Match Day Pies

Submitted by JMitchell on Sun, 19/03/2017 - 21:07

Hello,

My name is Jess and I am part of the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pies. The Sisterhood is a blogging website that creates content on pies in all different stadiums in lots of different sports. Within the sisterhood there are four of us all studying Football Business and Marketing at UCFB.

Our degree doesn't just involve assignments and exams, it is also about gaining experience in the Football Industry and meeting people who are profoundly involved in the careers we intend to pursue.
So far we have blogged about West Ham which you can find here: http://www.sisterhoodofpies.co.uk/?p=34

We would love any feedback in making the site or content better or even any other types of blogs you would want us to pursue.

Many Thanks

I always stay in my seat unless people in front of me decide to stand, normally due to a shooting chance in the box so its rare! So yesterday this happened a few times and then I got abuse from people behind us in the next block. I gave it back to them and stated that I only stand when I can't see because of others, but one guy kept on and on and I reminded him that he was at a football match and told him to shut up and get a life. Another guy decided to run across from my seat a little while later and grabbed the top of my shoulders and started to shout and rant, I have to admit that at first I thought it must be a mate that I hadn't seen but when I turned to see him shouting and spitting he got a response. He went back to his seat but after a few moments I decided that his actions were not acceptable and I walked over to him and warned him that if he ever laid a hand on me again he would be knocked out cold, I was seriously pissed off and couldn't believe that one of our own would do that and it was in front of Oliver. The first moaner then engaged with Oliver arguing and I had to inform him that arguing with a 13 year old boy was pathetic and over such a stupid subject. I lost it verbally and apologized to those around me after but they all couldn't believe that this bloke would grab me and shout, but they then also told me that he has been moaning all season at anyone getting up even if its for 30 seconds. Thr guy appeared at my side again and he stuck out his hand and apologized for his actions, to which I shook his hand but remined him that he can't go round doing that and picking me out as I'm the smallest wasn't a wise move. I'm all for seating rather than standing FFS! and those around me commented on the fact that I hardly ever stand, normally to bubbles or to observe a minutes applause for a hammer that has sadly passed away. Those around me told me that these people have rooted out a few people that have dissapeared and been replaced in their seats, and if I need witnesses then they would tell the club what happened. I hope it doesn't get to this although my reaction verbally was a strong one, but why one of our own would think that it's right to physically grab another fan is beyond me and it's a sad state of affairs. I love our seats and a lot of thought went into them, but I haven't yet renewed and I'm going to leave it a while to see how it goes over the next few games before I decide.

why worry?

so we lost again but why worry its what west ham do,supporting this club has never been about winning and consistency its like a relationship you have good times and bad times but you have to stick with it to try and make it work.
I dearly want us to be riding high in the league and winning the odd trophy but the reality is we are a long way from that right now.what happened last year was a freaky and now this year we have our west ham back frustrating the hell out of us supporters who know they are capable of so much more but hasn't that nearly always been the case.so whatever this season holds I have belief we can and will get better but also realise a lot has to change this summer.when that arrives we will all no doubt be worrying about the big clubs tapping up lanzini and although not having the best game yesterday Antonio as well but that's for the summer for now I hope we should all take a deep breath and recharge our batteries ready for the Hull game that has become very very big now.COYI

Injuries & Goals Galore As London Stadium Finally Roars!

Given that their team were 2-0 down after less than ten minutes and that their 'new' captain lasted only until the 18th minute, the crowd at West Ham's london Stadium could have been forgiven for 'doing a highbury', but the exact opposite happened. After the initial shock of going behind and losing Winston Reid the crowd suddenly found it's voice, a voice which easily drowned out the predictably boring chants from the Leicester City fans and filled the air with the sort of intimidating atmosphere not experienced during a day time match since the club left the Boleyn. The 'tourists' that left at half time, presumably to go and see a West End musical or show, deprived themselves of seeing a stirring fightback that eventually fell short of the mark due to profligacy in front of goal but mainly due to the brilliance of Kasper Schmeichel Leicester's goal keeper, without his services Hammers could have and would have won, but gifting the opposition a two goal start always had Slaven Billic's new look team on the back foot. Talking immediately after the game he said: “It is very frustrating for us to lose the game. We didn’t start well and what is really disappointing is the way we conceded three goals. The first goal was very sloppy, two goals from set pieces, we knew they are very good at those and we needed to defend them but didn't. We deserved something from the game, we created lots of chances. In this league you can’t afford to be 3-1 down and try to turn the game around, but they showed character, the last 20 minutes the ball just didn’t want to go in. You can call it poor finishing but we have to give huge credit to Kasper Schmeichel , especially for the save to the last chance from Andy Carroll. What gives us hope is our performance in the second half, we were good with and without the ball, all we needed was to add is goals.”
On the injury front he said: “It doesn’t look good with Winston he pulled his abductor and had to go off, when there is no contact and a player has to go of it doesn't look good. Now it looks like Michail won’t be able to go with the England squad, he felt a hammy [hamstring]. We have to assess them next couple of days, hopefully, they will be fit after the international break, we are also waiting on news regarding Pedro Obiang, it was a tackle on his ankle and he is not the one who comes off easy but we have to see in the next couple of days.
We knew Leicester were very capable, not even last year but this season, they had it in them with Ranieri and the game against City, in the Champions League as well but, this team looks different now. They are the same players but they look better, it was a surprise. Very few things surprise me nowadays in football but I think they won today because they had to fight and they did that because they have momentum. Unfortunately, we don't have any over our last three games.
So a tremendous game, a bunch of injuries, three points lost, but an atmosphere found! Priceless - Ed

white lie or the truth

Well well well it appears that mark noble is out injured for Saturday after picking up a knock in training how convenient for him...is it the truth or is it a white lie hoping that things will calm down some from his words about how he views west ham fans and there knowledge of the game.....while I doubt anything but a few murmurs from the crowd about what he had said may have happened it does seem this training ground injury happened before the first home game after his little venting of the spleen....still hopefully it will give slav the excuse to restore kouyate to midfield (aware for some on here they don't want him there)and maybe I mean maybe and thinking out of the box here but maybe play an actual R/B in the R/B position!

Youth Movement?

asheshammer's picture
Submitted by asheshammer on Thu, 16/03/2017 - 07:20

There's been a lot of debate about playing the youth, for almost as long as I can remember. Most of the time I think: if they are not good enough, don't play 'em. But I wonder why has West Ham invested so much effort in youth signings the last couple of years: Fernandes, Fletcher, Oxford, Burke, & Co. -- these were all players that were hyped at the time of signing, leading fans to expect that they were sure to become part of the first team sooner or later (and in most cases sooner). So what's the deal with that? Is it just hype? I don't understand why the club makes the effort if these players aren't ever going to get a chance in the first team.
