  • why does the team not believe?

    Are the players sulking? are they still pissed off over the team changes for the Oxford cup game that blew up spectacularly in El Pels face....if not that then what is the reason behind the total lack of belief in there own ability...if it was down to the training and tactics then they should of manned up and spoken out to the manager and said so....but this constant malaise that seems to surround this club is ridiculous we have a good spell then bam we just lose the plot and spiral out of control and it has happened throughout our history and i do not know where that comes from....now we are deep in the brown stuff and like many i cannot see a way out but the whole club Board/manager/players need to grow a set and prove they are worth the support that they get because it is waning with each passing week and yes if we go down Haller/Anderson/Lanzini/Rice/Fornals and maybe even Fab after hearing chelski looking for new gk will leave and whoever plays for us next season will be playing in an unatmospheric bowl with maybe 30/35thousand at a push watching.....so i am demanding not asking not pleading not being nice nope this girls passed that i am demanding that these so called players of ours step up grab there bits and show that they are men and not the pathetic little wallflowers who wilt at the first sign of hardship....prove to us that we should be proud to support you as you carry our hopes and dreams onto the pitch and we fans deserve that more than any others this season so COYI lets have it

  • He's Forever Bowen Bubbles!

    After a long protracted 'birth', the hottest property of the Championship, Jarred Bowen, has finally put pen to paper on his transfer from Hull City to West Ham United, the 23 year old has signed a five and a half year which could eventually cost in excess of £43 Million in fees and wages.

    British players always come at a Premium, especially those destined to represent their country, so the fee is relatively low. It is the sort of business his satanic majesty Daniel Levy would have done, fortunately he was too busy impaling Newcastle over the Danny Rose transfer to do another 'Fernandes'.

    This deal is massive, both for the player, the club and it's fans, Bowen is not the sort of character who will go missing when the proverbial hits the fan, so his recruitment was essential in providing the back bone of a team that is up for the fight.

    Talk of filtering him in gently are wide of the mark, and while his registration was too late for him to be eligible to play against *Brighton on Saturday, he will be available for the games against Manchester City and Liverpool!

    Not much of a debut scenario hey?

  • Hammers Snipe Hull's Bowen From Palace

    Word is just coming through that West Ham United and Hull City have agreed terms for the transfer of Jarrod Bowen, the highly rated 23 year old attacking midfielder was being courted by Crystal Palace and several other clubs, but it appears Hammers have offered to pay the full asking price which begins at £12 Million rising to as much as £20 Million including add ons.

    Bowen is out of contract in 2021, hence Hull's desire to sell one of their best assets now rather than see his value decrease in the summer, the player is due for a medical at Rush Green this morning and to finalise personal terms.

    Bowen's energy will provide 'another Antonio' with regards to his ability to get up and down the pitch, and will add pace to one of the most lethargic teams in the Barclays Premier League!

  • Wilshere, Sanchez And Roberto Costa Fortune!

    West Ham United went in to the January transfer window with a desperate need for reinforcements, an additional goal keeper, a strong midfielder, a full back and a striker. That is quite some shopping list for an 'elite' club to have mid way through the Barclays Premier League season.

    One of the main reasons so many 'new faces' are required, is due to the profligate recruitment policies of Manuel Pellegrini and Mario Husillos, hence the club are now doing everything they can to 'offload' some of the pairs most disastrous signings.

    Thankfully they must have a media from England black out in Spain, because Alavés have taken Roberto Jiminez Gago, worst goal keeper in Hammers' history, on loan. However shifting the rest of the dead wood is not going to be easy thanks to the ludicrously generous deals they are on, Carlos Sanchez being a classic example, his £70,000 per week wages are absolutely astonishing!

    Sanchez, Roberto and Jack Wilshere cost the club £10 Million per annum in wages, and for what? Ironically the only exception out of the three is Roberto, because he DIDN'T pick up a long term injury, the others have had a combined total of less than twenty games in 18 months.

