    Talking with a good mate and fellow west ham fan last night both older than we care to admit but when he said staying in the prem was more important than winning a cup i was stunned....yes we all know the argument going on about how the big clubs view the cups as an irritant and of little importance but hearing my friend basically say the same actually left me cold and wondering what is the point of supporting a club if there only reason for being was not winning anything but just staying in a league which they have very very little chance of ever winning....how pointless is that? winning a Trophy is what footballs about not just staying in a league.....times change but truthfully how could you be interested in sport if you never try to win anything in case it means you could drop out of the prem.....so do you agree with his P.O.V? or do you want to win something

  • Moyes Told To Deploy Talent By Owners

    David Moyes is an experienced Premier League football manager, however his lengthy 'sabatical' from the game has ensured that he has become locked in a time capsule with regards to tactics and recruitment. Hammers rolling over for Manchester City might have been part of Moyes' master plan, the problem is that no one knows waht that plan is! The players clearly don't, the massively expensive bench for the Citeh game must have looked at each other and thought what the hell are we doing? They wil also have been thinking what on earth is their 'manager' up to?

    Moyes' tone has changed somewhat following the chastening defeat by City, his I'm here to win games statement and his quite frankly ridiculous comments about selling Declan Rice have done little to ingratiate the ex-Everton and Manchester United boss to either fans or indeed the club's owners. Having 'splashed the cash' on several high profile players, including the £24 Million they paid for Jarred Bowen on transfer deadline day, the Hammers hierarchy were clearly aghast at Moyes' decision to bench, and even entirely exclude the new recruits from the team sent out at the Etihad.

    If Moyes was trying to make a point to the players concerned, he will have realised by now that it back fired spectacularly, all onlookers could see was a team bereft of ideas shooting themselves in the foot. The introduction of new signing Jarred Bowen was timed appallingly, allowing the player just enough time on the pitch to not make a difference, but just enough tiime for him to get infected by the 'Hammer's malaise' virus that saps players confidence, well done Moyes, for 'protecting' the club's newest player! Word is that David Sullivan and David Gold 'requested' a special meeting with David Moyes following the Manchester debacle, the three David's apparently journeyed back to London in the narrow confines on an executive jet in which there was no room to hide. Animated discussions occured that do little to encourage the 'we're all singing from the same hymn sheet' image that is being projected to the media, a media that the club have, in their infinite wisdom, decided to threaten court action against anyone who deosn't agree with the way that the club is being run/ruined.

    Fickle fans can also be surprisingly forgiving, if they see the seeds of growth, but if they see dispirited dross underperforming they will rightly be unsupportive, if Moyes adopts the same tactics and team selection against Liverpool on Monday night as he did against Manchester City, then the club's goal difference will take a 'hammering', and unfortunately goal difference might be the key to survival.

    If Moyes selects his best tam and they get battered, so be it, but at least fans will see a team trying to make amends for what has been a dreadful season, by putting a shift in, the players will instantly be on a better footing with supporters. After all, football is played on a pitch and not on paper, all the stats point towards a comprehensive Liverpool victory, but at least the Irons cantry and give the runaway league leaders a bloody nose! - Ed

    you know the ones where you look for other results down the bottom and hope things have gone well and Today its not gone that bad at all so considering its the bindippers next we will not be that far behind come monday nights result and then hopefully we can concentrate on easier fixtures...spuds and chelski did not look to daunting and points to be had in those games we need to beat watford villa and norwich and burnley then who knows COYI put belief back in our hearts

    When West Ham signed Pablo Fornals, it was seen as a bit of a coup to grab the Spanish international destined for great things, he wasn't even in the Hammers squad that laid down and rolled over for Manchester City during the 2-0 defeat at the Etihad!

    In addition to £24 Million midfielder Fornals, David 'I win games' Moyes also elected to omit £45 Million Sebastien Haller, fit gain £42 Million Felipe Anderson and £24 Million new arrival Jarrod Bowen. Bowen got the last few minutes when the game was already beyond rescuing, neither Haller nor Anderson even made the pitch.

    An old colleague of ours in Brasil got in touch to say there was a caption relating to West Ham headed 'Irons So 'Wealthy' Moyes Can Leave £135 Million Of Talent', yes believe it or not West Ham are followed by many in South America, and they cannot believe what is going on at the London Stadium.

    Neither can we, all we know is that Moyes is proving he is clearly not the right man to take the club forward, problem is who is? - Ed

  • Was Moyes Brought In Just To Sell Rice?

