Vlad To Start Against Bees
With the all important 2nd leg of the Europa League Cup 1/4 final only days away, David Moyes has a bit of a selection headache for tomorrow's Premier League game against Brentford. With other results going Hammers way it is important that the club try to maintain its push for a top six place while juggling with it's current European obligations.
Aaron Cresswell is banned for the game against Lyon so he will definitely start against the Bees on Sunday, and as Ben Johnson will need to deputise for him on Thursday night it makes perfect sense for Moyes to 'rest' Johnson and select Vladimir Coufal instead.
Coufal is only just returning from a 'complex' injury but surely must get the nod ahead of Ryan Fredericks who himself picked up a knock against Lyon and was run ragged by their play actors! Coufal will be desperate to make the right berth his own again, having been laded by many for his 'brilliant' performances before Juan Mata injured the Czech International's groin, a serious foul for which he escaped sanction entirely.
It should be remembered how highly regarded Vlad was prior to his injury, hopefully he will be able to recreate that form against what will be a very troublesome and determined Brentford side that is already well schooled in the dark arts of play acting and 'strategic' time wasting. -Ed
