finally see a sight that they became used to, that of the diminutive defender bombing down the wing, scaring the hell out of the opposition's defence and either pinging in a great cross or attempting one of the left foot piledriver shots at goal that he is more than capable of delivering. Slaven Bilic's side have won just once so far this season in the Premier League and lie uncomfortably in the relegation zone but have not yet been prominently featured in the 'drop zone' stakes at www.bethut.co.uk , injuries have been a major issue with at least seven first team members unavailable, strikers Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho should be back within the next few weeks along with record £20million signing Ghana star Andre Ayew who is scheduled to return towards the end of the month after nearly requiring thigh surgery but avoiding the actual operation because of the stellar rehabilitation work carried out by the Hammers medical team.
All the above mentioned players returning should provide a fillip for manager, co-owners and fans alike, but it is the impending return of Cresswell that is the most crucial element. Not only has the defence looked shaky without him, but the team has looked bereft of ideas going forward on the left hand side of the pitch without him, the entire balance of the team has looked incorrect since his non availability and has been compared to one of those old christmas cracker toys where you are required to move all the numbers or letters around but only have one spare space with which to manoeuvre, and Cresswell is that 'missing' space. The onus on Cresswell is huge, however if his recent interviews are anything are anything to go by he is relishing the prospect of the extra width provided by the expanses of the London Stadium pitch, electric pace down the flank is his preserve, and an element that has been sorely missed from West Ham United's opening games.
Perhaps on reflection the club concentrated too much on 'marquee' signings during the summer and would have been better off consolidating the position of those who were at the club already and arranging back up just in case! Of course hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it is to be hoped that the dreadful start to the season can become a distant memory and that West Ham can return to being the team that 'top' teams were frightened of playing last season. - Ed

Valencia Moves To End Witch Hunt

Ecuador international Enner Valencia has broken his silence over controversy regarding alleged unpaid child support to protect the "image of my family and myself." The Hammers striker, on loan to Everton, was very publicly accused of failing to pay a significant sum to his former partner, Sinthyia Pinargote Chumo, for the care of their daughter Beira. Valencia was chased by police after he left the pitch on a stretcher during Ecuador's 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Chile last week, although the warrant for his arrest has since been rescinded.
The 26 year old has been moved to issuing a statement via his official Twitter and Instagram accounts in order to offer his side of the story. His message reads: "In relation to the events of the past few days, regarding the alleged breach of my obligations to my daughter Beira Valencia Pinargote, who is 5 years old, as a result of a series of comments without foundation, I feel the need to make the following clarifications, in order not only to clarify the facts, but to honor the image of my family and myself, both personally and professionally. "Coming from a humble and hardworking family, who since childhood have helped me to face all manner of difficult things that have been present throughout my life, managing to achieve the goals I have, raised from helping my father, selling milk in the streets, to my beginning with Club Sport Emelec, to become a professional player, but above all to be a person guided by God, it has allowed me to develop attributes to form a stable and happy marriage with my wife Sharon and my daughters Beira and Amelia. "However, I am currently facing several lawsuits initiated by Sinthyia Pinargote Chumo, which I perceive are aimed exclusively on matters of economic and personal gain, such as the demand for maintenance, presented in 2015, where I set the amount of $30,000 a month as alimony. "Within the last two years, despite spending a sum estimated to be $100,000, for pensions of food, which can be verified on the website of the judiciary, she has prevented me strengthening my relationship with my daughter, because her mother prevents me from exercising any contact on my visits when I am in Ecuador.
"After talking with my family, we have made the decision to file a lawsuit, seeking custody of my daughter Beira, aiming for her to come live and study in England, where I live now, so she can grow in a stable environment, with the necessary conditions for her development. That application was granted in December 2015, the judiciary bestowing me custody of my daughter Beira, and suspending all alimony monthly payments to Mrs. Sinthyia Pinargorte."
Not the best scenario for someone's child, the Press enjoyed themselves over this one! - Ed

Ok since we are having the International break bollarks. I thought we could have something else to get our teeth into so to speak... My claim to fame is as follows also very topical of the moment. Now, not a lot of people know this but. Gareth Southgates Mum used to help teach my daughter for Maths on the thick table. She was a teaching assistant who helped out the ones who just couldn't grasp it so to speak. My daughter is nearly 30 now and doing well. Thankyou Mrs Southgate......

Will Antonio Be Handed His First Start For England?

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Sat, 08/10/2016 - 09:36

In a major newsfeed poll, 77% of viewers believe and hope Gareth Southgate will hand Michail Antonio his first England start, the former Nottingham Forest winger has been challenged to maintain his performances by manager Slaven Bilic after scoring five goals in seven Premier League games. Such has been Antonio's impact during his first season and during this season despite West Ham's woeful start he could earn himself his second new deal in a year, he only signed a new four year contract with the club in July of this year in recognition of his debut season, and it appears the Hammers hierarchy could improve that deal even further if he is able to maintain his consistency this season.
Slaven Bilic revealed last month that he held talks with Antonio following his debut call-up to ensure he keeps his feet on the ground. He said: “We’ve had a few talks. Make no mistake, he was confident before, he's a very confident lad.
“All he has to do now is not to change - not to change the way he plays, the way he trains, everything, and we have to help him with that.”
Antonio’s form saw him break into the England squad after being called up during the short reign of Sam Allardyce, whose successor Gareth Southgate, looks set to continue showing belief in this rising star of the East End. - Ed

Another Payet Wonder Goal

Submitted by nevillenixon on Fri, 07/10/2016 - 22:30

Dimitri Payet continued his run of spectacular goals with a stunning strike that helped France beat Bulgaria 4 - 1 in their World Cup qualifying group game. Payet's 30 yard pile driver helped France to a convincing win which sees them equal top of their group. It could be argued that his attempt was a pass that went wrong, well he earns the right to be so wrong and still score!
At least West Ham United's poor results haven't affected the mercurial frenchman's ability to conjure up a piece of magic, Hammers fans will be hoping he can re-create more of the same against Crystal Palace when the Barclays Premier League resumes. - Ed
