New Player Saga

Saga was a company that used to specialise in slow paced holidays and 'safe' car and home insurance for the 'silver surfer' older generation. They took plenty of time explaining options and were always proud of the fact that they DIDN'T try to bamboozle their ageing customers.

Well it appears West Ham United decided to adopt the 'saga' approach when it came to this summer's transfer window, despite having a full kitty as a result of the sale of Declan Rice to London rivals Arsenal, Hammers have been painfully slow in acquiring urgently needed new players!

Well as Clarkson would say when referencing all things Canadian, "that's all 'aboot' to change!" It appears West Ham have finally landed their first major signing of the summer, IN PRINCIPAL!

Edson Alavarez has been tracked/pursued by the club for what seems like an absolute age, Ajax obviously wanted top dollar for what is a top player, so eventually 'Dino' Moyes was persuaded by Tim Steidten to pull the trigger on the move. Alvarez is at the peak of his years and at 25 years old will have a significant sell on value, a term Hammers bean counters had to look up in the dictionary!

The fact is that British clubs, well aware that Hammers were flush with cash, decided to take the proverbial with the pricing of their players, Manchester United in particular decided to really 'chance it' WITH THEIR RIDICULOUS VALUATIONS of both Scott McTominay and especially the ageing Harry Maguire!

Left to his own devices, Moyes would have been crawling up the Manchester club's drain pipe in order to get hold of two very ordinary players, after all there is a reason Eric Ven Tag wants rid of them both! If this is 'Ze German' factor that has been brought about by the addition of Tim Steidten, then long may it continue!

For too many years West Ham has been the final destination for ageing players looking for one last pay day, in fact it is one of Football's in house jokes about the 'Elephant's grave yard' that exists in the East End.

Hopefully, the problematic left back situation can finally be resolved as well as signing a striker who actually FITS into the current team and the 'old school' approach of the incumbent manager. An extra centre back is required as is a back up striker to who ever also arrives, because as Moyes likes to 'run the life' out of new signings to show who's boss, they will inevitably pick up an injury in training before a shot is fired in anger!

We still think the Board should have 'bounced' Moyes at the end of last season, but every little helps if Moyes isn't 100% in control of transfers!

Expect a busy few weeks until the end of the window. - Ed

Devil And The Deep Red Sea?-McTominay&Maguire

Perhaps David Moyes decided to play the 'Sam Game' as he sent his side out against Bayer 04 Leverkusen yesterday, back in the day then manager Sam Allardyce responded to calls for using more youth players by sending out virtually an ENTIRE team of youth players for an FA Cup tie where Hammers were duly thrashed!

Did Moyes want to show the board his lack of options? Or does he really NOT have a clue? Moyes's fervent pursuit of Harry Maguire AND Scott McTominay has gone from the blind to the ridiculous, the only hope is that he can somehow be persuaded to only go for Scott McTominay.

At least Scott McTominay has age on his side, just about! Whereas Maguire is an 'accident waiting to happen' and the club will rue it's decision to back Moyes in his pursuit of the Manchester United has been. Perhaps that is it? Maguire and Moyes, Manchester's M&M are both 'has beens' who have essentially been booted out by the club, neither seem to understand 'modern' football as they bundle their way towards retirement.

Unfortunately Hammers are shackled with all the rumours about 'potential' targets that are flurrying around, so any serious business being attempted will NOW mostly be viewed as 'smoke and mirrors'. Big time football transfers are tricky business, the details of which are rarely in the public domain, so deals to bring in players like Edson Alvarez are usually conducted away from the prying eyes of 'so shall' media.

The Hammers 'circus' WILL keep rolling on until the last day of the transfer window, with many hoping that the 'Will' involved will be Will Self! The board should have pulled the plug on Moyes, paid him off handsomely and moved on, instead they are stuckm woth a man who has refused to move with the times, yesterday's game saw Moyes cut a disconsolate figure.....maybe now he might begin to realise what it is like to be a fan!

