Marco Silva

What a breath of fresh air this young charismatic Manager is. When he came to Hull FC earlier in the season it was Marco who????? Never heard of him, but he's never head of me either so what. Turns out he is the find of the season. Easy comparisons to a young Jose with the Portuguese connection. But in my opinion with the exception to MoPo when he first came to Southampton to replace Nigel Adkins. Before going onto Spurs and surely only a step away from Barca, R/Madrid or Bayern. Silva is more in the Pochettino mould. Although we re in a shambles arguably we should be safe but there needs to be a shake up somewhere. Slav has had a lot on his plate this season, some of it his own making? Who knows? I'm still in his corner. But if the ejector seat button is pushed. I wouldn't mind Silva, as one thing is for sure he won't be at Hull much longer and like MoPo before him leaving Saints for the Spuds his stock will continue to rise......................

So sorry to hear of the death of Ugo at such a young age.
He was an immensely talented footballer and I'm sure would have gone on into management with equal success.

Zabaletta on a free and £80grand a week looked at sagna as well but decided not gooners releasing jenkinson so another r/b available on a free defoe on a free....well get used to these kind of rumours because we wont be investing the £100million needed to sort the squad out..the problem with freebies is without a fee players get higher than normal wages and a tasty signing on fee and with a squad that is apparently unhappy with the wages being dealt out to some and not others I think this summer will be a minefield for whoever is in charge both in recruitment and keeping established players happy.

What do we do in defence on Saturday?

Submitted by Red Neck Iron on Thu, 20/04/2017 - 10:26

So on Saturday we will be missing noble and byram, but it sounds like we will have winston and cresswell available. So what do we do in defence? The most obvious problem is we don't have a natural right back, so what do people suggest we do? Do we play 3 with wing backs? Do we play a right back who naturally isn't one ala kouyate or nortveldt or even winston, or play a left back on the right cresswell or masaku? Is it fair to play masaku on the right as he is just starting to settle into a bit of form? And who plays in the centre? Is winston fit enough to start and play most of the game at least?

Was moving to London Stadium the right move? Fan Survey

Submitted by Clubbs on Wed, 19/04/2017 - 16:57

What are your thoughts on the building of the London stadium? Has atmosphere been lost? Was it the right move? Or should Upton Park have been expanded?

Here is a link to the survey. Thanks in advance. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TDXLRXR

This is for my dissertation at university and looks at whether it is more beneficial for football clubs to expand and redevelop their current stadiums such as Liverpool and Man United have done. Move to a new stadium like West Ham. Or construct a new stadium such as Arsenal, and soon to be Chelsea and Tottenham.

People over the age of 18+ only. The project has been approved ethical clearance by the UCFB ethical committee. Reference Number: UCFBREC67

Thanks in advance for all those who take park.

Feel free to talk about it in the comments.

Smoke & Mirrors Terry And Other 'Past its'.

With the season drawing to an end, transfer rumours abound despite the window not opening for months! Having endured a spectacularly disappointing season most West Ham fans are essentially looking for two things, survival in the short term and progress in the future. Assuming the primary objective of Premier League survival is achieved, which is by no means guaranteed it is widely accepted that wholesale changes need to be made which might even involve replacing Slaven Billic as manager with Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi. Inzaghi being the latest in a long list of potential replacement managers to be 'trawled' out by the media along with other drivel that includes the lining up of recruiting John Terry from Chelsea and Vincent Kompany from Manchester City, both were great players in their day but are both are approaching the end of their career, one has a terrible injury record and the other is a potentially terrible public relations nightmare and someone who has 'history' with West Ham fans.
Jose Mourinho has made a career out of employing 'mature' players and getting the best out of them, but they have always been utilised in teams that have genuine pace to compensate for the lack of theirs! It is highly unlikely that this business plan would work at the London Stadium or whatever it is eventually named, Hammers just do not have enough money to afford the luxury of injury prone players with potential, that category of player is absolutely well catered for already!
Slaven Billic, or who ever is in control next season could do well to take a leaf out of Alex Ferguson's book by USING THE YOUTH PLAYERS! It is the only way West Ham can possibly hope to bridge the gap to the top clubs, only from within can a club generate players and consequently potential huge sell on fees, West Ham had it once but squandered a generation of superb players including Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Glen Johnstone and Jermain Defoe.
Back to the future? It might be the only way, but signing old players on huge money seems to be the favoured way at West Ham, that is of course if you believe everything you see and hear, especially those paragons of virtue Sky Sports! - Ed

Well the rumour mill already in full flow and though laughable I truly hope that these three players are given a wide birth..Kompany/Wilshire both injury prone we do not need anymore of those players thankyou and then that horrible john terry apart from being passed it and slow and chelski I worry when you hear bilic saying he would not say no if he was offered him, well I am sorry but I am sure a majority of fans wont have anything to do with terry it reminds me of when bfs tried to sign el hadj diouf he was close to it but because we fans kicked up such a stink over signing him that the deal was never made I think the same about terry is more than a possibility,so thanks but no thanks to those three players.
