Well He Would Say That Wouldn't He?

There has been much debate as to how this suspended Barclays Premier League season can be brought to a satisfactory conclusion, there are so many variables, the outcomes of which having possibly profound effects on various clubs, particularly those in the relegation and promotion battles. The Government have just extended the Country's lock down for a further three weeks, and based on information from other countries those three weeks will more than likely be extended by a further three weeks as it is believed the 'peak' of the Covid 19 Pandemic has yet to hit the UK.

If the anticipated lock down extends for six weeks in total, which is probably the least amount of time, then the 7th of June would be the earliest possible date to resume football. If games were sanctioned, they would obviously have to be played either behind closed doors or in grounds with limited attendances that would have to be heavily 'policed' in order to ensure social distancing. Whatever scenario finally unfolds there will be winners and losers, Lady Brady did herself and the club a great disservice by saying the season should be finished as it stands, this would suit West Ham because of the club being outside the relegation zone on goal difference. There is also the fact that five of games remaining are home fixtures which would benefit David Moyes' men despite the London Stadium not always being the most comfortable place for the home side to play football.

At the other end of the table Liverpool could miss out on the title they so richly deserve, and the other European spots, with their commensurate financial benefits are still up for grabs, which might explain why Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder hopes there will not be a deadline set for the end of the campaign as his club have an outside chance of breaking in to Europe.

He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I'm sure that we will adjust accordingly. I think for the integrity of the competition and competitions, especially the top end of English football and European football, they'll want to finish the season. I believe that there will be an ability next year to adjust, with international breaks, with moving a few games into midweek. We have that ability through organisation and planning to finish this season off, but only as everybody said, and I'll reiterate that, when it's safe to do so for everybody. And that obviously we have to take our lead off the government and what they suggest and want us to do."

Well, he would say that wouldn't he? Not only would the season being played to fruition help his European aspirations, but it could also mean West Ham being sucked deeper into the relegation mire. There is no love lost between West Ham and Sheffield United due to 'Tevezgate', so it takes little imagination to see why Wilder would like the additional joy of seeing the club that 'so wronged' the blades that they went running to mummy! They did alright though, they got what now would not have been attainable due to strings being pulled in high places and certain skeletons in cupboards.

In fact the last 'gift' Sheffield United 'donated' to West Ham was the injury 'given' to Felipe Anderson, which kept him out of action for five weeks, just when he was really needed, forcing David Moyes to play an out of form, bereft of confidence Manuel Lanzini instead! - Ed

If this season resumes Nev,i have this frightful feeling we will not make the grade, after such a long stand off,we may of lost any momentum we had,as we were fragile at the best of times,we could only hope the teams around us are the same, and your right,we cant rely on any home games as a dead cert win.

We are fragile and have a soft under belly when what you need is steel and the ability to win ugly! That said we are all in the same boat and I am sure other fans will think the same of their teams. If... They decide the seasons over, and the Bindippers run off into the sunset with the silverware, and decision is made on who goes down then those clubs should get double the parachute payment number for compensation.......and that includes us if they use some dam Duckworth Lewis calculation!

Lol Dartford about Ron Greenwood, mind you Bondzo and Lampard senior were rather partial to scything opponents down,so was Keith Robson........i remember that punch up with Franny Lee shown on match of the day,on the day it happened, when stuff like that was shown,no hand bags at dawn there, men were men and issues were dealt with there are then, end of move on,not going on and on like now, courts of enquiry for the next few years, psychological reports worrying if one dropped their hair band........great days again dartford.

Great days!

Great memories of Keith Robson, decent player and the goal against E Frankfurt, not only one of the best games ever at UP but great goals all round, still today my favourite game uder the lights. But when it came to fighting the right hook he hit Ipswichs Burley with was a beaut... spun on a tanner and hit him full pelt. Didnt even look at the ref... just walked straight off, classic!. I never liked Burley, he kept Tonka out of the Scotland team which was nonsense!

I remember that also Dartford,he was a handful on the pitch, much too much for Burley,he was out of his league with Robson, reckon he was a character in the dressing room also.

With all the money floating about I'm surprised no one thought of a contingency plan for something like this. Wimbledon (tennis) are cashing in handsomely after insuring against exactly this.
If, in a single game, aliens invade in the 72nd minute the game is abandoned and the result stands.
Surely it should have been written into the articles of association that if a league has to be abandoned by Force Majure then, provided X number of games have been played, half, two-thirds, whatever, then the league should finish as it stands, or such a formula will apply, if not enough games are played then declare it void.
You can't make up rules on the fly someone will always be upset.

There'll be that many different insurance connotations after this complete load of contrived Chinese bollocks. I wouldn't say I have ever been a conspiracy theorist (but did you not think Fred Dibnah {steeplejack in 70's}had nothing to do with those 2 towers in New York falling) but for one they wanted to silence Hong Kong protesters for making them look daft...just last week many were arrested and possibly won't be seen again for some time. Many of the bigger countries who use China for their slave trade priced 'gear' told them where to go and they have said, OK let's see what you can do with a Virus that could cripple your lovely little communities.

Wuhan has the largest virology centre in China and it seems slightly odd they sell dodgy bat soup in a 'seafood market'...yes I said seafood market. One dodgy video of a chick eating a bat and the world was sold on it. Not me.
We have been lucky here. Average age of deaths has been mid 70's...(I'm 56 so not counting my chickens...
Love and peace one and all and COYI