    If anyone is foolish enough to enquire about either Wilshere or Sanchez, then West Ham would snap their hands off, however it is highly unlikely either are required by even the most desperate of clubs.

    Another of the club's historically injured players who will be leaving is Winston Reid, having not played a 'proper' game for over two years he has been unable to attain the heights of physical prowess that he once had, it's a pity but a fresh start in the MLS would suit Reid and his family, we wish him well.

    If all goes to plan, the Sanchez and Reid combined salary of £150,000 per week can be used to pay for a 'real' player, and not a hospital case! Then that would leave dear old Jack to 'ease' out the door, but that won't be easy. It is interesting that David Moyes doesn't even mention Wilshere's name when discussing injured players, at least the new manager has seen through the veneer of 'but he's such a good player when he's fit', the point is, with the exception of one season when he was on loan to Bournemouth, Wilshere has NEVER been fit.

    Hopefully lessons have been learned with regards to signing players with fitness issues, after all, the club have the upmost experience in getting it wrong! - Ed

  • 'Savvy' Sullivan' Hid Rescue Funds From Husillos

    Having watched a considerable amount of resources get poured in to a team containing several expensive but under performing players, Hammers chief share holder David Sullivan decided a while ago that his network of 'shady' agents could access players just as easily as sacked head of recruitment Mario Husillos could.

    The writing was on the wall for a 'desperation' spend in order to rescue the club from the serious threat of relegation it now faces, the problem was that neither Manuel Pellegrini with his 'big club' mentality, nor Husillos were actually very good at buying 'inexpensive' players, preferring to go high end using the quality not quantity principal. This course of action is absolutely fine if, and it is a salient if, you have a large squad!

    The Barclays Premier League is an unforgiving environment, the cut and thrust of which takes it toll, and injuries are common place, a big squad absorbs these and has strength in depth to cover a star player's absence, Hammers most definitely don't have a big squad, wafer thin would be a more apt description, or down to the bare bones as 'H' Redknapp used to regularly say during his tenure as West Ham United manager.

    One decision taken by Pellegrini and Husillos that particularly 'irked' Sullivan was their insistence on offering injury prone Jack Wilshere a THREE year contract worth a total of £15 Million in wages for the length of the contract, Sullivan only wanted to offer a one year deal, obviously with hindsight he was correct. The problem with the Wilshere deal was it created an 'uneasiness' in Sullivan's mind regarding future transfers, the lack of trust was compounded by the disaster that was Roberto Jiminez Gago, the worst goal keeper in the entire football league, (with the possible exception of Joe Hart) the fact that Husillos thought Roberto could be a first choice keeper ahead of Lukasz Fabianski says it all.

    Since joining from Arsenal Wilshere has made just ten appearances for West Ham United in over eighteen months at a cost of £7.5 Million, £750,000 per game is 'Carrollesque to the extreme! There are some who believe the 'real' Jack Wilshere is having a great time playing in South America, having left a perpetually injured clone here to pick up his wages.

    If he could, Sullivan would 'bounce' Wilshere during this transfer window, but who on earth would risk taking him? The recently submitted accounts for the club show a £27 Million loss, it would only have been £22 Million had the club not been bleeding £5 Million a year to keep Jack in the treatment room!

    Well, El Pel has gone, as has the Huse, and it seems that there has been significant searching behind the sofa at Sullivan's Theydon Bois mansion for extra funds to at least give David Moyes a fighting chance, the arrival of Tomas Soucek is a 'bloody good bit of business' according to pundits and observers, and more importantly the fans as well!

    Work still needs to be done on bringing in a right back and possibly an additional striker, but strikers in particular are always an expensive commodity during the January window, so it is in defence that the remaining funds need to be used. In an ideal World the club would be looking at securing an additional left back, although that position can be covered by fit again youth sensation Ben Johnson.

