Which of these four goals against the spuds is your favourite...i no they all will be but which is the one that you enjoy the most.

1...Ravel Morrison and that brilliant run and goal

2...Pedro Obiangs absolute rocket out of nowhere at Wembley

3...Antonios being the first goal scored let in at there new toilet bowl

4...Manuel Lanzinis wonder strike

Now you may of noticed that all those goals were scored away from home which makes them all the more special and there is nothing like sticking it to those overinflated overrated egos that are the spuds fans and i wonder how many will be off sick tomorrow because they have to call into talkshite and moan like they always do

and my fav was Antonios because i was there but all of them were brilliant goals that will live long in the memory

Wham Bam! Cherry On Top

Much loved Hammers player Pablo Fornals used to be one of the first players on David Moyes' team sheets but the need to 'accommodate' new signings has seen him drop to the bench in all but a few Premier League games, although he has featured in all the 'Con Cup' games.

Fornals came on with 25 minutes to go and scored a 'Scorpion Kick' goal as well as providing an assist for Cornet who had come on as a sub at the same time, unfortunately the Cornet goal was adjudged offside but Fornals' goal stood. Anyone with a heart would have felt moved as the emotion of scoring such a goal overwhelmed the lovable Spaniard, leaving him unable to control the tears that streaked down his face.

Now that's what you call emotion, pure love of the club and it's supporters shone from the self confessed 'cockerny', it was obvious to all and sundry just how much he has missed starting for the club this season. David Moyes alluded to Fornals' lack of game time in his post match presser and reiterated what an important player Pablo is for the Irons despite the paucity of his EPL starts.

A top, top player who did not look out of place in the same company as Declan Rice, Pac,man and all the rest of the players who clearly think the world of him as was illustrated by the amount of 'man cuddles' he received following his tearful episode.

For once Hammers were on the front foot from the get go and were rewarded within the first 5 minutes with a Big Mikey Antonio bullet header that left Neto no chance. Things got even better a few minutes later when 'Pacman' leapt like a salmon to score another header that the Bournemouth defence were unable to cope with.

2-0 up after 12 minutes was an incredible way to start the game and things got even better when the captain,Declan Rice, added another couple of million to his sale value with a beautifully executed shot from the edge of the box just before half time.

The 'Cherry' on the cake was Fornals' 2nd half goal but also the rigid defence and authoritative way the players bossed the midfield and restricted the home team to 'spirited' efforts that were well dealt with by Lukasz Fabianski and an evergreen performance from the much maligned Aaron Cresswell. We have absolutely no idea what the medical team have been giving him, but long may it continue!

The win has helped Hammers move up the table and put a few points between the club and the bottom three, but it is still early doors when it comes to survival, the club needs a bare minimum of another TWO WINS before fans can start to relax.

Of course there is the small matter of the 'Con Cup' semi final to deal with along with the crucial Premier League 'monster schedule', the club should never have found itself in this position, but at least everyone can see that the players and yes including the manager, are showing a bit of.....now what is it called? Oh yes, the West Ham way! - LN

PS: Match of the Day will be a 'happy place' tonight irrespective of the amount of time devoted to the Cherries v Irons game, seeing Tottingham gubbed always brings a smile!

Will Moyes Play The % Game?

Crucial games towards the business end of the season, particularly for those clubs embroiled in a Premier League survival battle, are often called six pointers. If ANY game deserves to be given that name, then West Ham United's game away to fellow strugglers Bournemouth at the Amex Stadium surely lives up to that title! Defeat would plunge Hammers back to the brink of the relegation abyss, a draw or a win could see the club virtually safe and sound depending on other results.

For those NOT directly associated with the teams fighting it out at the bottom of the Premier League it makes for entertaining viewing, for fans who ARE directly affected it is an extremely stressful time. So many clubs have sacked their managers this season, more than any other Premier League season in it's history, such are the financial rewards available.

Fine margins can define success or failure and the inevitable "result from nowhere' is quite a common factor in deciding who stays and who drops out of the richest league in World football, even a late spurt of form can see clubs fall short, so points on the board as opposed to games in hand are crucial. West Ham have TWO GAMES in hand on most of the other clubs that are desperately trying to avoid relegation, however those two games in hand are against Manchester City AND Liverpool!

Even a solitary point from both fixtures would be an achievement, but realistically Moyes and his staff will have metaphorically written both games off, which brings us back to tomorrow's games. Bournemouth have shown how resilient they can be so NOTHING short of a supreme effort will do on Sunday, even then it might not be enough to overcome a good side playing in a stadium that isn't big but has a tremendous atmosphere.

