How do you answer a question

Morning boys got a bit of a question for you. A new Lad started in the office this week all of 17 very wet behind the ears annnnnnnway me and some of the others were talking football at tea break and the Lad was asked who he supported well he does not have a team and he would like to but was not sure who he should support or how he would pick a team.
As you can imagine he was being told this team that team he should support and he was lost not wanting to offend anyone by saying no he got a bit flustered so i asked him who his family supports sadly for him they are not into football in the slightest hence his problem not born into a family who support a certain club makes you wonder how would you decide.
I had a think (shut up!) and at Lunch i said to him you really do not pick a football club they pick you and before you make a decision it is not all about winning trophies because if that was the case 95% of clubs would have no fans. Nope i just said you really have to support a club you can actually go and watch play not at the other end of the country and it does not have to be a club in the premier league it can be in any league but most important is the feeling you get when you are there you will know the team for you you will know when it is the right fit and once chosen that is your team for life you cannot change know matter what.
Of course i did tell him that the only clubs he cannot support are Spuds and Millscum otherwise good luck.

So was i right? yes i am aware as a woman i am always right lol but if your family are not into sport and have nobody to influence you in your youth how would you choose?.

Right Burkieeeeeeeee break out the suntan lotion i'm off to the beach

How many low ball bids this summer?and silly stories about huge money bid which will come to nothing because of wages and ffP but we tried lol.

I thankfully will be away for most of it this summer and miss all that shite and thankfully the over hyped club world club nonsense...

As for my predictions as to how many low ball offers we make well all of them of course.

Lamine Yamal......Kvaratskhelia......Marquinhos... three must buys this summer lol but i think we may just miss out and get instead Charlie Kelman...Ryan De Havilland...Jay Stansfield instead.

Despite everyone's differing opinions around the club or in the footballing world, we can all agree that he who shall not be named from above is the root of many problems in this club. Since Steidten's departure and much 'media madness' later, the dust has settled and David Sullivan has since announced that a new technical director will not be happening and our original idea of getting Dan Ashworth is no longer.

All of the transfers for the foreseeable future will result in going through Sully, and it's something we fans as well as Potter will have to succumb to. However, despite the tyrannical approach he is set to achieve, one thing he cannot influence is where we find the targets that Potter selects, where they are sent out and who we identify as a 'concrete target' or not.

It's all well and good for the media to suggest we're going to sign this £20 Million player or that £30 Million player, but we have to accept that our funding will be low this season, a sell-to-buy window should be expected because we experienced a rebuild, only got worse and now we need to get rid of more dead wood than we already had originally.

The Hammers will have to dig deep to get rid of some players and pull off a 'Sofiane Feghouli esc-sale', definitely one for the ages that.

The only deal that is certain to happen is Jean-Clair Todibo, who is set to join West Ham officially due to fulfilling all requirements of his loan with obligation to buy deal, but apart from that, it's all free roam, and the market is our oyster... for cheap players only of course! In more recent windows, it is very rare to see the club attempt to sign players for the £6-12 Million mark, and usually, we dash out £20+ Million on a destined-to-fail signing which ruins our season entirely and it's probably a big reason as to why Sullivan finally set on Potter because he doesn't do his business that way.

It'll be cheap foreign talent that Potter finds which is good...but ultimately, it'll be Sullivan who handles the fees and types of deals we offer. We all know how this story goes already and yet despite his control in the past, we will certainly be seeing it in full force this window.

Time to buckle up for the latest season of 'Select & Scatter'

Repeated Frustration And Elation

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sat, 05/04/2025 - 18:22

Good weather, good lineup, good second half but not a full bucket of points to go home with.

The now usual lineup time of 13:45 announced the dropping of Mavropanos and Evan Ferguson, two players who deservedly had to be dropped after the performance against Wolves but ultimately one way or another it appears we’re bound to make a mistake somewhere.

Alphonse Are’oh’la had an absolute blunder, the ball made it to the byline, played in and initially saved but the ball slipped out of his hands and was the easiest goal Evanilson will have in his career.

The Kraut came on swiftly after the second half started and Fuller was the game-changer. Chances started flying through with the introduction of him and Soler, a quick corner from JWP saw the Kraut equalise and Bowen not too long later matched Kudus’ cross. But as said before, even with the weather shining for West Ham there’s always a cloud.

Evanilson slotted an easy second for the Cherries, no one marking him at the back post and as simple as that it’s 2-2. Both goals of his were checked for offside but VAR deemed them onside.

The midfield is our biggest problem and you can see why, what Jules and Steidten came up with has Graham looking to his bench
and his best option for change is Guido Rodriguez! It’s embarrassing.

The second half was the best half we’ve had in a long while, not as good as GP claims he aspires for but it’s better than a 1-0 loss and a ‘lie-down’ performance which is what we’ve been seeing.

7 games to go and the fight for 13th goes on!

Is it too early for Potter Out?

I'm not impressed.

I've not seen any evidence that we are seeing any improvement on Moyes or Loppy.

He focuses on defence, 5 / 6 across the back and not getting a battering. Just one nil down we are in theory still in the game but statistically with so few shots on target this strategy will never work.

11 games in charge, still his best football was his first against Villa in the cup but that's because some of the players were still in Loppy mode, prepared to venture forward.

I feel a lot of WH fans are upset with the quality of football, selection and decision making on substitutions etc is appalling. That said I also feel that is kind of off side to criticise him, its the elephant in the room, the board have made another hopeless appointment and they, and we, are just HOPING it will come good.