    If nothing else David Moyes is a street wise fighter, most definitely not most fans' cup of tea, but needs must, and if he is provided with the signings he needs during the next three days he has a good chance of steering the club to safety, it won't be easy, but with Moyes at the helm there is at least hope, so long as he is backed by the board. - Ed

  • Could Tomas Soucek Fill Two Roles?

    In addition to targeting Franck Kessie, Ronaldo Vieira, Nahitan Nandez, Sander Berge, Steven Nzonzi and Joe Allen in order to beef up Hammers light weight midfield, the club are actively involved in trying to 'lure' Tomas Soucek to the London Stadium from Slavia Prague.

    The towering 6'4" midfielder has been capped 25 times by the Czech Republic, and would bring the sort of physical presence to West Ham’s midfield that is currently sadly lacking. Although a defensive midfielder by trade, he has managed to score an astonishing 12 goals in 26 games so far this season, meaning he could fill an advanced midfield role and can even be an additional striker.

    (Who Scored Stats) Soucek has won an average of four aerial duals per game in six Champions League outings for Slavia Prague this season, the 24 year old also averaged 2.5 tackles, 2.5 interceptions, 2.8 clearances and 0.5 blocks per game in those six games, whilst having an impressive 82.6% pass completion rate.

    Slavia want £17 Million for Soucek, which in today's market represents superb value for an established player who has 'years on the clock' despite being only 24. Of course West Ham have low balled an offer of £13 Million which has been instantly rejected.

    £17 Million could get the deal over the line, and for someone of Soucek’s quality is essentially a no brainer. David Sullivan likes a bargain, but surely even he realises the fast approaching peril of relegation, dillying and dallying over £4 Million might make good business sense, but there are times when it is necessary to push the boat out in order to merely survive.

    Harry Redknapp famously brought in Paul Kitson and big Johnny Hartson to fill the void up front at the time in order to avoid relegation, he spent big, but knew it had to be that way.

    Now is the time to write the cheque out from your own funds Mr Sullivan, you can always charge the club an exorbitant interest rate for it later! - Ed

  • Half A Dozen On List Or Half Baked?

    With five days of the transfer window remaining, West Ham United, and just about every other Barclays Premier League club, are desperate to get at least a couple of deals over the line, and despite canny Scot David Moyes saying he will only sanction deals for players that are an upgrade on what he already has at his disposal.

    However, with co-owner and majority share holder David Sullivan now back as head of recruitment, the club has adopted a 'scatter gun' approach that is very familiar, a classic example being that Hammers are supposed to be looking at one of SIX central midfielders, Franck Kessie, Ronaldo Vieira, Nahitan Nandez, Sander Berge, Steven Nzonzi and Joe Allen.

    While it may be encouraging that the club is so 'active' it does beggar the question of why leave it so late? David Sullivan is not Daniel Levy and lacks the nous required to make beneficial signings with substantial and profitable sell on options, invariably West Ham United are always 'left at the altar', the 'sniping' of Gedson Fernandes by Tottenham from the club is a direct example of a totally non cohesive transfer strategy that has come home to roost in a big way.

    Seasoned Hammers fans have heard it all before, but this time the consequences of late action and restricted finances might finally kill the 'golden goose', fans will also be aware that by using smoke and mirrors in the pursuit of multiple players, the board are essentially stymieing the fans.

    What happened to the right back so desperately required? also the additional striker, not to mention the left back position! Some fans argue that if the club were relegated, as seems increasingly likely, that a good promotion campaign could see the club invigorated, but given the fate of other clubs who have gone down, a straight return is most improbable.

    There is also the small matter of fans attending half full games in the 'Dome of Mysery', worryingly there will be no fortress Boleyn as a venue for the promotion push, and unfortunately the club's hierarchy will retain their ownership, not wishing to miss out on the thirteenth richest club in the World 'cash cow' they have been running. The fact of the matter is be prepared for a whole raft of 'journeyman' players who will replace Manuel Pellegrini's 'exotic' imports, players like Jordan Hugill for example!
