  • No Good News

    Watching the news on whatever channel nowadays is 90% filed with depressing or morbid reports. So it should come as no surprise that after clicking onto Newsnow this morning the vast majority or "articles" were focused on the trouble that marred a fantastic result against Chelsea. Make no mistake if it wasn't for these mindless moron's this result would have covered the back pages in a much more positive light. Instead I've had my fill of mocking comments and purile statements made about my team and have to admit I'm outraged!
    These retards, with IQ's way lower than their shoe sizes are dragging our club and everything it stands for through the mud and we're coming out smelling of Shit!
    I don't know if these idiots are so called "die hards" who have found a second coming after the hooligan littered 70's and 80's, representatives of other clubs who've managed to secure a season ticket on the flawed +1 scheme and are hellbent on tarnishing our once good name, or just total imbeciles who seem to think this is a smart way to spend an evening.
    I watch other sports around the globe and none of them come near to enduring this problem, why? Are football fans that effing stupid that rather than do the world a favour and jump off a bridge, they'd rather come and spoil a game for the many honest fans who go to watch and cheer on their club.
    I honestly hope that everyone of these thugs is identified, banned, charged, jailed and hung out to dry by their employers so that hopefully one day in the not too distant future honest fans can take their kids to games once more and not have to shield them from mindless buffoons.
    A great victory but a very sad result.

  • West Ham Ban The Booze For Fans, Players As Well?

    West Ham United are to enforce a booze ban ahead of the EFL Cup visit of Chelsea tomorrow night, fans will not be allowed to buy alcohol in mobile bars outside the London Stadium. Police will be patrolling around the ground before and after the match and will be fully deployed around the London Stadium for the first time, although they were in attendance in limited numbers for the most recent match against Sunderland. All supporters have been urged to arrive early because of extra body searches that will be carried out at the turnstiles.
    A West Ham statement read: “There will be no pre-match alcohol sales from the mobile bars outside the stadium but bars will be open as normal inside the ground, “All bottled alcoholic beverages will be decanted into plastic cups. There will be no post-match alcohol sales. “The Met Police will deal with crime and disorder and support all the stakeholders in making this a safe event.”
    That includes the decision to keep Chelsea fans away from Stratford International and Underground station, with a segregation system set to be put in place outside the ground that will direct fans to the nearby Pudding Mill Lane Docklands Light Railway station. With over 5,000 Chelsea fans attending the match on Wednesday night, extra security will be needed particularly to and from the transport links. Chelsea fans may not be able to travel from Stratford station after the match, but it is a shorter walk to Pudding Mill Lane DLR station with the walk taking much less time than it does to Stratford by foot.
    However, the away fans might be held in the stadium in order to allow the larger number of home supporters to disperse, which could leave fans stranded. The match will not finish any earlier than 21:30, and should the tie got to extra-time and penalties, it could go on for an additional 45 minutes. With many Chelsea fans already planning to make their way home from Stratford, they would face the task of walking to Pudding Mill Lane and travelling one stop back to Stratford – providing they are allowed by police who could choose to prevent trains filled with Chelsea supporters from stopping at the station.
    Another official West Ham statement confirmed “A cordon will be in place either side of turnstile D (away turnstile) and all away supporters will egress via the south steps towards Pudding Mill Lane Station. The corridor from turnstile D to the south steps will be closed to home supporters for around 30 minutes during peak egress.”“Due to the post-match segregation, home supporters exiting podium level via turnstiles C, B and A will need to turn right on exit and walk clockwise around the stadium. Home supporters exiting podium level via turnstiles E, F and G will need to turn left on exit and walk anti-clockwise around the stadium.”
    Readers can be excused for having thought the first part of this article heading was in some way referring to the consumption of alcohol by professional athletes that are paid a fortune who are currently out injured! Perhaps the club should extend the occasional booze ban to players as well as fans?- Ed

    The Blue flag boys spank the Mancs and 'mow a meadow', they purr past the disconsolate ex-special one, Jose Mourinho, and his miss firing over valued and over priced yet under performing Manchester United, and set up the Stamford Bridge well to do faithful who are clearly salivating a synchronised eutopic leap of celebration with their animated Conte of a manager as they crush the cockney minnows of west ham united at their rag tag London Stadium rough sleepers refuge.
    Given the segregation of supporters issue and the fact that West Ham have been totally woeful, last game excepted, at their new home, many fans will be thinking twice about attending the match on wednesday evening. But nights like these are what defines a team, it's supporters and their relative destinies. On paper the visitors are the bookies favourites, especially given the demolition job they did on Manchester United, but nights under the lights whether at the Old Boleyn or the new London Stadium are special, very special indeed, and perhaps being the underdogs will suit Slaven Billic and his boys as they look to write new records of achievement.
    This will be the first 'proper night match' at the London Stadium, all of those who attend will be able to say they were there, it is to be hoped that it is remembered for having a brilliant atmosphere and a positive outcome - Ed