Fact : At Brighton he had a 12 month period of just 5 home wins and the board are worried about season ticket sales. Looking at home performances who would wonder?

just to be clear, hes a nice guy and I dont blame him, the blame is with the Board recruitment which is franking shocking. For as long as Sullivan is in control we are always going to be left behind the likes of Villa, Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace etc etc

The Evolution of West Ham United's Sponsorship Deals with Online Casinos

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Thu, 03/04/2025 - 14:05

For a long time, football has received multiple sponsorship offers. This is due to the sport having a huge audience which translates to a market for eager brands. Traditionally, shirt sponsorships in football used to be consumer brands, breweries, electronics, and financial service companies.

With the advancement of the global gambling industry, online casinos and betting companies became one of the biggest sponsors of football clubs due to their advertising pouring into sports. Their deep-rooted fan culture was a goldmine waiting to be tapped.

Just like other premier league teams, West Ham United noticed the greatness of combining their brand with the online betting world. The club started its first step into gambling sponsorships just as the whole industry was switching to digital versions.

Starting from traditional betting shop ads placed around the stadium to investing millions into sponsor deals, the digital world has changed a lot. The digital transformation of gambling has not only changed the betting experience sports fans enjoy but also changed the financial outlook for club sponsorships.

West Ham’s Notable Partnerships with Online Casinos

During the past ten years, West Ham United has participated in a number of promotional deals with online casinos brands for marketing purposes and furthering the club’s engagement with the gambling industry. The agreement, which has been renewed ad nauseam, led to the corporation’s logo being emblazoned on its iconic claret and blue shirts, representing the commercialization of football and gambling.

For West Ham, this sponsorship was important because of their limited funding options when the club’s revenues were commercially driven due to intense competition in the Premier League.

A number of sponsorships were available which came with substantial funding aimed at covering expenditures related to player acquisitions, stadium upgrades, and general developments within the club. The Betway deal, which was believed to be one of the most significant deals in the club’s history, highlights the extent to which football sponsorships are valued by betting companies.

Also, West Ham's relationship with betting companies was more extensive than this. In addition, some online casinos have sponsored West Ham and advertised digitally to club supporters, thus promoting the club using the London Stadium digital screens.

This allowed West Ham to raise their position in terms of commercial income and simultaneously provided unrivalled advertisement to online casinos to a football audience

The Debate Over Gambling Sponsorships in Football

Despite the financial benefits, the growing online casino presence in football is making sponsorships get a lot of attention. In their advocacy, it is emphasized that the engagement interfaces with gambling brands are vividly promoting betting and thus advocating for marketing and responsible gambling policies. Although there is a clear financial advantage, the increasing presence of online casinos is attracting a lot of attention to sponsorships.

It is now evident that there are no missing loose ends regarding whether there should be further limitations imposed on advertisements with casino sponsorships at the level of football governance. West Ham is not an exception and like many other clubs, the West Ham sponsorship deals put the club in severe financial turmoil. Not only does the club face heavy scrutiny regarding the impact of gambling on sports, but it also struggles with the ramifications heavy criticism brings.

Ending advertising constraints comes with a caveat – football and all its governing bodies are gradually crossing dangerous lines regarding promotion. If more severe restrictions are placed, club sponsors will be forced to reconsider irresponsible business decision-making policies born out of negligence.

The Future of Sponsorships in Football

Like in any aspect of business, the West Ham United sponsorships will change with developments happening worldwide. It is particularly striking how the trend of online casinos sponsoring West Ham is notorious.

The likely outcome if more scrutiny is placed on clubs by regulators is that new partnerships will force a shift to add pressure on revenue streams and expenditures towards long-term spend to ensure sustainability.

Controversial concern regarding the commercial growth policies will also arise with the sponsorship of Gaming and football clubs speared by West Ham United. One truth remains, whether the club’s financial with online casino gaming will sustain or shift into other realms, modern soccer will always look for sponsors from all angles and maintain a robust inflow of money.

In Closing

The West Ham United alliance with an online gambling agency demonstrates the change of paradigm in the economics of football. The efforts to increase a club’s income have escalated into a debate concerning ethics, corporate governance, business relations, and attempts to rationalize, explain, and provide reasons on the matter.

These partnerships have indeed aided the club but at the same time bring to the surface the complex problems that professional sports franchises face in their attempt to generate revenue while maintaining socially responsible standards. The response by West Ham and other clubs to the changes in sponsorships in a maturing business environment will be quite intriguing to follow.

Potter Left Wandering After Defeat

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Tue, 01/04/2025 - 21:48

Despite the date marking April Fools, it, unfortunately, wasn’t a joke that West Ham fans had to endure in another game of this seemingly everlasting season.

Lineups saw Mohammed Kudus missing completely, as well as Todibo and Soucek finding themselves on the bench. Potter decided to throw all his toys out the pram and try something new… which at first was hard to see but apparently it was in a 5-2-1-2.

The first half pretty much summarises the performances, an open goal miss from Evan on his first start, along with a deflection of Kilman leading to Wolves’ first.

Tony Harrington decided that the colour of April is yellow, handing out three cards in the first half. Unsurprisingly, Mavro being one of them.

Guilherme could only face 45 minutes before being dragged off for the German’s return.

Without trying to sound like a broken record each week. The second half was a carbon copy of the first, lack of chances created, mistakes made in the crucial moments, holes in the midfield and the forwards struggling to shoot.

The two best chances of the game went to Fullkrug, who had a header denied in which Emerson couldn’t even hit the target on in the rebound. And the other being a clear-cut chance which was struck wide of the post.

A 1-0 Loss is the result we travel back to London with, a joke of a performance to match today’s date.

8 games to go… phew