Scott McTominay at £40 Million is insane, at £30 Million just about acceptable, BUT paying ANYTHING AT ALL for Harry Maguire is totally unbalanced thinking, BOTH FROM AN ACCOUNTANCY POINT OF VIEW AND MORE IMPORTANTLY from pure common sense! - Ed

Are there really 3 teams worse than us?

I ask that because i think that is behind Sullivans thinking....Luton/Forest/Sheff utd/Burnley/Bournemouth/Wolves/Everton....are all teams i reckon that those in charge think we will finish above this season and if so then good business getting shot of Rice barely spending any money(as of this moment thats £0)and staying up.
Foolish thinking like that got Leicester relegated last time round and have they seen our last two "friendly results? that finished with a total of 7-1 aggregate......we all seen how poor we were last season does anyone really expect any difference?

So i ask again are there really 3 teams worse than us this time round? yes we may have a few better players than those teams mentioned but do we have a Team a spirit a will to win like they do?

Irons Fans 'Insulted' By Maguire's Ego!

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Fri, 04/08/2023 - 11:09

Well it looks as if the Old Dinosaur is going to get his way, there are even rumours David Moyes will contribute towards the cost of bringing Man 'YOU'VE BEEN CONNED' pair Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay himself! Moyes' tunnel vision 'dream' signings might be a dream for the 60 year old Scot but they are an absolute NIGHTMARE for the majority of fans who can see that the vast majority of the Declan Rice money is going to be "pissed in the wind"!

Indeed Maguire is said to be 'insulted' by Hammers low valuation, well get real Matey, you are a 30 year old with his best years behind him who MIGHT just have a couple of years left in the tank and will have ABSOLUTELY NO RESALE value in the future.

Maguire is on MASSIVE money, so much so, that Ven Tag will have to get the bean counters at Old Trafford on the case to draw up a plan to 'supplement' the players bloated wages before ANYONE in their right mind would even countenance acquiring Maguire!

However, 'right minds' and David Moyes' transfer logic are two different bed fellows, so expect the worst! Having 'destroyed' potential World beaters like Sebastien Haller and Gianluca Scamacca, Moyes seems hell bent on ruining West Ham, does he have an agenda?

The poor little chap has seriously been affected by the arrival of the future and like most Luddites cannot bear change, in fact he seems as if he will do absolutely ANYTHING to remain in control of transfers IRRESPECTIVE of the eventual consequences...this borders on the criminal!

For the first time in years the club is relatively debt free and COULD push on past the 'glass ceiling', well it could if Moyes relents his iron grip! Failing that the average age of the already ageing squad will go up and the wages BILL go through the roof and that is before the inevitable knock on effect of employing has beens on huge money, team spirit building it is NOT!

So we would suggest Maguire looks to himself and his club performances over the last couple of seasons and asks himself, who is insulting who? - LN

PS: Maguire might be good for England, but haven't Hammers had enough of providing players for International duty only for them to get injured?

Mystic Enfield has gazed into his crystal ball to see what delights our beloved West Ham has in store for us.
I see before the season commences we shall participate i the summer transfer window. However, do not get excited. He will be a fringe player who will keep the bench warm. After a 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on the opening day the daggers will be firmly out for Moyes.
Despite the Hammers trying to cheer the faithful with a lap of honour with our European prize from last season in our first home game. Poch & his Chelsea team will walk away from the London Stadium with an easy earned 3 points. The toxic atmosphere from an inept performance will turn to the box. Sullivan & co finally decide to have a dabble in the market but Moyes decides the latest costly addition is not match fit and only warrents a place on the bench at our nemesis Brighton & Hove Albion. Despite holding the Seagulls until half time we eventually capitulate and lose by 3 late goals. A final warning is issued to Moyes. A point minimum is what is required at Luton. The team duly assist but tensions remain. Moyes is then given the unenviable task of being told to get 4 points against City & Liverpool. With no further additions to the squad we are thumped at home by City and Moyes duly recieves his cards. With little or no time left to bring in a manager or players and with no plane. Mr West Ham himself is asked to steer the good ship West Ham through the stormy waters.