The Liverpool game follows on Wednesday evening so Moyes might be tempted to go 'strong' for the Cherries and 'rest' players up against a Liverpool team that have come into form recently, points on the road or a stirring display at the 'disparate' stadium? That is the question that Dini needs to answer emphatically, there is a groundswell of opinion that 'saving' players is counter productive and that there is a need for the current momentum to be carried on as opposed to the side being re jigged.

From a financial point of view staying in the Premier League IS the be all and end all, however Moyes will be thinking that IF he can win the club's first 'proper trophy' since 1980 then he would be guaranteed of having his contract renewed DESPITE being a very unpopular choice among fans, many of which have VERY SHORT memories, it is NOT personal, it IS what fans of ALL clubs do!

Realistically anything could happen in the club's European adventure in the next two games, but survival IS the most important thing. But given the options most fans would elect the latter rather than the former. The concept might smack of a lack of ambition, but it is what it is.....survival is the key! - Ed

Ok we are all sick to death on the Rice going here Rice going there that wont stop until the media get him sold but how much is he worth? the Gooners said to be the only club that interests him right now and with Chelski not in europe and we dont deal with the spuds who else? Manure are well just that Citeh maybe and after last nights impressive goal Madrid? Barca? Bayern?

Those last three wont have the money so that leaves the domestic market and considering he still has two years to go on his contract West Ham have to hold firm regardless of Rices wishes and not get our pants pulled down over a miserly £70/80/90million bid thats rumoured all the gooners will pay...if that was the case then i'm sorry players wishes or not he stays because when he gets to the final year of his contract we would still get the £70/80 million even then.

So if the Gooners came in with say £80 milion +Reiss Nelson and Smith-Rowe would you deal then or say £120million he's yours or jog on?.

People say he has to go to a big club but we are that stop selling ourselves short...only Manure have bigger crowd attendances this season...Gooners/Spuds/Barcodes/Bindippers nowhere near....if you want to be in Europe and a big club you have to act like one and not buckle just because some club ENVYS what you have and think they deserve to have it instead of you because they are supposedly bigger.

So how much is enough or or could he would he if we got Europa league football next season a new manager and big investment again would he say you no what i'll have another year here.....grasping i maybe but in football you just dont know he may just think give Chelski a year to sort themselves out and then go.

Season Defining Four Days!

Between tonight's game against G(h)ent in London and Sunday's game against Bournemouth Hammers ENTIRE season could be defined, victory in both fixtures would see the club reach yet another European competition semi final AND secure Premier League football for next season. Of course defeat in either fixture will have the doom merchants jumping on board with their vast amounts of negative energy directed at the club.

It should not have really come down to this state of affairs given the relatively large financial investment in the squad of late but it is what it is, there is nothing more to add other than it is 'sh*t or bust' time now and nothing other than a resounding win will do tonight! That said, Gent showed enough during the first leg to show just how dangerous they CAN be, so Hammers will have to be at the top of their game to progress to the semi finals.

There are those who argue that the Conference Cup is little more than a sideshow and that PREMIER LEAGUE survival is ALL that matters and to a degree they are correct, BUT winning the 'Con Cup' earns a place in next season's Europa League, something neither Chelsea nor Liverpool look like being able to attain, so it is NOT exactly a dead rubber!

Success against Gent and Bournemouth will NOT make the season something to bang on about in the bragging rights among supporters, but it would go a long way to bringing back the feel good factor that their club once had. Essentially whether by luck or judgement there are at least three teams who are far worse off and if things stay that way then there will be plenty of time to lick the wounds of this currently disappointing season and look forward to the next, hopefully with a new manager at the helm who is a little more forward thinking than David Moyes who has done a stirling job but now needs to move on OR retire!

Ticket sales for tonight's game have rocketed following last weekend's spirited fightback against the Gooners, more of the same will see a lot of happy faces leaving Stratford this evening, a return to the team's 'negative nancy' approach will most definitely NOT! - Ed

All Bets Are Off For Hammers Survival!

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Wed, 19/04/2023 - 20:37

According to a football 'super computer's' most recent findings West Ham United are almost certainly going to avoid being relegated, but only just and at the expense of one of the club's previously managed by current incumbent David Moyes. Southampton look done and dusted and only a miraculous run of results can possibly save them, Everton are teetering on the brink as are Leeds and Nottingham Forest!

Hammers fans won't mind which teams make up the dreaded three so long as it is another club, punters can get all sorts of odds on Premier League survival but the easy money does NOT include West Ham, this was not the case as recently as 5 games ago but recent wins and the 'come back' draw against aspirational Premier League winners Arsenal have left the Irons in a far more respectable position, albeit only 4 points off of the drop zone.

