What do Newcastle fans really want?

Submitted by Red Neck Iron on Fri, 11/03/2016 - 18:43

I'm not having a go at the Geordies but I don't see what they really want from a manager? We were criticised for being deluded for getting rid of Sam but the truth was only ever a demand for a bit of entertainment from him, after all it is an entertainment business! It wasn't extra points we yearned for or European football just something worth watching. Well as far as Newcastle are concerned what do they want? Ok I'm not surprised Maclaren has been sacked football wasn't that bad but he had no effect on his team whatsoever. They did want money spent on the team, well this season they have spent 80 mill to no avail! 80 million! So they got that and it made no difference. They hounded pardew out but he did ok they flirted with Europe and relegation but that wasn't good enough for them. Based on what he did at West Ham he had limitations but did play decent enough football. Now Rafa is there where do they go from here if he fails too? Must admit I'm surprised he is touch that job with a barge pole. He's doomed.

Sunderland or Newcastle -- one of them is going down. Big Sam has never been relegated, and much as I don't like his style of play, if you look at Sunderland's record since he took over it speaks for itself. And you'd have to say they've been unlucky not to have 4 points more right now. But Rafa won't want to be relegated either, and Newcastle have a match in hand and a dead easy run in. The March 20th derby between them is going to be blood and guts. Oddly, I predict Big Sam to be victorious. I don't think Rafa knows an EPL relegation dogfight too well and his organisation is in worse disarray than Blunderland's. But we'll see. Bet he wishes he had taken West Ham now! (But if you are like me, you're happy the way things turned out for us. SB is the new generation.)

Ashes not sure what a dead easy ru is when you are in the bottom 3 as almost everyone is technically better than you! I agree in most of what you are saying tho. Makes it a bit more interesting now. Think a new manager might at least give them the initial lift they need right now. ( big Sam was relegated with notts county)

That notts county relegation caught me out in reds quiz ashes, never knew Rafa has one also on his CV with Spanish side Extremadura, funny both around the same time 1997–1999 i'm looking forward to see these 2 battle,Rafa and Sam will resume a long-standing feud, never knew that either should be fun :)

My prediction for the bottom three has always been Aston Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle from the first 6 matches onwards. Cant see any different at the moment but Norwich having slipped into the dreaded relegation zone might prove me wrong as one of the Geordie teams escapes. Which one? Newcastle maybe?

A D Bonds

My beef with the Newcastle situation is we are described as deluded when all we wanted extra is entertaining football whereas it seems Newcastle have escaped this tag despite seemingly demanding a lot more than us! How does that make us deluded and them not?

Short memories. Remember that football only started in 1993 with the Premier League and Newcastle came oh so close to winning the title at one point so in every pundit's eyes they have a right to demand more whereas we've been up and down a few times and when you hire someone like Sam, who did so well with Bolton during the PL era, stands to reason we should want no more!