    "No player is bigger than the club" is a hackneyed expression used to cover the sale of a club's most valuable asset, to either balance the books or to reinvest in new players. So the regularity of comments attributed to Manuel Pellegrini's replacement, David Moyes, with regards to the possible sale of Declan Rice has been of some concern to West Ham United fans.

    Those more sceptical than others began to notice the 'veiled' references made by the Scot regarding the sale of Wayne Rooney from Everton to Manchester United, and how the proceeds from that sale enabled him to build a more 'balanced' team. Other mentions of lower league players he plucked from obscurity will have done little to dis-quell the increased levels of anxiety felt, it appears as if one of the prime considerations in reappointing David Moyes was that he could act as an efficient asset stripper!

    Could the sole reason for picking David Moyes ahead of other possibly more promising managers be that he was brought in to do a 'hatchet job', and sell off the club's crown jewels?

    The rumours are the club will ask £90 Million for Rice, but accept £80 Million, an astonishing amount of money for such a young and relatively inexperienced player, but he will have plenty of suitors, particularly from UK based clubs, with the likes of both Manchester clubs interested in the young England full international. There will be substantial interest from Europe as well, but it is highly unlikely that his management company would sanction such a move so early on in his career.

    Either way, if Moyes is still in charge at the beginning of next season, then Declan Rice will almost undoubtedly have left for pastures new! - Ed

    Well, two massive games coming up and probably zero chance of any points. Tomorrow night brings back shocking memories for me, the league cup semi-final, the camera’s focused on our supporters, commentator saying “they don’t look happy and it’s a long drive home on the M6” at which my phone lights up with many texts saying you’ve been on telly, cheer up you miserable old XXXX :o)

    I have been to the Etihad five times and each time its been well…difficult. Last season we were battered even if the score line didn’t reflect the nature of the one way traffic. By the way, what happened to the young full back that made his debut that night?

    So with two fixtures on the horizon with no points, firmly in the bottom three, confidence at a low what are the real chances of escape? I really fear that this will be the season we finally drop into the Chumps. I think Saturday is significant, nothing but a win against Saints will suffice. A heavy loss combined with the Hammers United protest on the same day will be a defining moment for our club and maybe the owners?

    Andriy Yarmolenko is one of West Ham United's highest paid players, but with the exception of some brief glimpses has never really shone for the club, untimely injuries have limited the player to only 24 appearances for the Irons since his £17.5 Million transfer from Borussia Dortmund two years ago.

    Yarmolenko's massive £115,000 per week, in addition to the initial hefty transfer fee has not represented good value for the club by any stretch of the imagination, in fact there are many who think acquiring the Ukranian International was an appalling bit of business given the player's past injury record, and has many people asking why do West Ham United keep signing 'expensive crocks'?

    Well, now is the time for everyone involved with the club to step up to the plate, including Andriy! It is about time he repaid the faith that has been shown in him and proves what a good player he can be.

    It is quite astonishing to see a squad as expensively assembled as West Ham's fighting a relegation battle, but a relegation battle is exactly where the club finds itself, and it is about time some of the club's 'luxurious' imports prove their worth BEFORE they are able to jump ship.

    It is to be hoped that David Moyes and his back room staff can instil a sense of belief and commitment in to a bunch of overpaid and under performing prima donna's, a category in which Andriy Yarmolenko definitely belongs. - Ed

  • Did Irons Roll Over For Premier League?

    West Ham United's decision to agree to the rescheduling of the game against Manchester City that had to be postponed by storm Ciarra during the so called winter break has had many fans outraged by the club's apparent acquiescence to the 'powers that be' by allowing the game to be played on the Wednesday the 19th of February, a clear 72 Hours before either team should have been officially playing according to the original remit from the FA, the Premier League and F.I.F.A.

    It is not as if the club owe the FA any favours, time and again in the past, West Ham have ended up losing key players through injury whilst on international duty, and have been on the wrong end of legal decisions, with 'Tevezgate' being particularly galling!

    Attending the replay is going to be really difficult for the Hammers travelling faithful, despite the club's offer of free transport from Stratford, it doesn't matter that much for the City fans who don't have to travel, with many Hammers fans eventually being unable to attend because of work and family commitments due to the match being played midweek!

    Now is the time that the club more than ever need the support of the fans, and it seems unfair and indeed possibly unenlightened, that the Hammers hierarchy were either forced or were complicit in this blatant act of negativity to the team and it's long suffering fans, because believe it or not, West Ham United are in the fight for their lives, and need every tiny bit of luck and the rub of the green to avoid plummeting to the depths of the lower leagues.

    Doing Citeh a favour when not required to do so by 'law', is neither giving the Irons luck, nor the rub of the green!