The fact that ALL the teams in the bottom six have to play each other has helped Hammers cause, but you can still get the odd good deal by trying further afield with Betting Sites who do Casino as well, in case you think the Bookies are being a bit mean when it comes to pricing West Ham, then again who ever has heard of a Bookie that isn't mean?

There is still plenty to play for this season beginning with tomorrow night's 'Con Cup' 1/4 final against Ghent or Gent depending on your country of origin, the game is swiftly followed by the away tie against Bournemouth on the weekend, a win at the Ames would virtually guarantee Hammers survival in the topm flight ahead of what many are anticipating to be a complete overhaul from top to bottom of the club INCLUDING David Moyes irrespective of whether he oversees a victory in the Conference Cup and keeps the club in the Premier League, it appears that his tenure WILL cone to a 'mutual' end, which means he will get paid off for the remaining year of his contract believed to be worth £8 Million per year.

Who ever comes into replace Moyes needs to hit the ground running because there are numerous players who need contracts renewing or need replacing as well as a disparate squad that is very talented but needs to be 'rebonded', the talent is there it just needs nurturing, there are also the U-18 and U-21teams that are bursting with talent that need to be given a fair crack of the whip which has NOT been the case since Moyes' tenure.

Make no mistake this has been a long and gruelling season for both players and fans alike, it is most definitely a situation that was NOT expected, but IF the team can pull through as the super computer has predicted then there is no reason to think that next season could see the team climb back to the relatively 'lofty heights' that it attained over the last couple of years.

Win the 1/4 final and put Bournemouth to bed, simples isn't it? If only the super computer could play at left back! - Ed

Masuaku gone

He's finally signed a permanent contract with Besiktas and I have to say I'm quite sorry to see him go. He's obviously made a good impression there and I doubt there will be very few of us Hammers who will forget his wonder goal for us against Chelsea.
His departure however has left me with some thought, as in my idle mindless moments I am prone to try and figure out the best foreign XI we have ever bought. And it's always the left back position that has got me stumped. Too early to give thoughts on Emerson and Masuakus' selection would give probably give howls of derision from this forum. The only other one I can think of is Ilunga who had a wonder first season then totally fell off the radar. Have I missed any other LB's?

Irons Are Serial Title Killers!

nevillenixon's picture
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 18/04/2023 - 18:00

Whether it is liked by fans or not, West Ham United have become serious title and major competition serial killers in the Premier League over the last few seasons. Sunday's draw against Premier League leaders Arsenal has severely dented their chances of winning their first major title since Arsene Wenger left AND before!

Over the past few seasons Hammers have dented or destroyed Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and of course Tottingham's various hopes and that pattern COULD but probably won't continue following the run in games with both Manchester Clubs and Liverpool before the end of the season, The Man Utd and Liverpool games are due to be played at the unnamed Stratford Stadium in the closing stages of the season, the other a trip up to the Etihad for a Haaland inflicted battering unless the Lord comes down to intervene!!

Of course Hammers are in the midst of their own battle, but this is for SURVIVAL, not a higher echelon attainment so fans have absolutely NO need to feel smug in anyway whatsoever, at least until there are enough points on the board. Hammers have arguably the toughest run in of ALL the relegation threatened clubs, the only glimmer of hope is that most of the bottom teams have to play each other before the season's end and the outcomes of their games could serve to nullify most of them from shooting up the table, with the possible exception of Bournemouth who the Irons play on Sunday away at the Amex Stadium who have come into a very decent spell of form.

There is the matter of the Europa Conference league 1/4 final to play against Ghent this Thursday ahead of the Bournemouth game so the squad will be stretched to the full, but that is why clubs have big squads who want to feature in European competition on a consistent basis. This season has obviously NOT gone the way anyone envisaged but redemption for fans, players and owners is still available.

Progress to the 'Con Cup' final and Premier League survival would be totally acceptable now, there will be plenty of time for recriminations and accusations at a later date. For now all that fans can do is get behind their club and be the twelfth man, the Stadium WAS rocking on Sunday against the Gooners! Injuries have played their part as usual in addition to the 'complex' integration of a raft of new players who's arrival was made less than seamless by the managers dinosauric management approach which while currently keeping the team up has failed to get ANYWHERE near the best out of the crop of talented players the Board sanctioned the purchase of.

Having killed off the hopes of other teams, it is to be hoped that Dino doesn't kill off Hammers hopes, which are most definitely precariously balanced. - Ed