Don't worry H G this a light hearted topic directed at the male of the species, phew I thought I better clarify that before a number of moderators got on my case!!
Anyway trust me it is intended to be light hearted I certainly am not trying to get back to the old toxic Org...feck me I'd be the first to be offski to Russian shores...
I degress it starts in school then at work then middle age then i think luckily it really wanes by about 60 ish where basically you can say what you bloody well like...
Anyway ffs they're saying get to the point H...lol.;)
I'm possibly going through a mid life crisis, have contacted some associates of old recently in the building game still most of them around my age & all have their own businesses so we've all done OK!!
Some in Holland, some in Belgium, some East End still, some sarf of the river,Essex etc
Well this is the funny thing I was quite a shy kid, tried to be unassuming, but always stuck up for myself..feck me you had to simple as! But what was important to me was to keep that sense of humour as much as possible, half East End/ Irish surely i must have inherited it from somewhere.
Anyway cut a long story short & feck me most of the boring bastards have blocked me on F B...some people just don't get it...

Moyes Man U Obsession Is Riduculous!

So they fired you unfairly a zillion years ago, Man up and get over it Mr Moyes! Ever since he got the tin-tack from Manchester United, some say unfairly, David Moyes has been obsessed with showing them that they were wrong to pull the trigger so early into his five year deal!

Of course on reflection it was a 'poisoned chalice' appointment, no one was going to bring the type of success 'ol red nose' had brought to the club without a complete top to toe rebuild, something that has taken the acquisition of Eric Ven Tag to achieve, many tried but failed so Moyes should have got rid of the chip on his shoulder years ago, instead his chip has grown into a fat potato and it's effect is ruining West Ham!

Moyes's comprehensive but ultimately unsuccessful pursuit of Jesse lingard is a classic example of how obsession can get in the way of judgement, the Hammers manager wasted huge amounts of time and energy trying to get the player to come to the club when he clearly didn't want to, Moyes is now doing the same thing with over priced past it Harry Maguire, what is Moyes on?

Signing a player like Maguire is what the club used to do under the dark cloud of the Cairns family back in the day when player value was equated against buying new static mobile homes! Nothing seems to change, Moyes is obviously quite clearly out of his depth when it come to 'big money' signings where his failures far out way his successes, players who arrive and thrive do so in spite of Moyes not because of him.

Many feel he should have left the club this summer with a handsome pay off and his head held high, instead he is in danger of destroying ALL the good will he built up, if only he could see what is happening, sorry Mrs Moyes but you are the only one he seems to listen to.

So for heaven's sake please, please, please tell him "I'll gie ye a skelpit lug!" in his shell like! - Ed

I'm Moyes Out Once Again

I was very Very happy with Moyes and beating Fiorentina and said to a few of my mates out there in Prague, that I would like to see him bow out Gracefully- and go to Celtic thought this would be his dream club. But now once again I have Got the Pox of David Moyes we've missed out on a really promising talent too Ajax. Steiden Wanted him, bet your life Rob Newman and Noble wanted him, a real bargain 14 million no wonder we missed out on Barnesas well bet he put the block on that as well - we will never Know. At this rate our team will not have any young players all older players with absolutely no sell on value whatsoever and losing money like we did with Haller and Vlassic the average age will 30, and nothing for the long term, and I wonder why we signed Steidman in the first place. Thought like a lot of fans that this was a New Beginning- what was it called West Ham Mach 2.0 more like Back to the Future Phase out. We will have have no new players. You can see why the coaching staff are all leaving. It turns out Moyes never wanted Borges in the first place so the vote must have gone 3-2 presuming Sullivan backed Moyes, says a lot for Sullivan as well, and says a lot for our future hope we lose the first few games and David Sullivan realizes MOYES HAS GOTTA GO. Done very well winning the Conference Leauge and he will always be remembered by WHU fans, But if we dont wake up he will be remembered for something else RELEGATION