    He battled 4 strokes and camcer but at 87 pneumonia finally took him.he was a lovely man with no malice and would do anything whilst he was able bodied to help anyone. I will miss him. RIP my dad.

    Hammers Talisman and hero Dimitri Payet is due to be in the next list of 20 names to be released at 11.00 BST on monday morning, the first part of the alphabetical list has already been released and includes Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Brune.

    Last week against palace I thought Zaza played very well without reward as for yesterday I have not seen the match and cannot comment on his performance but I know that he has not scored and that is why we have him but playing upfront on your own what do you expect....I was happy to see Slav change formation but still to have just one man upfront on his own really means we will struggle to score more than one in a match...I would rather start with two strikers get into a nice winning position then haul one off and bolster the mid/def....until then I think this season is going to get harder and harder for us goal wise.

    It seems an awfully long time ago that Hammers began their season with a contentious defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Diego Costa scored the winning goal even though he should not have been on the pitch following a disgraceful challenge on Adrian that warranted a straight red card let alone a second yellow! The match was supposed to be the beginning of West Ham United's 'brave new world', but in true east end tradition fortune began to hide after 36 minutes when record £20 Million signing Andre Ayew succumbed to a serious injury that has kept him out for the entire season so far.
    Since that opening fixture in the Barclays Premier League Hammers have struggled desperately to re-discover the scintillating early form of last season, perennial 'sick note' Andy Carroll quickly joined Ayew on the long term injured list along with the disenfranchised Diafra Sakho, these three injuries deprived Slaven Billic of most of his striking options, which allied to the absence of Aaron Cresswell have contributed in no small measure to the appalling start fans have been forced to endure. The move from the beloved Boleyn to the London Stadium only served to crank up the pressure and ensure results were firmly under the media spotlight, fortunately Big Sam stepped in just in the nick of time to deflect what had become an almost unstoppable tide of negativity. First glint of light came with the consolidating draw against Middlesbrough, not such a bad result given their recent game against Arsenal at the Emirates, later came the International break followed by the 'massive' win away to Crystal Palace.
    The home win against relegation strugglers Sunderland was not a comfortable victory, but it meant six points from two games, two clean sheets and a bit of positive momentum, the EFL game against Chelsea is a bit of a diversion in some ways, but it is a match that may well see the return of Andre Ayew. Unlike others, Ayew has knuckled down and pushed himself to the limit in order to be available for selection nearly TWO months ahead of the original estimate, his presence along with that of Aaron Cresswell should have a galvanising effect on the fragility of a West Ham team that seems to have been shorn of it's confidence.
    Slaven Billic is no longer being mentioned prominently in the managerial 'sack race' odds, 888Sport Premier League Social Index have David Moyes firmly installed as favourite to part company with his employers, yesterday's opponents Sunderland and for the moment at least Slaven Billic can go back to being the affable and laid back person he has always been in the past, instead of the anxious and stressed shadow of his former self that he had become recently!
    The result against Chelsea is obviously important, but the game does present an opportunity for the home team to play with a little more freedom than if it was a premier League match. Hopefully the fans will get behind the team and start to turn the London Stadium into a 'fortress under the spotlights'. - Ed

    NB: A disappointing footnote is that there was further trouble between opposing fans outside the ground, albeit not on a large scale, but for the second match running my 11 year old son witnessed grown men throwing punches and hurling people to the floor and the odd bit of 'claret'! Why is it that football seems to be the preserve of cave men when it comes to behaviour? Rugby fans happily mingle before and after matches, and so do the vast majority of football fans, unfortunately some people really do seem to be stuck in the past! Incidentally, the overground train heading west from stratford had fans of West Ham and Sunderland on board who were later joined by lots of Arsenal fans and a few from Middlesbrough, all four groups of supporters were able to travel in harmony and have civil discussions among them selves.
    It is the joint responsibility of fans from all clubs to stamp out football hooliganism, eventually it will be viewed in the same light as drink driving or smoking in the same room as children.
